Hak Test - Monster Hunter Spell Progression
« on: January 27, 2018, 05:49:30 AM »
I am unsure this is a bug or is as intended, but I am posting in here because of impressions I was given.

It was said that Monster Hunter spells will work like Assassin spells in terms of progression and casting -- however, unlike an Assassin, my test character is unable to have more than 3 spell slots of the 1st and 2nd spell circles, 2 spell slots for the 3rd, and only 1 for the 4th, at 10 levels of Monster Hunter and 14 Intelligence. Were this an Assassin, they would have 4 spell slots in the 1st and 2nd spell circles, 3 in the 3rd, 2 in the 4th, with the same intelligence score and 10 levels of the PrC.

If this is intended, please disregard.

It seems to follow the right progression from your description; 2 base level 1 & 2 spells + 1 bonus spell from your 14 Intelligence and no bonus spells for level 3 & 4 since your intelligence isn't high enough.

Can the case be made to increase these by one to fall more in line with the assassin progression? Not that they necessarily need to be the same, but the Monster Hunter class has a wider array of spells. It also feels as if investing into more intelligence for the spells will handicap you immensely elsewhere.

It's on par with the blackguard progression; I don't plan to change it.

The difference between the classes is that Monster Hunter has a wider array of actually useful spells. The Blackguard doesn't suffer nearly as much.

Just my two cents that I hope would be considered.
