[A brief speech was given by the Aasimar, Esmerelda Namarra, announcing the destruction of the wight, Jacopo. The response from the crowd was muted at best, and the Paladin and her companion, Saira, left shortly afterwards.]

Shortly after dawn, a band of Ezrites speaking in Mordentish and Richemuloise accents could be seen carrying a small, auburn-haired young woman along the road from the west and into the Lady's Rest. Wearing a haphazardly-tailored, bloodied linen coat, the girl was unnaturally pale, and seemed either dead or unconscious; keener eyes would settle unambiguously on the latter interpretation.

The young woman was taken into a room upstairs and left to rest. She has not yet emerged.

The search was on.  The Vallaki Garda diligently pursued a pistol wielding outlaw clad in black and yellow who had saved a green haired witch from the hangman's noose.

Curfews were enacted.  People were questioned.  Passerby in the Outskirts were stopped and searched.  Some were detained for questioning.  A suspicious pitic was found to have lockpicks and an assortment of tools that could've possibly been used for misdeeds related to the event.

The garda on duty locked him in a cage just outside the city walls, though, with all the excitement of the day, forgot to take him to jail.

When daybreak came, the cage was found destroyed by what looked to have been an enormous animal, with blood, torn shreds of clothing, and clumps of black and white fur being all that remained of the prisoner.

Word spreads of a late night scene, where a red eyed woman calmly deposited the body of a dwarf in the street outside the temple, before tearing out his tongue.
A bloodied note alongside the body spoke of a lesson in the fulity of being good.

Word spreads of a Gundarakite girl beaten by a Garda in front of the Morninglordian Church, and of a following assault against the same Garda and his comrade.

Some speak about Gunfire in the Outskirts and about a flyer left on the corpse of a dead Garda;

It seems to be an old Gundarakite song about freedom.

[Word spreads of how the Vallaki graveyard was profaned by vampires clad in red and black this night past.  Bodies were exhumed from their graves and desecrated with some ill form of witchcraft that seems to be intent on disturbing their eternal rest in refugio.  The only graves that were disturbed seem to be those of the followers of the Morninglord, however, all others left untouched.]

Come the morning, as the doorman Radu emerges from the Lady's Rest, he is awaited by a grisly scene. A woman lies face down in the dirt, eyes wide open, pale as the dreary Barovian sky, puncture marks in her neck. Over her stands a man in a grey hooded cloak, holding a tower shield, and repeating a single phrase, over and over and over ...

"Thank you, Atuar! Thank you, Morninglordians!"

The injured woman is helped to her feet, and the man is led away.

With the rise of the sun, a congregation on the Vallaki graveyard begun. The prayers, however, were quickly interrupted by the attack of a vicious man-beast, and when the pursuer of the creature returned beaten and cursed, the gathered would soon notice that some religious idols had been stolen from the site of the gathering...

A miracle follows the return of the pursuer, no matter the attack; the funerary ceremony completed, and the curse lifted by the performing Dawnbringer. The congregation remains in post until dusk, where they then leave the graveyard to the silence of the night, prayers close to their lips, a frown creasing their brows.

Spilt blood warms the cold ground of early morning as a guard patrol is ambushed in the shadow of the gallows. A flurry of bolts from the woodline fells a private and officer alike. When all is over with the corpse of the latter is nowhere to be found, and the barely living private is quick to slink back towards the Citadel.

The day drags on with a lingering sensation of dread and restlessness, a dreary cloud weighing upon the usual inhabitants of the Grey City.   Rumors spread of a violent confrontation during the night, where a well-known Gundarakite worshiper of the Morninglord was taken by the forces of the Old Night.  As the trail of heavy footsteps lead to the Southern Forest, so too does that same trail grow cold...

Rumors begin to circulate of an announcement by the Wayfarer Kinship, and soon without much fanfare, simple and short flyers appear in the outskirts of Vallaki.

The outskirts of Vallaki light up for a brief moment in the darkest moments of the night, as something causes the area in front of the Sanctuary of the Coming Dawn to burst in flames. Soon gone, those who saw what happened from the walls of the city must have been astonished: clearly nothing natural could cause something so sudden.

A man makes a scene in the middle of the night. Yelling and screaming as he does - He stabs a sword through a heart, and into the ground, in front of the Morninglord temple. Planting the two. He then walks off, heading east.

The familiar figure of Giles Hawkins clad in his signature dark grey Darkonian coat is seen hammering a notice into the nearby tree.

Quote
An open letter to one 'Setara Flane'.

Setara,

To say that this is not a long time coming would be an outright lie, and yet I am still disappointed. Since meeting you over three months ago I was expecting something resembling a rational being within a hardened stoic exterior. Instead I am met with ignorant gibbering from an overtly aggressive and entitled pomp who not only demands recompense that she has simply assumed to be caused by the Wayfarers, but also expects us to cower at the machinations of a thimble in black dress because they claim to have learned all the Kinship's "Horrible and dire secrets". I would suggest you spend less time reading the regular social rags of Port'a'Lucine and pick up a history book. Perhaps then you wouldn't be making such a colossal blunder of yourself. I and my Kin both have been leniant and unquestioningly patient with your tantrums, but that has come to an end.

Indeed we have sent Kin to those who profess to be our allies for them to understand the spread of misinformation gets us nowhere. As for horrifying damage, I am less inclined to worry such. In the interests of peace and greater good we overlooked your aggressive, borderline murderous intent to not only our allies, but my Kin, a transgression I take more seriously than you could possibly comprehend it seems. We have not made any accusations towards the woman known as "Eve". Feel free to find some pamphlet clutched to a drifters shoe to prove us otherwise if you must. For you to crow of your stance against injustice is beyond insulting, given how quickly you have resorted to threatening my Kin. Do not think your idle words fell on deaf ears. I heard them all.

You are about as gracious and honourable as a sow rolling in mud. If you truly think that you can blackmail my Kin so easily then you clearly do need to hit the books Setara Flane, because my Kin are made of sterner stuff than your middling threats. Feel free to release your accusations. I and my Kin will be very interested to see what you've managed to cook up amongst the dregs of the world who lope and meander around such hotspots as the Keep of the Dyad. I certainly welcome the criticism of one so brimming of wisdom and knowledge such as you. You, who stands in judgement of the Kinship, having worked with insidious Vampires. You, who sought to strike down noble souls such as Jory Flintmane because she dared to do what you could not. You, who demanded justice upon us for the capture of Kero Steel, ignoring the murderous intent with which he struck down Annaka Hamori. Your judgement of our actions is at best laughable.

Unlike you Setara, I don't make threats. I make promises. I will release a statement of your many crimes, both to my Kin and beyond. You are an insipid toddler demanding what is not yours to demand. On behalf of the Wayfarer Kinship, I rebuke you. Do let me know if you require more solars for your printing press.

Kind Regards,

~Giles Hawkins, Wayfarer Kinship

[An addendum is tacked to the bottom of the page]

Quote
All those who once called Setara friend, beware the vipers fangs, for just as she has tried to poison the Kin with outright lies and deceit, so too will she do to any of you. She is an incredibly dangerous dwarven woman, quick to raise blades against those who should be considered the most honorable and just of all who dwell in this misted lands. May she one day learn the folly of her actions.
