Come the morn of the next day, the sturdy hangman's block is ruined and crumbled. The tall timbers have splintered and are coated in black soot and grey ash. The conflagration of the last night has sundered the gallows, and the gossip of the local traders and farmers is toned with a yet greater fear and mistrust of outsiders.

Ròka and his devils, they fear, will come for them next.

Upon this night those who seek solace within one of the rooms in the Lady's Resting Place find themselves accompanied briefly by a very mangled spirit that twitches silently upon the ground for a moment before fading from view.

Workmen mill about, taking advantage of the favorable weather. Two wagons drag away damaged and cracked wood, while shovels prepare the earth again. Erecting great trunks of of stately oak, and with heavy planks across them, the old gallows are rebuilt. At their highest point, an unspoken message to the subject peoples of Barovia, an empty noose.

~As morning approaches, signs are quietly erected by the old well, in the graveyard of the Morninglord, by the hanged skeleton at the crossroads, and by the bridge to the Vistani Camp. The messages are different on each, but they bear the same general message. The Children of Gundar will rise, and they will be free. The signs are signed Holló.~

We see the suffering you have been inflicted by the devil and his dogs. You are not alone in this fight. Roka lives and the rage of the children of Gundarak has only been fed further.

On the verge of dusk, a Gundarakite with a shorn scalp and the worn trappings of a vagrant was hauled away from the burial yard in shackles. The city gates shut behind the patrol at the appointed hour, closing away the opportunity for any queries or pestering.
It is not an ending, but an ebbing.

Rumors spread of bloodshed upon the exterior of the Morninglord temple grounds.  Words were exchanged between a shadowy, masked man and an armored knight.  The words quickly gave way to violence and the knight was slain by his unarmed attacker and his accomplice -- a fair elven woman bearing sinister horns and a greatsword.  Brief words were then issued to the onlookers -- a warning that the assassination was a retaliation for something that occurred somewhere in the dark under-city of Vallaki.  The truth of the claim is perhaps only known to those who were involved, but one thing is clear.  The armored man was taken off toward the West, his lifeless form still in the clutches of his attackers.  He has since not returned.

The dawn following a brutal attack on Sister Sasha outside the Sanctuary of Eternal Dawn, the Dawnbringer has returned to her usual spot outside the outskirts temple where she is often seen serving soup. Today she stands defiantly outside the temple, the left side of her face heavily bandaged and her balance a little off as she is clearly struggling to recover physically and emotionally from the attack. She serves...an unusual soup today. Bright red tomato stew, with little bobbing fake eyeballs made of cheese and olives. Perhaps humor is her preferred medicine?

A few hours ago, just after sun up, a retinue of garda could be seen escorting a small woman with a rose colored sash toward the citadel.  The woman, easily be identified as Tess Anderburrow, wore shackles around her wrists and hung her head in sorrow.

A stately carriage bearing the Von Zarovich crest thundered into the Outskirts in full view of the usual onlookers. A Vistana emerged from the cabin and demanded the entrance of Vicar Sasha Sorokina. The vicar obeyed and entered the carriage without protest. The carriage was last seen travelling east toward Castle Ravenloft. Currently her fate remains unknown.

Anyone looking for work would by now know that the Hammer & Anvil offers work to anyone who wants it. Resource gathering, envoys to Dvergeheim and work in the shop are among the jobs offered.

Several muffled booms break the still night air in the Western outskirts as a sign is destroyed in flame.

All that remains is a smouldering scorch mark and a crudely written notice.

Good people of Vallaki and the core,

It would seem that the forces of evil are set out to destroy me and sully my good name.  This missive is not a call to arms, or a threat to those that seek to pursue and bring me in.  I merely want to set the record straight - about me as person and the crimes listed on my bounty listing.

To those who know me, you would know that I'm a young, innocent girl who enjoys my freedom as much as the rest of you.  I've done so much for a lot of you and for the city of Vallaki.  I would -never- assault anyone for any reason other than self-defense or steal from anyone of thing unless it was WELL - warranted.  The crimes listed on my rapsheet while impressive, are false and I wish them repealed. I have been away for several months, come back out of solitude from training, back two days and this is what I get?  While I am flattered, this is bullshite and what really happened.

Months ago, I was carefree, happy, able to come and go as I please.  Now it would seem that I am to live out my days hunted which is fine but the people need to know the truth.  And the truth is, which we all know, that the garda are corrupt and use their power to ill means and evil ends to accomplish what they will or silence those who get too close.

I swear this on my parents, my grandparents and my former clan, as an honorable shinobi that my banishment was wrongfully so.  I never assaulted Dmitry nor stole from him.  He got huffy one day and was rumored that I was bringing guns into Vallaki which was a falsehood and after a -very- thorough search, he came up with nothing.  On a later day and day maybe I found him in ill-humors but for no reason other than having my weapons out (coming from a battle), he accosted me, lost his patience and temper with me, not being able to find me wrong with the law, he took it upon himself for no reason whatsoever to beat me over the head, take my weapons, and leave me for dead, then banishing me.  I broke my banishment because he's full of cow dung and so is the rest of the garda, I feel confident in saying.

So you, as citizens of the world we find ourselves in have a few choices:  You could buy into this hogwash and the rumors spreading and accost me when you see me or, take the higher road and let it go.  I know I can't face them alone but mark my words,  I'm already bountied so I have nothing to lose.  If they or anyone for that matter should purposely seek me out with the intent of bringing me in or harm to me, I will not go down without a fight.  I really tried..and I'm sorry for those who this hurts, really I am.  Humblest Regards,

Aya - Super Ninja Treasure Princess Extraordinare.

Recently two blonde giants dressed in rugged furs and and armor, a male and a female speaking a weird tongue that the dwellers of Vallaki have never heard off, they have fought their way through most of the dangers of what the outskirts of Vallaki can offer, and spoked with some members of the Christian cult, but they don't speak of their God, the word they seem to say most of the time is Wotan... Whatever he ot it is they say this word with reverence and respect. They still linger in the outskirts, looking their sorroundigs with confused, feeling alienated and itching for another fight to live another day, or die in battle once and for all together.

Last night a rather brash and ugly Barovian man stands in the outskirts. He sets down an ornate mahogany box and grins wide. With a bellowing shout and laughter he announces "Mystery Box for sale! Riches untold could be inside! Test your luck! Only 700 fang!" He goes about shouting with a grin ear to ear. The shops nearby look on with annoyance as he peddles his box of mystery. For a while people heckle and ignore the man, none interested in what secrets lie inside the box. After a while a curious man approaches from a nearby stand to test fate. Fang is exchanged as the Barovian lets out another drunken howl of laugher. The lucky or unlucky man removes two severed heads and a bottle of Tsuika from inside the box. With a cackle and a drunken slur, the Barovian man takes his leave...

A rather skittish looking Lamordian man was seen placing fliers around the outskirts at night. He kept his cloak tight on himself and mumbled as he passed into the Lady's Rest.

Goodendach!
I, Conrad Burkhart, am seeking to study different bloodlines. If you are an Elf, Dwarf, Caliban/Half-Orc, Hin, or Gnome, and the following interests you, then please meet me in the Ladies Rest. The purpose of the meeting is to study the various phenotypes and their bodily workings. The session will entail prodding, movement of various limbs, eye, mouth, and ear examination, as well as a conversation into the habitat of yourself and your ancestors. I am willing to pay each specimen 800 fang. As I only need a few for each race it will be a first come first serve basis.
Danke for your time and aufcheet!

For the last few days, the people who visited the outskirts of Vallaki would see a new figure about. The man, dressed in what seemed to be a heavy chainmail with a matching red hood and cloak, was seen most of the time hammering a sign everytime he stopped by. The sign read has followed:

Red Vardo Traders hiring!

To those who asked, he told them to leave their name with him, and that they would be contacted for an interview. And the one thing that he seemed to make sure everyone understood was that the Traders would be a visible group in Vallaki once again...

The ringing clatter of steel on steel could be heard in the clearing not far from the path into the Outskirts, followed by a variety of creative swearing and curses
