A body exhumed, the sanctity afforded only in the eternal solace of death was desecrated.  A foul, malodorous stench filled the lands that dwelt in the shadow of the looming ramparts of the Grey City.  Intrepid souls, dredging up the tatters of their fortitude to brave the putrid aroma and macabre scene swarmed about the disrupted gravesite.  The eerie quiet was shattered by their dry retches, stomachs churned with dread and fetid air.

They combed the remains, booted toes turning over a grisly scene as onlookers averted their gaze.  Shared discourse filled the emptiness between heaving and gawking as they diverged, departing in separate directions after the remnants of a man were returned to their final resting place.  The earth reverently packed loosely by a decorated officer of the garda, the smell dispersed diffusing with the frigid breeze that swept through the lowlands of Barovia.

The silence and tranquility was ephemeral, the rising of the moon greeted with grating of bone, shuffling of preternatural booted foot, and splintering of the heavily reinforced gate to the Grey City.  Soon ominous tones joined in a cacophony in the nighttime firmament, the cascading resonance of warning bells and the blaring of garda horns filled the air.

Shuttered windows and barred doors did little to drown out the sounds of the evening.  The circling of carrion feeders around the docks served as an inauspicious greeting when the dawn crested the horizon.  Those scavengers picked and prodded, turning over every sundered scrap of metal and leather in search of satiation. They found only ash and soot as their wings buffeted the air and their ascension was accompanied by discontented squawking and cawing.

As the noonday sun was high in the sky, a single Cyricist appeared in front of the Morninglord Temple as if from nowhere.  He spoke a brief 'doom and gloom' message to those gathered.  The crowd seemed largely unconcerned by his words and mildly bothered by his presence, and as magic was beginning to be cast he chose to retreat from sight with the help of his blessings.

As darkness descended, the Cyricists known to many as "The Harbinger" and "The Deceiver" prowled the lands to spread their message of Fear, Fate, and The Dark Sun by force.  They clashed multiple times with lone individuals or small groups, leaving the surrounding area littered in spots of blood, scorch marks, and other signs of frantic battle.  Blades crossed, spells were cast, and even a lone gunshot rang out in the night as multiple skirmishes took place.  In the end, the Cyricists claimed a victory in the name of their foul god and vanished to some unknown hide-away.  Around six brave combatants fell to their dark magics and wicked blades, and yet more fled into the night, just managing to escape with their lives.  As the rays of dawn reached out over the horizon, the only sign left of them was a parchment laying in the road - a parchment bearing a ghostly white skull backed by a purple and black sunburst.

Dawn broke in the outskirts and the church of the Morninglord was active in joyous celebration and ceremony as they welcomed more into their family. There was no fear or darkness as the light of dawn shined brightly in the outskirts.

Several notes are pinned around the outskirts,  each is marked by the notorious symbolism of a black inked hand. The body of the message leaves little room for interpretation, a clear warning to someone.

An eerie sight would wait for those whose attention was drawn to the graveyard behind the Sanctuary of the Coming Dawn. Several graves were disturbed, freshly dug dirt scattered about the entire area. It appeared entirely chaotic as though whatever clawed through the dirt, did so with little care of what destruction it caused. Some of the loose dirt was packed back atop the disturbed graves making it difficult to tell at a glance if any bodies were exhumed. . .

Late morning, a trio was seen returning from the mountains. A relatively green Darkonese man, an armored woman, and the tall graycloak clad ambassador of the Vanguard. In his arms was the limp, lifeless but somehow peaceful body of the wight, Janak, and his head clutched in his fist.

The Wight is dead.

Only a single night has passed since the disturbance in the graveyard - and now those traveling past the Sanctuary are assaulted with something far more gruesome.

A recently exhumed corpse rests in what appears to be a makeshift operating area. The corpse is heavily decayed, with maggots writhing through its skin and various cavities. A number of crude surgical experiments appear to have been performed on the body. Organs, bones, and blood are scattered and splattered around the area, along with what appear to be the 'tools' used for the experiments. A rusty hook, a sickle, and even a set of silverware are all stained with blood.

Whoever or whatever was responsible for this, appears to have left in a hurry. It is unclear why this took place so close to a traveled area. Perhaps the body was too heavy to move further - or it was done with the unfulfilled intention of returning the body to a grave. Even more disturbing however - is the idea that someone /wanted/ this to be seen. . .

After a couple of nights a drawn pentacle can be found where previously was the body. A black candle burning at each point.

In the middle a message is left.

A colorfully dressed woman has been seen dancing, singing comedic songs, performing tricks of acrobatic skill and humor, in short bursts in the outskirts.

As quickly as she comes, she announces that her name is Soapy, and the "Circus is coming", as if doom saying and foreshadowing some grave circumstances. All in all, she seems lighthearted.

While the horrors that occurred in and around the Graveyard seemed to experience a brief lull, rumors begin to circulate that the series of bizarre events has escalated yet again. A fleshy, decaying undead with twisted limbs was seen casually walking east along the road outside of the Sanctuary of the Coming Dawn. It halted momentarily upon encountering a group of onlookers - and some reports suggest that the creature tried to interact with them. While no conflict was had, the strangest account perhaps was that the creature's final action was to wave to those present - before whatever force held the creature together dissipated, causing it to collapse into a pile of body parts (some attached and others loose. . . .) in the middle of the street.

A Vistana woman has been seen speaking quietly to a Vallaki Garda. She spoke clearly about one of the Three Laws having been broken. Despite their dialogue was mostly heard only by the two people, the word "vishnad" was repeated more than once. Other matters were discussed in all probability, and the expression of the two was extremely serious. Barovian law can be harsh but also right, the stone was tossed and what may happen is covered by dark possibilities.

The sun rose to a grisly sight this morning in the outskirts, as from the battlements hung the lump form of a garda impaled with a wooden vampire hunters stake through his heart. The body was pulled down by another garda and was last seen being carried into the guard house. The workaholic Serghei is currently absent from his usual posting in the outskirts.

Half eaten corpses have been found near cooking fires, ravaged and torn apart after a feast, though left behind and discarded in plain sight to be found. The chilling part, is that there is evidence that the beasts that fed off these poor dead men left distinctly human characteristics.

As the nights in the outskirts began to see more traffic, it was as if the land. . . or perhaps something that resided there. . .saw the need to instill fear again.

Rumors tell of a rancid, decaying corpse that made its way out of the cemetary and toward those who gathered in the night. Despite its repulsive nature, it seemed almost amiable at first. However - those gathered wisely began to arm themselves with whatever weapons they had and the act seemed to provoke a violent reaction from the corpse. Wielding a hammer of its own, the creature began to lash out wildly - before eventually being struck down by a hulking figure. Given the history of similar events that have transpired in the area, few believe this flagrant encounter with a rotting corpse will be the last.

It is said around Vallaki that the elf holding the smithy shop in the outskirts suddenly collapsed in a seizure while working. A small crowd took her inside the lady's rest, of which she wasn't seen coming out from.

Rumors of terror in Vallaki had perhaps seemed quiet as of late - but in a land full of horrors, such a lull couldn't be expected to last long.

A horrifying scene unfolded behind the Sanctuary of the Coming Dawn, as a slew of bodies were found exhumed from their graves. Dried entrails and withered flesh were scattered all around the Graveyard, along with a gouged eyeball that was positioned next to one of the gravestones. . . as though it was watching the scene. Rumor tells of a group of onlookers who began investigating the horrifying discovery and when they did so, an armored skeleton approached them. . . as though it was standing guard.

A battle eventually ensued and the creature was struck down. One of the members of this group took chase after who they believed to be behind the horrific act. . . but the outcome of the chase seems to vary depending on who is asked.

One thing seems certain. . .whoever caused this disturbance appeared to be looking for something. . .

A gaunt figure stalks the Westerns Outskirts.

Seen by many - and felt by even more. . . this figure has made itself known to those who inhabit the area. Word of mouth suggests it has been following travelers, demanding a price in blood to be extracted from one traveler, by another among them. One fearful group submitted to the demands and saw safety from the darkness that night. . . even earning a reward for their compliance. Others, it is said. . . have not been so lucky.

Seemingly appeased, the creature. . . and his demands. . .have disappeared. For now. . .

At the early hours of the morning, past midnight a tall thin figure had to be repelled back as it broke the gates of the city and ascended the wall in an attempt to kill a guardsman. A Group of Outlanders and the guardsman managed to chase him of. After a fall from the wall thanks to the strong guard pushing it of, it  ended in a loud bone crushing fall, the being  dissapeared despite the many sustained injuries and said fall just Before the sun rose.

At noon a diminutive wererat could be seen up a cliff in the outskirts. It railed at a pair of men dressed in the colours of Ezra, addressing one specifically and promising that the: "time of unity comes soon". The rat's speech did not last long, taking to the shadows as one of the Ezrites approached it, sword drawn.

A brief search ensued, but the cowardly rat could not be found, though it left notices entitled: "Declaration of Her Chosen" scattered about the outskirts.

Tales begin to spread wildly of the massacre that took place yesterday in the Vallaki Farmlands. Body parts strewn across the fields like fertilizer, limbs and skulls torn from the dead. Organs and decapitated heads lay upon rocks like pedestals, monuments in memoriam to raw hatred. Mouths lay agape in silent, eternal screams as the carrion birds peck out their eyes. Messages scrawled in blood paste every available sign or grain storage shed. The words vary, but the message stays the same.

After a prolonged time of quietness, rumours of The Black Hand return to strike and terror the nightly wanderers ...
A black bahamut clad in piles and piles of black steel plates was seen drawing a sword against two individuals, a male and a female. The sparring ended into the couple's demise and into a gift of mercy by the Black Hand warrior. The reason of the quarrel seems to reside into the couple's ignorance of whom they had infront, vague rumours state the woman may have slandered the knight in some way or the other.
