Lawgiver Heresy Question
« on: December 04, 2016, 08:02:14 PM »
I found this on the fraternity of shadows and thought it was very interesting for a character I may want to roll if possible.  Does anyone have any information further on the topic, and from a setting perspective is this allowed?  Also, if so what domains would be appropriate?

The Duremkites belong to the faithful of the Church of the Lawgiver. They are a small, unofficial group, based in Arbora and led by Lukas Duremke. They quietly argue that leaders have a responsibility to not only care for the spiritual well-being of their followers by correcting their faults but equally to care for their physical well-being. This lawful good view is heterical within a lawful evil institution.

This is pretty much the sum of the information available in canon Ravenloft sources. Feel free to play a follower of this lawful good heresy as you see fit.

Remember however that clerics are still restricted to the deity alignment rule, you cannot be a lawful good cleric of the Lawgiver. Paladins believing their powers come from the Black Lord, and Lawful neutral clerics with good tendencies are perfectly acceptable (within the context of this heresy), but you will be hunted down and persecuted harshly by the church for your heresy (if your not discreet), until you recant or die.

Thank you for that bright and optimistic outlook lol.  But you're right, one must be ready to accept the outcome of their character.  It's a potential idea for an interesting alt.  I may go with.  This leads to another question then since you're also correct about the alignment step rule.  It seems that LN aligned clerics are known of and loosely tolerated though frowned upon.  Is that correct?
