Active Neutral/Evil Factions

Hello, all. I'm a new player. Right now, I just started playing with the character Corson Hexxenblutt (a sorcerer). I know that, generally, the best way to get involved in a new server is to get into Faction-play. I tend to like either ambiguous or evil play. So, I could see my character joining either a neutral or evil faction.

What I'm wondering is, if someone could give me some insight into the more nebulous or more evil Factions, either supported factions or player-created?

Well, I understand that, while listed, the Ba’al Verzi, Fraternity of Shadows, & Van Richten Society are all secretive. Are you saying there's secret player factions?


Sidenote: I have an idea for a bard/assassin PC who I want to join the Ba'al Verzi, but I'm waiting on tiefling subrace approval.

There are secret player factions. 

For supported factions, I'm not sure you really "apply" to join the Ba'al Verzi in character.  I believe you have to be approached by a current member.

I figured. But...is there anything to say you can't RP looking for them or trying to find information about them? In other words, trying to get noticed by them?

I meant drawing their attention, not the attention of the populace in general. Anyway, any lore on them, by chance?

There's 1 book on the Verzi IG, I don't know how common it is. Offhand I think it presents them as a part of Barovia's history that happened a long time ago.

If you want to be a faction member, then just be an assassin IG and do assassin work. Just strive to play an assassin and be the most professional assassin on the server as your own personal goal. If you do a good job and don't attract a lot of attention, you might be considered. Don't worry about the faction not finding out about you if you're too good, being too good is probably beneficial to you.
