Libérez votre esprit! Libérez votre ville!

[Stuck on the Port-a-Lucine library door and around the university during the dead of night, the posters are written in High Mordentish. The vocabulary, however, is not idiomatic—as though the writer often resorted to a dictionary or thesaurus in the composition.]

Enlightened citizens of Dementlieu!

Port-a-Lucine is a modern, cosmopolitan metropolis. How long must you retain your backward ideas of another age? How long will the old fossils in their dotage foist their dated ideologies and prejudices on the vibrant youth?

You who frequent this library and attend the university have superior brains and learning. Do you judge others by the outward appearance of their skin…or by the content of their character?

Brave men—and women!—guard us all, royalty and commoner alike, putting their own lives at risk to protect us. But because they are called “Caliban,” they are not worthy to enjoy the finest this city has to offer.

They cannot attend essential social events, like parties and balls, so those they love and who love them must be deprived of their companionship. Regardless of their talents and brilliance, they must stand aside while boorish, inferior artists take what rightfully should be their place in the highest society, performances, and expositions.

The culture suffers for this intolerable injustice, and we are all thus made poorer! True patriots of Dementlieu and those who value the mind above the vessel that contains it must be outraged!

Such notions of racial inferiority belong to a superstitious land like Barovia, but not in an advanced civilization that prides itself on refinement. This outmoded hate is as creaky and clanky as an old suit of armor.

It is time to cast it into the dustbin of history!
