In the moderately-cluttered study of the d'Espivant household, a decades-old lecture book has been re-purposed to keep notes for the family. Everything can be found here: expenses, income, shopping lists, appointments, and correspondence notes slipped in between the pages.

MARKET
Grappling Hooks
Ropes
Draughts
Eggs
Flour

NOTES

Forestalled party another couple of weeks. Too much work at the moment.

Prepare flyers for joint training.

Still need to make that appointment.

May be worth paying house visits to former criminals as well as war-widows and struggling families. Good to ensure they're on track with their lives, and haven't gotten into any more trouble.

A note is scrawled on a page with today's date.

Quote
My dearest Celeste,

I have to meet with some old friends in the lower district tomorrow. Those being 'women of the night' to whom I gave patronage when I was much younger. It's to do with work this time, though. I'll return without a whiff of perfume about my person, I swear it on my father's grave.

With love,
Your Rollie.

A scrap of parchment, torn from one of Ezra's sacred texts, is pasted in the center of another page.

MARKET
Swaddling cloth
Cradle
Blankets
Tin of cocoa
Rocking chair

NOTES
Set up a trust fund for Flavie at the bank:
She will be given an allowance of 40 solars a week.
The rest will be accessible once she has completed her first year of higher studies.

We will not raise the child for Flavie, though we will put blankets on her bed and broth in her bowl for as long as she remains under our roof.
A curfew will be established. If that scum-sucking bastard comes within ten feet of the residence I will strangle She is not to meet the father unsupervised.
She will work hard to ensure her future is a bright one.

NOTE TO SELF: Must slacken my protective vice over the other girls. They will only fight harder to get out when they come in to womanhood. This, I have learned.

Coin earned from play (5000 solars) to go towards supplies for house visits to war widows:
Rags, combs, ointments, books, quilts, soaps...

Could pay unemployed seamstresses to mend uniforms?
