Beast Within

Clutching his chest the rapid breathe coupled by the pace of a beating heart hammered in the skull of the man. Hands now sharpen to claws scratched out the eyes of one man as a great ax slams into the chest of another. The unnatural howl that resounded shaken the group of men at night by the port of port leucine causing them to step back/ Muscle and sinew stretched size enlarge the beast before them grew taller an tighter lunging at one man teeth bare with slightly larger fangs than a man biting into the neck of its prey. Covered in blood one could only think it a beast as the wet sucking sound of blood being lapped till the sickening tear of flesh lead by blood curdling anguish as the beast chewed its savored morsel. It's head never rose up but its great ax did swung in such a might a man was clean in half sliding from his top till guts splatter the walk of the dock. Men by fear ran and some by fear of living charged towards it only to find claw and ax rending them to pieces. Numbers dwindling two men ran and looked back as what was once a friend was dragged with ax in chest towards the sewer.

Disbelieving eyes watched unable to move forward as one by one the men were dragged in front of him his ally long gone from his side. The beast breathed and mist rose from its mouth its wounds seeping heat till it waited no more and knelt before the first cut throat who attempted to stop what he thought was a man. It bit into his dying face the man's screams didn't even get a response from the Broken Spire inn patrons to come outside as he watch the beast eat the man alive. His mind told him to run but the roar of anguish and sadness the beast howl kept him in his tracks. The hour had passed and he had watched it all the sound of the ocean drowned by the lapping sound of flesh chewed in mouth. The Beast ate till there was nothing but clothing and bones pocketing what was shiny and worth into its fur as it towered over the man it thought maybe the beast was once human and its foul breathe of iron acrid blood cause him to be weak in the knees. The beast tongue was hard to decipher with flesh in its maw but the man knew what it said or deep in his fears he knew. So he ran till his legs carried him to the church of Ezra upon the hill and banged on the heavy wooden doors till his palms and knuckles were bleeding to bone begging any and all to let him in. When the door opened he darted with out question or answer hiding in the darkest corner of the vast cathedral murmuring and removing his own holy symbol praying. "The Legion is real the Beast that Rends is real. Oh Holy Mother of the Mist forgive my wicked ways and embrace so I will not be victim of the Legion. Forgive me and any who do not seek your succor!"
"For Evil to win is for good men to do nothing."
