A written history of the Legion of the Mist
Our story begins before the Legion came to the mist, a time when war was right outside Hadrian's Wall. The 9th Legion is receiving its orders to move north of Hadrian's Wall to put down rebels of the far northern tribes that rose up to fight the Roman Empire. The General of the 9th, Governor Lucius Aemilius Karus, is known to have left in rage from war council meeting. This marks the beginning of the end of the 9th, Rome's Lost Legion.

We look now to the first Cohort, Centurion Zakhari Norbanus Sura and his Optio Manius Maccius Severus. The first Cohort is comprised of the Elite Legionaires. They begin by preparing the cohort to move north of the wall. These men experienced many days of sparring and practice drills to ensure the men are prepared take place. Zakhari knows that there is something unusual about moving north of the wall, so they prepare for as many situations as possible. No matter what preparations are made Zakhari knows that once in combat, the training would kick in, and all the muscle memory would serve these men well. Manius makes sure the equipment in good repair, and the men all have enough supplies for the trek.

Soon comes the day that the 9th are to take their first steps to the march north of the wall. Many men will give their lives on this journey. The first cohort is well prepared for this journey, but nothing can prepare them for the battles that arose after they had marched four days passed the wall. The Barbarians know the moment that the gates opened at the wall and the 9th sets foot on their soil,  they will would strike. They prepare traps and ambushes all throughout the woods and mountains. This, however, is not new to the Legionaries, and they are able to push through with minimal losses.

That changed the sixth day from the wall, and the men were beginning to become weary from the small ambushes, and often times only a few men would respond to the attack and repel them with ease. The main attack begins that day at dusk. Logs were shoved down slopes decimating the cohorts, killing ten to fifteen at a time. Then the raiders jump out of their hiding spots shooting arrows, throwing spears, and all out rushing the legion. This drove the Legion into disarray, and after a few hours of fighting, only the first Cohort remained in their ranks. The rest of the Legionaries flee for their lives or were cut down. Some of the savages begin to cut out the hearts and eat them. Blood ran down their faces and flowed onto their armor.

Ceturion Zakhari decides that they need to move if they are to survive, so he orders a strategic withdraw. The Cohort was able to go most of the way to safety when a heavy mist begins to set in. The raiders were only coming a few at a time. Then mist grew so thick that men loose their sense of direction, and the Cohort  looses its ranks. Soon only Zakhari and Manius were left, loosing many to the fog and the raiders. They fought back to back until they blacked out.

This was the first encounter of the mist.

                                                                               The night of the Vampire!
The first night after emerging from the Mist in a strange new land, Centurion Zakhari and Optio Manius begin to gather information about the realm in which they now abide. Many folks told them of the dangers of the night and how they tend to stay indoors. The Legionaries decided that the locals were just afraid and they felt the need to stay the night outside atop a hill near the church of the "Morninglord." While they were peacefully eating and speaking on the fear of night a bat flies near them and transforms into a Vampire! This Vampire called herself Sabel. Manius Immediately grabbed his spear and struck at the vampire, however he missed and the vampire proceeded to hold him down and threaten to rip out his throat. At this point Centurion Zakhari had drawn his spear and began to move towards the vampire; stopping only to preserve Manius' life. This ended with a word of warning to stay inside at night. The Vampire then left leaving a scar, over Manius' left eye, making it a ghostly white.

                                                                                     The Dead Legion

Centurion Zakhari and Optio Manius began seeing Legionaries from the 9th walking about lost in a state of Limbo since the first night, and the encounter of the Vampire put them onto their toes. These Legionaries were seen in the crypts walking and often times looking and calling for help. Zakhari and Manius went into the crypts below the morning lord's temple hoping to find a way to lead them either into this realm or pass back into their old realm. They fought countless undead to only see a feint whisp, a lost soul, here and there.

There came an Oracle not long after that, which foretold of the Legion's missing men being trapped in the mist. This was a concern that was to be dealt with immediately. Zakhari began focusing all of his waking moments to find a way to rescue the lost men. This took a trip through the mists to find a large amount of dead Legionaries that were slaughtered from the nightmares that awaited there. Zakhari and Manius were crushed upon finding so many dead, and having no way to save them.

It was at this point that Centurion Zakhari had decided that there was no Legate to lead the new Legion and promoted himself to the position. He then appointed Optio Manius to Centurion. Manius then appointed Crassus to the rank of Optio. This allowed the other members to assume a leadership position and gather more men to the cause.

                                                                                          Sudhri Noirlion

After many battles with the undead, Lycanthropes, and Vampires the Legion had gathered a few of the missing ninth, a spartan, and an oracle. It was at this time that Zakhari decided that their old Pilums and Gladius could no longer keep them alive. He began to hunt for a craftsman worthy of our hard earned fang. After a few days we found one, only he was a she and she was the best craftsman that the Legion could have found at the time. Her name was Sudhri Noirlion, she crafted armor and weapons for the Legion. She assisted with the training while we accompanied her to get the materials for the equipment. She was the first stepping stone to the Legion's battles and victories. She will always be remembered.

                                                         The White-Mage

The Legion was rather disheartened by the new realm, many had thoughts of giving up the fight. This is when the Legion met a white-mage by the name of Ruebek. He was a magnificent mage and contributed the Legions mental state of health through his lightheartedness and jests. He was, however, a good man to be in a pinch with. He fought for a week straight with the Legion before taking his leave to continue his journey. After he left the Legion saw the white-mage from time to time and would fight once again side by side.

                                                              Crassus the Spartan

Crassus was one of the first and he would later rise to the rank of Optio. He was a spartan that wanted nothing more than to prove his worth and see his family in the afterlife. The man commanded a monstrous presence and would often see that he made fun of his commanding officer that was recently Promoted to Centurion Manius Maccius Severus. Even though he made fun of Manius the two got along and became good comrades to have in a pinch. May the Spartan find his family in Elysium.

                                                         The Rose of Sorrow

Rose, was first and foremost a friend to those within the Legion. Though there were days they didn't see eye to eye. The first meeting was rather hushed as at the time she was wanted by the Garda. She would leave Roses of Sorrow as her calling card. This was how we new where to find her and often how to find her.

After working with Sudhri's Merchant guild they became close as a family and often times would go and rent the penthouse in the port to relax from a long week. Rose, however, was not one that could not get into Mischief and sometimes caused more harm than good. That did not take away from the qualities that she had; She was loyal, would die for her friends, and often was very good in a pinch.

One day or another while the Legion was out on an expedition,  The Rose of Sorrow was hunted by Sudhri Noirlion for whatever reason, and fell at her hands. When what was left of the Legion had returned and heard of the death they mourned. The Rose of Sorrow was no more.

                                                                      Iron Hand Olivia

Olivia, Rose's Lover...if you could call her that, was an accomplished fighter and often helped the Legion. She was always dressed in black, but every once in a very long time she could be seen in a dress. She was often getting hurt and saved by Centurion Manius. However she was a scary demon that fought like a god. She disappeared from the Legion's sight after they split off the Black Dragon merchants. No one knows anything about her. She may or may not have passed.

                                           Dilanto Ilobade

Dil was a strange elf that seemed to cling around Centurion Manius. She was never healthy and is in truth not a good sight to behold. She had skin issues, was always sick and often could not continue a journey to being so tired. She had issues with speaking common and often could not make friends. She was an outcast much like the Centurion that she clung to. After a few months of them being together and going about fighting the undead and other evils Manius decided to take her to port and under the great tree near the coffee shop he would take a knee and offer her a proposition that one would have never considered. The outcasts had found a place with each other. She accepted.

Centurion Manius had made a few ventures to see if perhaps sailing as far away as possible would allow them to escape the mist, he went on a total of three. When he came back from the Second expedition he searched and found information that pointed her to be dead. He was devastated and Immediately went out on a third, less to find a way to escape and more to find a way to end his sorry existence.

"Goodbye my love may we meet once more in Elysium"
