Eardwulf - "Earth Wolf" From The North of Moonsea
« on: October 23, 2015, 03:02:12 PM »

Name: Eardwulf, "Earth Wolf"
Race: Half-Orc
Gender: Male
Class: Barbarian
Gods: Primarily Talos, also Garagos, Hoar, Bane
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Appearance: Best described as bestial by full-blooded humans, Eardwulf is a massive brute by human standards.
His face looks like it was chiseled with a crowbar. His other eye is lazy, with the surrounding muscles having poor
functionality, leading to only one eye squinting when he targets his gaze. His ears and lips and nose are full of scars in
places where rings used to hang. His black, messy hair - or what's left of it - is gathered to a ponytail.

Markedly, on both his palms, though usually covered under gloves, are raggedly tattooed golden discs, with black skulls
in the middle; The symbols of the feared - or hated - Zhentarim.

Personality: The half-orc isn't entirely unkind and has a sense of tribal honor. His temper, however, isn't of the
best quality and he's fiercely protective of his own pride and those few who he truly views as his friends and equals.
Well smarter than the typical representative of his kind, he has moments of surprising slyness; He learns quickly, though
struggles to place things into their proper contexts. He appears poorly aware, with his lazy eye and poor grasp of
concepts that would come intuitively to many.

He's easily tempted and easily led astray, but at best, his motives could be described as selfish rather than malicious.

The Story As Seen Til' The Misting:

1360 DR:

Born in the northeastern edge of The Ride, an open steppe a hundred miles north of the Moonsea, Eardwulf's tribe's
survival revolved around raids and ambushes to supplement the poor availability of wild game. In 1374 DR, by when
Eardwulf was but fourteen, his father challenged the chieftain of the tribe - and lost. As the son of the failed usurper,
Eardwulf had little choice but to abandon the tribe he was born to.

1378 DR:

Eardwulf had travelled across the steppe and across the mountains of Dragons Pine, stealing or muggling that which
he couldn't hunt for himself. He had lived in caves, and in the open, and in woods, but now he had arrived to Zhentil
Keep. Therein, he was quick to hire himself out as a mercenary, and was soon picked by a group - and it was a group
from which one couldn't easily turn away from. The young half-orc had become a grunt of the Zhentarim! As a token
of his enforced loyalty, his hands were crudely tattooed with the symbols of the organization.

1383 DR:

The year saw a vicious attack by the Netherese on the Zhentil Keep. The keep was razed and it's southern districts saw
the infestation of the undead. Most of Zhentarim organization in Zhentil Keep was destroyed. In the northern districts,
bandits and pirates - Eardwulf now one of them - took shelter, infighting for food and goods an every-day occurrence.

1386 DR:

Now 26 years old, the small pirate ship that Eardwulf was on, slid through open, mirror-clear water, cutting it like a knife.
A bank of heavy fog had suddenly formed ahead, but it was much too late to steer the ship away from it..
