Word spreads quickly as the work goes underway upon the Refuge of the Fifth light - the bastion of the Ezran faith in Vallaki and the whole of eastern Barovia. For some weeks prior there was much competition between some of the local guilds of masons over who would get the contract on the additions and updates to the temple. Eventually it was settled that the Three Hammers group would attend to the task. While some of the common people might outright revile Ezrans as quislings for Ivana Boritsi - most normal people see them as any other priesthood - liers and manipulators and pay them not much mind. Though with the Burgomaster being one of the number and the general spiritual outlook of the people of Vallaki, the faith has began another period of growth.

Along with this a trickle of pilgrims have began to make their way to the grey city from elsewhere in Barovia, further east, and even from Invidia and Borca in the west to have their chance to gaze upon the Refuge of the Fifth Light's own Icon of Danzig, said to depict Ezra the Martyr, her ascension to the Ezra the Guardian, and her first servant Yakov the Acolyte,
these strangers might get strange looks from the serfs and free-farmers beyond the walls but the merchants and inn-keeps of the city have only the Ezrites and their Misty Maiden to thank for the seasonal swell in their pockets... at least for now.

Theft has begun to spike up tremendously in the noble district as reports of missing jewelry with wedding bands and family heirlooms often made out of gold as the most notable kept flooding for the last couple of days with the total estimated to be in the tens of thousands of fleeced goods. While the nearby pawn shop may have been given scrutiny they don't seem to have any of these goods on them if they were to be searched.

Speculations range from one person doing this to it being coordinated among other thieves while others say the fey did it.

No arrests seem to have been made yet and no family ever got their jewelry returned to them.

[A loud commotion came from the Blue Water Inn in the late morning. A woman shrieked, and guards chased a transparent and glowing blue man out into the streets! The man quickly made himself invisible and disappeared without a trace. Through the afternoon, guards could be seen patrolling the area in increased numbers and writing down witness accounts. Rumours quickly spread about a witch thief as men and women complain of their belongings missing.]

[At dawn, survivors of a were-rat attack on the Blue Water emerged from the building, telling others about how during the night a giant were-rat entered the establishment and began to attack others. Those woken by the violence spoke of pushing their beds to their doors, hearing the screams below. Witnesses who ran upstairs and escaped say they saw a small caliban run in with a were-rat chasing it. The door guards tried dealing with the caliban, but were quickly forced to deal with the were-rat threatening them.]

The recent weeks have seen an increased presence of the Vallaki Garda within the walls of the Noble's District. Travelers seeking to enter through either of the main gates would find themselves under the scrutiny of the Garda and questioned regarding their business. Those belonging to the district or whose purpose has been deemed acceptable pass with no further trouble. Those who do not meet the expectation of the Garda find their weapons confiscated and returned only upon departure if they are not turned aside entirely.

Individuals recognized as the faithful of Ezra work alongside the Vallaki Garda to confirm the passage of those seeking to worship at the Refuge of the Fifth Light. These people are encouraged to conduct their matters succinctly.

Additional security has been posted at the Blue Water Inn and a guard is observed stationed outside each exit. Within, few rooms remain available after the earlier arrival of a large procession and tell has it that these people were prominent enough to staff their own uniformed guard.

A traveler of Invidian or Gundarakite heritage by the name of Vince Székely has been seen asking impertinent questions to Barovians and local travelers about the War of Copper Knives. Word on the street is the man wishes to write about the conflict and learn more about it from others, especially those who fought or participated in the conflict in some form or manner. He makes mention in passing those interested in discussing it can reach him at the Broken Bell.

Word has it that in the middle of the night, a templar wearing a metal mask came out of the Rectory carrying a large wooden coffin. The templar walked all the way with the coffin to the Refuge of the Fifth Light.

After a lengthy absence, the Gundarakite historian Székely has been seen inquiring about those with firsthand knowledge of the War of Copper Knives to assist in a written text on the bloody conflict. At the day’s end he visited the Refuge of Fifth Light.

In the morning, a pair were seen closely investigating the pentagram. One, a man clad in the bright red and gold armor of a Lightcarrier of the Cult of the Morninglord, the other a woman in purple hued armor, wearing an amulet engraved with a sunrise. After a time looking over the scene, the two were seen headed north, where the woman gathered in cloth a small amount of gnawed remains interspersed with clumps of fur that lay scattered across the street, before the pair left in the direction of the Slums.

An armored man wearing Ezrite symbols examines the pentagram before going into the Refuge to ask the Templars for help to take that off.

A black haired armored man wearing Ezrite symbols can be seen in the noble district attempting to convince the faithful of Ezra to find shelter from the Vroloks and their minions within the walls of the Refuge of the Fifth Light, on holy ground.

He offers holy water and holy symbols to those not swayed by his words, to help them stay stafe in the night.

After that he retires in prayer.

A woman with thick Falkovnian accent has been seen frequenting the Blue Water Inn, sometimes meeting with a man wearing a screaming hawk helmet. Occasionally they disappear into the upstairs meeting room for hours at a time, the woman paying sizeable sums of coin in an effort to persuade the hosting staff not to disturb them.

Recently arrived within Vallaki is a representative of the Gatteux noble house, the eldest daughter, Phillberte. She has been seen taking residence within the blue water inn enjoying the locals as well as the city itself. From time to time she can be seen bringing maps up to her room.

[A startled Toret Roman Tobeichik comes out of the Refuge of the Fifth Light, suddenly removing a particular notice before it caught the attention of the Nobles' District's denizens. There are rumors circulating what the contents of this notice involved, some claim it was a special ceremony or an unusual wedding announcement. Regardless, whatever it was it no longer remains by the Refuge of the Fifth Light's doorsteps.]

Rumors swirl of a new resident taking up a room in the Bluewater in. A Dementliuse noble by the name of 'Lady Beauregard', the first night of her stay is marked by bright burning, flickering candles and some form of Mordentish ritual chant. When the white haired woman emerges in the morning, she is accompanied by a black cat that no-one can seem to remember arriving with her...
