Improved Models Override

I took the liberty of combining several improved model overrides and compiling them into a single download, but more importantly I only added the improvements that should not cause any visual conflict with the original aesthetic of the game. If you want to slightly improve the default models, without straying too far from the vanilla look of the game and without perceiving things drastically different from those that do not have the same overrides installed, then this override might be for you.

Spoiler: show

Improved_models override.rar
(Click the link to download, extract the downloaded files to the override folder in your game directory)

Includes the following:

  • Improved tesselated heads (male and female)
  • Improved hand models (male and female)
  • Improved feet models (male and female)
  • Improved neck models (male and female)
  • Improved chest model (male only)
  • Improved pelvis model (male only)

  • Improves about 9 existing vanilla heads, does not add any new content
  • Includes the hand update for the broader body type as well (male only)
  • Other (body)parts from the overrides were intentionally left out for better consistency with the vanilla game content and CEP content

All credit goes to the original authors of the mods. Unfortunately due to the disappearance of IGN's NWVault I no longer possess up-to-date links back to the original mods.

Does anyone have the link to override that removes the lens flare from the bioware tilesets? I know I downloaded it once upon a time and now I can't find it anymore.

This override is just a small personal project. The appearance of some creatures was bothering me, so I decided to fix these 'purple eagles' and to slightly upgrade some of the more commonly encountered creatures on the servers I play on. The updated textures stay pretty true to the original aesthetic of the overall game.

No Purple Eagles Override

This override may be expanded on in the future, but these are the retextures it currently includes:

Deer - Deer are less brightly coloured, less orange tinted and slightly more realistic looking
Demon (Balor) - Demons are less brightly coloured and have more ancient looking bone armour
Earth Elemental - Earth Elementals should have an overall more down-to-earth and earthly appearance
Fire Mephit - Fire Mephits received some minor touch ups
House Cat - House Cats (black & white) no longer have that creepy Cheshire Cat look on their face
Ice Mephit - Ice Mephits received some minor touch ups
Imp - Imps are less brightly coloured, now have an impish smile and their eye colour matches their portrait
Raven - Ravens no longer look like purple eagles
Troll / Troll Chieftain - Trolls and Troll Chieftains are less brightly coloured
Wereraven - Wereravens no longer look like wereblackbirds and colour match with the new Raven texture

Krenshar texture override

I basically just tried to make look more like this:

Edit: to keep this thread neat and tidy, if you have any comments about this or anything else I made, probably wiser just to use this existing thread.
It also contains some other overrides.
...  My wererat override, take it if you want.

I recommend keeping dark_majico tree override if you have it, it adds to the tileset.

I made a small override to make the spell numerals match the Ravenloft GUI more, its simply roman numerals with the Kargatane's Nosferatu font.
I will look out of place if you use another gui, I'm sure.

Ravenloft GUI companion spell level radials

Re post of the Baldures Gate 1 & 2 spell casting chants/sounds. Please note not all spell schools have a unique set of chants, Divination and Abjuration share the chants with another school I can't remember which at the moment, it won't work renaming the files using the same name format for the missing schools (a shame, I tried). You can use either set provided or mix your own preferred versions. Ive included my own personal preferred mixture of 1 and 2.

My personal mixture of the two:

An updated version of the Neverwinter Nights spell icons. Different variations exsist on the internet of this but this is my preffered version.

Toro's Rural Override: http://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/images/texture/toros-rural-override

I recommend keeping dark_majico tree override if you have it, it adds to the tileset.

Will Toro's override the Rural sets I mentioned previously? The transition for the stream and forrest entry is amazing.

This is a little side project I've worked with for a while, felt it was finally polished enough to share it:

http://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/images/texture/specular-environment-maps

It tweaks the reflection of objects (such as metals). Here's a before and after image:

This is not an override per se.
It does function like one, but has a modified rladdons.hak to allow it to overwrite all assets that are unique to PotM, and all the original NWN assets and marry to two to form a singular look.

This is an alternative gui/icon set specifically tailored for PotM 2.0 and later. It provides custom icons for all original NWN content and PotM's custom feats such as Lightning Rage, and all custom spells, such as Withering Palm and attempts to make them all feel like they were designed together. Another goal of this project was to make the gameplay easier, especially as it pertains to the status/condition icons so that you can tell if you are dazed, diseased, level drained, hastened, strength increased, dexterity increased et al. These icons are all based on the spell effects that they represent and will make sense to anyone who is using them all together and covers PotM's custom statuses as well. The feats for the metamagic feats and their spellbook radials correspond to each other now for ease of play as well. And since these sort of icon packs usually only provide the spellbook icons for spells but no scrolls I made my own scroll pack for all the spells too, that share the same icon.

The base icon set should at least be partially familiar to anyone that has ever used the NWN2 icons that were once available, but while the old one that was on NWNVault for a long time was just spells, this one is everything and I exported/converted them all myself to achieve the best quality/consistency that I could.  All radial icons, all status/condition icons, all feats, all spells, all skills, all class features, all classes, all cleric domains and anything else that could be made uniform was modified. I attempted to ensure everything had an accurate representative icon. I have been working on this (instead of playing, hah!) since PotM 2.0 came out and I think I have filled all gaps, so that spells like Darkfire, Negative Energy Protection etc that were not in the NWN2 set had unique and representative icons, as well as making new ones for all our new spells and feats and class features.

I don't have an Assassin or a Blackguard or a Pale Master or high level Bard etc etc so I was not able to verify that it all looked right in-game. So please, anyone that uses this pack let me know what you think if you play some of these more unique characters. I am very open to criticism, hit me up in pm or tell. I realize these won't be everyone's cup of tea, its merely an attempt to provide an alternative to NWN's monochromatic look that is compatible with all our custom content. I went through several drafts on most of these icons before being satisfied, but if one or two are not to your liking, feedback would be more than welcome.

As far as how they are packaged, I considered just putting the whole lot into the hak and as it IS unique to potm that would suffice and make it easier to install and manage. However, doing it this way means that if you are a player who plays on multiple servers that all the shared assets between the two will use the same set. Pluses and minuses to each way.

Anyway, enough explaining, better to show you...

To remove the Floppy Disk icon for save character, go into your override and delete ife_x2skfoc.tga.
That icon was sort of an easter egg, I came up with that as an homage to the games of our youth. :P

Alright thanks/ what would I need to delete to get the old Activate item icon back? :)

I really like these Icons particularly for spells and abilities. If I encounter any bugs I shall let you know :)
