Knuckle Bags
« on: March 27, 2015, 11:20:10 AM »
A bag exactly like the ones for Herbs/Alchemy, but sold at general merchants like the Vistani on player entry. Would such even be a considered option or be able to be worked into how the Npcs remove them from a player inv or detect them?

You mean for skeletal (or skeleton?) knuckles?
Why not just make them stackable per 5 or 10?

The Skeleton's Knuckle, for the tonics. And stackable is good to. Just assumed they didn't go that way for other collected goods that they wouldnt go that way for knuckles either. :/But anything that would help in collecting them without having a sea of loose knuckles in your bag would be nice.

To make knuckles stack-able, the baseitem 2da file would have to be edited, in the tophak, and everyone would have to DL it. Sounds easy enough right, it's just one entry for the Misc. Small model.. the trouble is, if you make it stackable, then every other thing that uses that model is also stack-able.. off hand, that is several herbs, and many other one square sized things. some of those things might even have powers, the acorn of visions for example. Now you run into scripting problems. NWN does not handle stacks well- that is why the default stack sizes are 10. In the case of knuckles, and even herbs- the base scripting would have to be changed to 1 recognize a stack item, 2 take the appropriate amount, 3 adjust the stack size. The current herbalism craft script, doesn't have stacks in it's scripting, that' s why some potions do not stack in the cauldron when you make them. (See invis, bloodfrenzy.) It's a nightmare for the developers if they had to go through and adjust everything to add stacks.

Only certain items can be made stackable, knuckles are not one of them. I think the best thing to put skeleton knuckles in at the moment is a wooden box or a leather bag, the developers have to strike a balance between using up resources in the module and the need to implement new content, and with the versatility of inventory management we have right now I can't honestly say I think creating a knuckle bag is necessary or even appropriate.
