General feedback about laborers NPCs
« on: March 03, 2015, 10:52:36 AM »
The added NPCs add a nice touch to the atmosphere, I noticed however that they do not react with fear to the approach of tieflings or calibans and most seems rather statics too.

I can look into the reactions, I probably missed a variable somewhere.

I don't know what you mean by that second comment.

I,ll double check again, but last I passed by the western outskirt none of them were moving. They were all frozen in place, might have been the higher server load at the time though. i'll let you know if I see them frozen again.
Best Regards!

Yeah, the laborers are completely static; the stand in one place and maintain one animation (the greatsword-on-the-shoulder animation).

Casting spells in their presence also doesn't seem to raise OCR or cause a reaction either; I only tested with druid spells but it might apply to other classes' spells as well.

No, I just spent some time watching them, they move about randomly, which is how I intended (not counting the wood-chopping/rock-breaking ones). It seems like sometimes it takes awhile for these animations to start firing, though -- but I've noticed this with all NPCs/monsters.

I've come to notice they do in fact move. I think it was that, as before when I watched over them (sometime during IG's summer or early fall), they would linger in their spots, regardless of how long you stood near them or nearby. Thankfully they're working again.

I found out the reason they aren't reacting to spells and OCR and whatnot and it is indeed because I missed a variable. I'll get it updated ASAP.

The variables are right for that behavior, so it must be something else causing it to happen.

Having hostile mobs around them wouldn't happen to effect anything, would it? Because every time I've went through the eastern outskirts of the Vilage of Barovia around dusk the NPC's have usually had a fight with one of the raccons in the area, and then proceed not to go inside.

I really don't know, but that might be it. Raccoons aren't supposed to be hostile so it's definitely a bug.
