Ambient Sounds
« on: December 25, 2014, 02:55:53 AM »
This may sound strange, but there are two sounds that bother me emotionally when I am within a town or city.  I am not sure if they can be changed, but every so often, I will hear the voice of a little girl saying:

"Don't leave me, please don't leave me!"  or  "They're gone."

Can these be removed?

Ahh the village, strahd has turned it into a dark depressing place and the little girl is supposed to convey her sense of loss. I think the only way not to hear her though is turn off the sound effects in your options menu.

"Has your daughter's leg healed"
"Yes it has! . She's...up and about now"
"Glad to hear it"

I think those ambiant sounds are made to tug at your emotions. The town of Barovia Village is supposed to be depressing, harrowing, it is supposed to make you feel bad, dread, and hurt for them. That's the intent.

To answer your question (which i will do my best on since i am christmas drunk)

no. The sounds are part of a looping sound set thingamabob in the area properties sound options. The whole track would have to be removed so you would first have to identify it and then figure out how to disable the single line of ambiant sound track it belongs to in your end of the machine.

Or, you can mute ambiant noises in Barovia vlilage.

The sounds were originally used to portray the "Wailing Plague" in the original official campaign. I made a custom sound object with the sounds I felt best portrayed the misery of the village.

It's possible to remove them, but I'm not going to do that.
