Snake Skin Crafting Material (Enchanting?)
« on: December 15, 2013, 09:31:49 PM »
I had no idea where to even post the suggestion.

But..this is about the crafting materials used for backings. We currently of the types have two that both grant +1 move silently when used to craft armor or boots. Snake skin just gives +1. We also have Ancient dire
crocodile, but this material grants +1 ms, +3 discipline and antagonize skill bonus.

Now if somebody knows what regular crocodile does ( I dont)

So, not only to remove potential redundant crafting material, but makes it more desirable for enchanting, or even just as ordinary use.
Bit of comparison.

Lets make snake skin +2 move silently! +6 when enchanted

I went to try out the snake skin backing for armor as this is supposed to be our move silently material for rogues. Im very disappointed with the outcome just like the boots. its a total of 3 for the skill. Any armor we have ingame right now when equipped trumps this bonus without the experience cost.

When we have ebon tiger backings that give benefit of +6 hide bonus at least.

Snake skin is just meant to be a very mundane crafting resource for lower level crafters to make some basic stuff with. There's plenty of other things that will yield the similar bonuses.

Perhaps we can come up with some other resource that would give the +2 base?

why not raise snakeskin and make the soft fur the lower tier one. The fur you get from giant raccoons or whatever

What about those fire snakes in the desert? Give a fire save and higher ms bonus with some pelts on them?
Thus when enchanted they grant a fire dr and higher ms and a cold vuln?

Then what do you suggest? Because all the crafting materials that have a ms bonus on them end up at +3 when enchanted,. One ancient crocodile hides does that, but players use that for different bonuses/reasons.

also for being a lower quality resource, theres a lot other items you can get for the same exp price that outshine it by miles.
and if it was intended for lower level crafters, then why is it possible to make an enchanted version as well?

Because.....enchanting is a craft??? just a thought.

+3 ms boots that I have shoted above, are the same exp cost as getting +9 disc, +8 reflex steel plated boots made from winter wolf skin.

yes but thats more of a hide than MS. since everything in that cave is a SD... save for the actual shadow fiends. lest I believe the shadow snakes are SD as well

Sounds like that'd be uh.  Fire resistance and reflex saves?
