looks like you're running it in compatibility mode, try turning that off in the Configure menu

Thx blue

Slashed all the compatibility, had trouble running .exe so I ran directly from the drive, still texture problems.

Running windows 7 home premium.

Sliding video options around, still wonky.  Gonna mess with my windows settings and trial and error it, but I'm stumped.

clueless, and I'm a computer genius.

gonna fix the hard way.  Uninstall nwn, reinstall, reinstall haks and overrides.

if this don't fix it, don't know what to do.

haha fresh compatibility problems, go figure.

Gonna beat my head on the wall a few hours, then maybe find a new game if I lose patience.

Getting so tired of this dinosaur's issues with modern technology.  One would think compatibility should be simpler as windows progresses further, but nothing about NWN ever made sense to me in the first place.

Can a moderator/administrator modify the topic title to "Texture problem in Windows 7" ?

When I finish sorting this out, I'm just going to post links to EVERYTHING you need to run NWN PERFECTLY in Windows 7.

Good luck with that. I've gone through every hoop and trick I can think of and I STILL get OpenGL lockup crashes on occasion.

No, I don't mean to turn off Windows 7 compatibility, I'm talking about the textures you're using. In the NWN configuration you can change your textures, and one of them is a 16-bit "compatibility mode" meant for much older computers (remember, this game was originally released in 2002). Run NWN's "configure" utility from the NWN main window, select "textures" and make sure "compatibility mode" is turned off. You want Windows 7 compatibility turned on. Also, make sure you didn't install the game to the "Program Files(x86)" folder.

Yeah man it almost makes me think we'd be better off buying the damn rights to the game, redrawing all the matrice coordinates in open GL and just patenting the pathfinding ourselves.

I seriously tried everything I could think of.  You know we've been playing this game over a decade right? You also know we've been fixing bugs for a decade then.

You can't tell me that NWN isn't just a jazzed up Baldur's Gate II with a single player spin.

And you can't tell me that it wasn't made WORSE than that game, and you can't tell me that isn't SAD.

We need a mf'in Shadowkeeper, we need nice GUI software editor and we need some pathfinding quickly.

Sorry for all the cursing, I just feel this game aging me to a midlife crisis.

Yeah seriously, we should just buy the game and chip it apart and put it back together and sell that as Ravenloft Nights or something.

Outside of installation and pre-debugging (still on it), the biggest problems are seriously that they drew all the polygons before the maps and then imposed the polygons on top of each other over the map instead of imposing the map over the polygons and writing all the pathfinding to the processor.

I can't think of a single reason why they didn't figure this out and just release an update and fix every single problem with the game and work from there, no loading screens, no massive heaps of debugging every time you want to write a variable somewhere.  This is 2013 going on 2014 and we still sit around staring at 5 second loading screens with archaic technology.

After we write that ENGINE, we could just copy-paste all the lore here, dump it on a another forum and start fresh with a modern game.

And while we're add it, we should program another dimension to the game: (x,y,z) [depth], IV (time), and V:

[wiki=]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five-dimensional_space[/wiki]

And call that DM-TIME-SPACE. >.<

Dm's would be in DM time space, and the game would flow normally outside it, and they could insert time variable configurations on a custom GUI interface.

Dm's could then be PLAYERS, and push a BUTTON to make an EVENT happen from a group of variable EVENTS from a side-tray to surprise themselves and other players and rp out the consequences.

What you think?

I get the same washed out textures on mine too Blue and I noticed that my other textured options are grayed out as if I cannot change them.  Ever seen that before?

Could be a number of things, but try messing with your resolution, probably best if you can set it to 1600x900 or/and get a window instead of a full screen that doesn't warp your desktop out.  You might have to fish around the internet for NWN texture pack plugins, or maybe a key file somewhere is corrupted and that's blocking the whole thing.

You're in Windows 7 home, correct?

As blue mentioned earlier, you might be blocking yourself off with another compatibility protocol that precludes the texture options as well.

You probably didn't have the other textures installed when you initially installed the game.

Hmmm.. Well since I haven't seen the box in over seven years I'll have to try and locate those texture packs and find a way to enable them without re-installing I suppose.   :?

I know it's woefully off-topic but I've been watching the kickstarter on a Megaman Legends 3 knockoff and it's gone into the millions already. I'm sure there'd be similar demand for a current NWN-esque engine and toolkit for people to start making campaigns and PWs. GET STARTED ALREADY SOREN.

Ok, so updating to 1.69 and running the critical rebuild seems to have fixed things.

Now I'm going to reinstall haks and overrides and get on, wish me luck.
