laptop shopping?

So I have recently started shopping around for a new laptop, I was hoping you guys might be able to give me some advice on decent machines that I should look at. I would like to be able to carry it around with me so that I can use it in my classes and do work on but also be able to run nwn decently. Don't know if I am asking too much out of one machine there though, what do you guys think?

I bought an Asus for school and NWN and it runs beautifully. I think it is the best laptop I have ever owned. I bought it new but it was on sale at the time because it was technically an older model so the ones out now are likely better than mine. Also, my Ex fixes computers and he said that from what he has seen so far Asus makes really good computers and they tend to last. Hope that helps some.

about $800 is where I want to be, don't really want to go into the 1,000 range if I can keep from it.

These two laptops will give much more "bang for your buck", although weight could be an issue. All about what you're willing to carry, really.
