Maudlyn Dupont

"I can still hear those deals my father whispered with the devil, echoing through time. They ripple in space, even now, before my very eyes."

Maudlyn was born in a Forgotten Realm, to a city by the name of Riativin,
also commonly known as the City of Thieves, colloquially.

She is the only child of Eldon'vae, a high ranking demonologist & magician, involved in the deepest levels of aristocracy & statecraft in surrounding regions, and abroad.
Maudlyn never knew her mother, but can remember her singing when she was very young; her father claims she died in birthing her, and otherwise produced an abusive relation & social structure to her formative years. Indeed, Maudlyn is the product of much misery & suffering.

She was enrolled in a ruthless & clandestine assassin school at a young age called, simply, Shadow Academy, where she graduated with distinctions, despite her perceived as invalid gender, and, until that point: race, being of an elven lineage. She gained the name Argali (which is a kind of mountain goat) upon enrollment to this school.

On her first ever mission, she was assigned to a group of fellow graduates & classmates, where she was ultimately betrayed, and left to die as she plummeted into the cliff-side ocean, and slipped beneath that castle's waves. When she emerged, she was changed, and lived a wretched & violent history before travelling into a mistbank on a forest road, lost. When she arrived in the Realms of Dread she largely wandered, vagrant, and haunted by her past...

Until she met the preacher; a man of God,
and boon servant of the Lord & Savior, and her Redeemer: Jesus Christ.
She never knew his name.

That was five years ago.
Circa 772
Spoiler: show

Maudlyn has striking red hair, and a pair of mismatched eyes: one green, and the other brown.
This condition is called: Heterochromia.

"The way of love"
"When I was a child, I understood as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is  charity."

1 Corinthians 13:11-13

entry 13

[The entry consists of a sketching
of a man hanging from a crucifix.]

if I can take it, I can make it
If I can put all these broken pieces, back together again... if I can feel the wind upon my face, and the light upon my eyes... your warmth upon my breast.
if I can take it, I can make it

I love you, forever

I love you, forever

I love you, forever

I love you, forever

I love you, forever

I love you, forever

I love you, forever

I love you, forever

I love you, forever

I love you, forever

Entry 14

I wonder,
as I often do.

I like to stay busy, somehow.
Idle hands are the devil's play things.

When will we be delivered?
Hither to where we've been brought?

When will we be forgiven?
Will we deserve it or not?

When will we think of the children?
Inherent to what we have wrought?

Because of these I keep on fighting,
for the Glory, the temple of God.

[A masterpiece is presented.]
...I will not fall to doom....

I will bloom.

WITH WINGS AT MY CALL!

Yet I Continue

You never forget their faces, no, not really.
They leave an impression, a scar.
Try as you might, someone will always see.
Someone will know. Now, the truth is:
Their opinion is not it. There is but one truth.

Entry 15

iAi, Ren Yalo!
(rough elvish translation: 'Hail, my heart!')

Drowning, consuming,
subsumed in illusion.

Its proven,
these things are delusion.

Instrusion,
6'O'clock
On the dot
The din makes my heart drop
it pops
like a bomb
and all along,
I was wrong.
They're all gone.
I'm a song, singing to a memory, of better times; of soon to be's
Like roots & trees, we'll grow, until then? Only God knows.

Go in peace, then, my heart.

"God bless you, always."

I can still remember my childhood,
It permeates from my being. These hands have known such slaughter, and yet? To be delivered from such affliction:
To so irrevocably give witness to an all consuming creational force, completely above and beyond the means of any science or convention agreed upon by men, often to the utter enslavement of everyone affected by such lofty and inventive notions.

How could this happen? How could so many be so under the spell of men? Of Satan? That most sly of serpents. That brigand, always awaiting me in the next shadow.
... he pulled my tooth again. Perhaps the weight of my sin.. he can use it against me. It gives him license, but not authority. NO. The devil has not gotten the best of me, yet.

Your Grace; consume me.

Your Mercy; imbue me.

Make me a new me. Show me charity, where there was none, lend me character, within the slums.
May your Glory be manifest, and ready, and apparent.
May your enemies be dashed and scattered.
Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, (I say unto thee), arise.
And lay waste unto all who oppose His divine will.
His Perfect ordinance;
may we deliver our charge:

True.

Hallelujah

Entry 16

[A coloring depiction of a massive unicorn-helmed warrior arising from a body of water commands the page.
This is amidst a massive planar cycle, and a solitary observer at a hillock on the foreground.]

From the echelons, she comes...
Of the epochs, she speaks.
For enigmas are known,

In eternity's throne.

Argali.
Maudlyn.
Argali!
Somebody...
Maudlyn!
ARGALI
MAUDLYN
Anybody...

Please,
save me.

All she could recall.. was the cheers and jeers of those who watched her and Morvayn in those pits.
It was all a game- despite the climes & portends here she was bearing arms against her very own.

Some sparring was never remiss~
They clashed as equals for a long time, each gaining a hand or a half over the other in any given span yet never finding a sure opening.
It was apparent neither were used to the rules of their current contest, yet they met with equal resolve to hazard a solution.
The elf was a rare sight- full of bravado and shouting her name like some foreign sensation.
Yet, when, their bout met with a lull, when the pair almost seemed to hesitate in their actions, the elf, Argali, yielded,
blessed her opponent, and made her way, wounded, from the arena. She was the only combatant to yield in the entire affair.

Argali, she called herself when she cut her opponent.
Argali, as she feinted and flourished.
Argali, as the arena grew bloody.
Argali, until she yielded,
and was Maudlyn once more.

The rains they
I remember the rain

I can remember the rain, and the bloom.

Do you remember?

Remember who you are.

[A lone wolf ambles against a boreal tempest.]

Its cold outside.
So I keep telling myself,
over and over.

I hear those words more than any others.
From myself, from the others; whoever they be.

Its cold outside.

And yet if home is where the heart is...
why have I been led down this road?

Why is there no hold, no sanctuary for me?
My God bid me adieu. I am made the villain.
Black heart.
Glass arm.
Nerve of yarn.

Jesus Christ,  deliver us...
I have ventured so far now, and though the harvest is ever nigh,
and I can see through both my eyes, I have yet to realize: home.

Where is my heart?
And yet I continue

Spoiler: show

Ad Finem
For no weapon formed against me shall prosper,
these scars build character. These flaws turn to cause.
This spirit never spent, until its purpose met.

Another year has gone today,
and so I mark a row of graves.
I thank my God for still as now,
I stand among the rank & proud.

I stand among the bold & loud.
The meek & stout.
The true & tried,
the big surprise.

All praises due to the Most High.
All glory is of God.

[An elven damsel reflects over a battlefield.]

We are called not to judge, to persecute, to condemn,
but to love and cherish and suffer for.

Though this burden is great, your strength is greater!
This spirit unconquered through time or space.
For this world and its fashions are passing things,
passing away, yet the spirit remains; unswayed.

Tomorrow yields another dawn,
get to it then, it won't be long
till these days pass in to song
The spirit waits, the water's calm..

Your Glory

Your Honor

Your Inheritence

Loose! Your heavenly host!
The bonds & yoke! Broken!
In Jesus Christ name!
The curse and affliction! Lifted!
By divine providence & authority invested in this spirit!
JESUS CHRIST! Deliver us from evil, on this most auspicious day,
in your name we pray.

I remember my sword Instructor fondly.
Like the father I never had.

[A sketching of a foreign style is represented, likely a copy from another source.]

Such tales he had.
If anything, after years under his black hands, he wasn't telling me everything.

Ah, Fiore.

[A man is shown dueling another.]

I but pray I am worthy to carry this burden.
In His name.

[An elderly gentleman brandishes a sword amidst a sea of sigils.]

I never write about them... like I'm afraid to.
Like I might admit they mean something to me,
by their inclusion. Like.. we were bound together.

By purpose.
By destiny.

Iridni gave me this amulet.. though I so uncouthly left my kin behind.
In fury & madness. What good was I then? Certainly I found my way,
yet,
it has only led me back to you.
And I can smile,
and you can be proud.

I'm coming home.

[Men are depicted riding storms with majesty & grace.]

How foolish & blind they might be,
how they may feign & dint to deign.
With eyes of flame, and righteous reign;
I will not stay fallen.

I will rise,
from day to night,
from pain or fright,
from pit to flight,
from malice & spite.
I will fight.
I will bite.
I will roar.

We will soar,
like the epics unto an age,
lost & yet discovered,
uncovered through couth & rhyme
these sands of time are numbered.

Now my brother,
Now my sister,
the time has come for slumber.

Yet to it then,
and then again,
I return uncumbered.

~

I speak to you in planes you feel, but scantly comprehend.
I am your race, your friend, despite whatever they may lend.
The contrary is quite boring- if I were human, I'd be snoring.
Yet instead, I am led, by this head, against the dead,

nd they have fled,
against the name of Jesus.

My king, my sword,
my peace,
my honor.

To the death of us:
Not in man or woman but in God I trust.

Sword Saint

[ A stern faced youth penetrates the parchment. ]

What I remember most about my master... was his smile.

He did so where he pleased. It was unmistakable. He was in control.

Control.

Such a curious notion.
Am I in control? Or have I been a pawn all along.
No. I know better. These scars are hard fought, and long healed.
These muscles & tendons the product of misery & torment.
Though not all of it was forced on me, no, I chose my path.
But he  showed me the way.

Sword Saint
Chapter II

Heritage

Argali sat so familiar & precarious..

O yonder von visage.
Such spacious wonder.

Her pipe crackled alighting her face, an ember like stars in her eyes.
Elven heritage afforded her certain clemencies she had historically taken for granted.
In particular, her long life cycle. She had seen a generation rise & fall.

Now was anew.

And she had never felt this way.
This beating in her chest... this life,  this vitality.
It was almost too much to bear. But beared it she did,
And the future was yet to come.

She thanked God for what was afforded her.

There at her bonfire, she dreamed such dreams, among the smoke & embers.
