Louise Foucault

Quote
Name: Moriset Foucault
Relation to PC: Father
NPC Location: Near Chateaufaux when at home, or else at the location of his latest project
Occupation: Architect
Description of the NPC (less than 100 words): Moriset Foucault is a perpetually distracted man, rarely having eyes for anything but his work. His hair is black, beginning to go grey as signs of his age catch up to him. For his wife and daughter, he will usually be able to spare some attention, but the conversation tends to inevitably either turn back to his work, in which case it can continue for hours, or else end abruptly when pleasantries run out. When speaking to noble patrons and those he needs to impress, he can muster the requisite niceties, though he finds the affair exhausting.

A beautiful woman with the equine features of the Brag subtype of Fey, and who Louise somewhat resembles, she still appears in the flower of her youth even as Moriset's age catches up to him. She is flighty and rarely concerned with the affairs of the human nations of the Core, having been raised by her full blooded fey mother. She is the one who taught Louise magic, and clearly knows a great deal of it herself, though she rarely shows her full abilities. She comes and goes at her own whim, appearing for days or weeks or months, before vanishing again for potentially years without a word.

Quote
Name: 'Grandmother'
Relation to PC: Grandmother
NPC Location: Unknown

Description of the NPC (less than 100 words): Louise's fullblooded Fey grandmother. She does not know her name, nor has she ever met her. She has a few wild and fantastical stories from her mother Agnes about her, but nothing to go on as to the full truth or falsity of those stories. Louise's mother has promised that 'Grandmother' will come for Louise when she is 'ready', but is unrelentingly vague about what precisely that means. Louise does not know anything about her other grandparent, nor the circumstances of her Grandmother's dalliance.

NPC Location: Quesnel Manor, Chateaunoir
Description: Gaston is the current Baronet of the House of Quesnel and a respected figure within the family. Quote
NPC Name: Pierre Quesnel
Relation to PC: Father
NPC Location: Quesnel Manor, Chateaunoir
Description: Pierre is the third son of Gaston. An energetic and restless man who did not always show interest in the family business. Quote
NPC Name: Henri Quesnel
Relation to PC: Uncle
NPC Location: Quesnel Manor, Chateaunoir
Description: Henri is the oldest son of Gaston but due to his poor health he is unlikely to inherit the title of Baronet. A brilliant and ruthless trader, he never saw any problem as anything less than an opportunity. Unfortunately, he was always frail and sickly as a child, requiring the use of a simple wheelchair or a walking stick when moving about. His condition has worsened and resulted in him being bedbound and often catatonic. Despite the family pouring resources into finding doctors, none have been able to heal him of his ailment.

Quote
NPC Name: Beatrice-Anne Quesnel

NPC Location: Chateaufaux
Description: Beatrice-Anne is the second wife of Henri after his first passed away. A Port-á-Lucine socialite, Beatrice-Anne is the heir to a modestly wealthy noble family with connections in Borca. With flagrant disregard for House Quesnel's austerity, Beatrice-Anne spends her time traveling Dementlieu and beyond to enjoy parties among the aristocracy. She is strongly advocating for House Quesnel's succession to be given to her children, despite Henri having living children by his first wife still.

Quote
NPC Name: Serge Quesnel
Relation to PC: Uncle
NPC Location: Quesnel Manor, Chateaunoir
Description: Serge is the second son of Gaston and known to be perhaps the biggest spender of the family. Wenever there is a banquet or gathering in the Questel manor, it is almost always Serge's doing. As Henri becomes more and more likely to pass away, Serge relies on being the second eldest son, as well as his many friends, to become the next in line for succession.

Quote
NPC Name: Lucien Quesnel
Relation to PC: Great Uncle
NPC Location: Family trading house in Mordent
Description: Lucien is the younger brother of Gaston, an experienced and shrewd trader and banker. Of all of Gaston's son, Lucien only truly respects Henri because of his business acumen. Since Henri's condition worsened, it is believed that Lucien is also vying to succeed Gaston as Baronet, believing his nephews to be incapable.

Quote
NPC Name: Lysette Quesnel
Relation to PC: Cousin
NPC Location: Unknown
Description: Lysette is a daughter of Serge who went missing when she and her mother were travelling to Richemulot a few years ago. The mother was found murdered, but Lysette hade tracelessly vanished, presumed kidnapped for ransom. The lead of the family Gaston claims no demands have reached him, but some of the family suspect he is withholding information and refusing to pay. And so Lysette's unknown fate is a topic of much grief and anger within the family even to this day.

Vesnia Endymion

Quote
Name: Xenophon Duskrose
Relation to PC: Father
NPC Location: Neblus, Darkon
Occupation: Sentinel of the Eternal Order
Description of the NPC (less than 100 words): Xenophon Duskrose is an elf of stern countenance and judging nature, with most of his time spent attending to the Shrine of the Spirits, the Eternal Order’s temple in the mostly-elven city of Neblus. Xenophon and his daughter are not on speaking terms, with Xenophon having harsh words for Vesnia when she got romantically involved with and married a human.

Quote
Name: Ventusa Duskrose
Relation to PC: Mother
NPC Location: Deceased
Occupation: (Formerly) Captain in the Imperial Elven Navy
Description of the NPC (less than 100 words): Ventusa and her crew were led by cruel happenstance into the Demiplane of Dread centuries ago, her starwing, the Intrepid, crash-landing in Mordent, resulting her and her crew being marooned. A cold welcome from the dour Mordentish nobility resulted in them eventually venturing north to Darkon when the Mists revealed it. It was not long after arriving in Darkon that Ventusa’s crew had their memories of their lives spent in the phlogiston eroded and replaced by memories of a life lived in Darkon. Realizing what was happening, Ventusa saw her memoirs put to parchment.

In time, even she couldn’t outrun Darkon’s curse; what was once full memories of adventures in Wildspace became vague recollections of time spent at sea. Her memoirs, later discovered by her daughter, were thought by author and reader both to be a short-lived foray into fiction writing, though Vesnia did find great joy in reading them.

Quote
Name: Bryce Endymion
Relation to PC: Husband
NPC Location: Il-Aluk Meridian, Necropolis
Occupation: N/A
Description of the NPC (less than 100 words): Vesnia’s human husband, whom she lost in the Requiem. Despite her frequent attempts to pretend otherwise, not a day goes by where she doesn’t think of him, and wonder about his ultimate fate. As it turns out, Vesnia’s worst fears are a reality: Bryce isn’t dead, but neither is he alive. Like the other inhabitants of Il-Aluk, he has joined the Slain.

Description of the NPC (less than 100 words): Nathalie d'Espivantt is a respectable woman of sixty, always ready with a smile and kind word. She is a commoner, but is rich enough that she hires a cook and maid, for her modest but comfortable home in the Quartier Marchand. Her husband, a merchant of formerly modest means, died when her son was a child. When she last saw her son, she encouraged him to find a wife and to go to Fifth Day at Sainte-Mère-des-Larmes more often.

She died during childbirth when Larissa was leaving her without a good influence as she grew up.

Quote

NPC Location: Dementlieu - Quarter Savant
Occupation: Student
Description of the NPC (less than 100 words): Henry is a sheltered child. Robbed of his mother and much of his fathers time he has mostly been raised by the young Larissa, which she resented greatly. He remains largely out of sight and out of mind, barring the occasional visit from his sister, where she lectures the incomprehending child on the value of business.

NPC Location: A small hamlet in the Wachter lands

Ginevra Trentavasi

Jacobo Trentavasi (45 y/o)
Father
Vor Ziyden, Borca
Ex-militia, Woodsman
An silent man, fond of contemplation and secrets. It is said that once he was a militiaman, as it is his bloodline's tradition stretching as far back as the Falkovnia's first incursions in Borcan soil; but he never speaks of that time. What he does show is his love for black powder, especially his musket, which he takes great pleasure in caring for. He has no great ambitions beyond living a pleasurable pastoral life. He also cares for a truffle hog named Bruno which he uses to find floral reagents for his wife's business.

Colleta da Desiderato (48 y/o)
Mother
Vor Ziyden, Borca
Accountant, Apothecary
A calculating and cold person, even to the extent of not displaying affection for her children. Her two greatest friends are objects: her abacus, and the tools she uses to man the cauldron. Mentored by her mother Madelena at a young age, she's spearheaded the growth of the family's coffers, attempting to escape the life of a typical wretched Borcan peasant. Her greatest ambition is to become a stapan through acquiring the leases of the land her home sits on, plus the lands around it.

Madelena Dente (73 y/o)
Grandmother
Vor Ziyden, Borca
Apothecary
A scraggy old woman and an expert at the cauldron. She's a living encyclopedia on roots, leaves, fungus, and others. She spent her youth working as a midwife, which led to learning the apothecaries' trade: turning toxins into contraceptives and other medicines. She's a severe teacher and a devout Ezrite, claiming her father aided in the construction of the Great Cathedral. The man was certainly a mason, but whether Madelena's pious boasts are true remains unclear.

Lisabetta Trentavasi (19 y/o)
Younger sister
Lechberg, Borca
Actress
A willful and charismatic young woman. She never enjoyed the trade of herbology, nor Madelena's strict teachings. Because of this, she ran away with a lover to a more urban town where she could learn to be an actress. For a year, nobody in the family except Antonolo knew where she was; she keeps him as a confidant, while her relationship with her parents and grandmother remains strained to this day.

Antonolo Trentavasi (28 y/o)
Older brother
Lechberg or Levkarest, Borca
Mercenary
An enormous, heartless man with a keen sense for border conflicts. He goes wherever he senses his pockets will grow fuller, whether it be the northern lowlands to tax Falkovnian merchants, or south to track Invidian foes. When he rarely visits his family, it's to raid the pantry and heft a sack of gold pieces at the table; a habit which ensures Lisabetta's education despite the ups and downs of Colleta's business.

Klara Leitenberger

Quote
NPC Name: Eckehard and Veronica Leitenberger
Relation to PC: Father and Mother
NPC Location: Port-a-Lucine Falkovnian Ghetto
Describe the NPC:
Eckehard and his wife Veronica are refugees from Falkovnia. Born in Falkovnia, the two were set for a life of misery, agony and suffering. They took a great risk running from Drakov and escaping to Dementlieu. They are grateful for their life in Dementlieu, regarding it as a much better life than in Falkovnia. They are hardworking people, hoping to build a better life in port-a-Lucine; they have little love for their homeland regarding it just as a place of misery. They are grateful that unlike either of them that their children, who were born in Dementlieu don't have to wear the infamous brand.

They love their daughter very much, however they don't like that Klara wants to be a famous stage magician and disapprove of it. They want her to have a good respectable job like a laundress or working in the guildhall. They want her to have a respectable job that can help feed their family and that being a stage magician is just wasting what little money she does earn.

NPC Name: Hensel Leitenberger
Relation to PC: Older Brother
NPC Location: Port-a-Lucine Falkovnian Ghetto
Describe the NPC:
Brash, hot headed, and strong. Hansel is the eldest brother. Of the Leitenberger children, he is the most tempestuous, often getting into scraps with others in the neighborhood and others that come into the neighborhood    but he is also one to jump to the defense of his relatives when they are in danger.  Hansel like most of the Leitenbergers works doing typical poor jobs at the guildhalls

NPC Name: Greta Leitenberger
Relation to PC: Sister
NPC Location: Port-a-Lucine Falkovnian Ghetto
Describe the NPC:
A quiet bookish girl. She has always liked reading whatever books she could get. She hopes to one day be a teacher or even study at the university. Studying at the University is a pipe dream for the Leitenbergers, to even think of being that rich is something they know is outside of their possibility. So Greta takes solace in her few books she has and helping the Halans out when she has some free time from work.

House Épineux of Chateaufaux
Régine & Rosalie Épineux

Immediate Family
The Main Line

Quote
NPC Name: Clotaire Épineux
Relation to PC: Grandfather (70)
NPC Location: Maison Épineux; Chateaufaux, Dementlieu
Occupation: Medical Physician
A rather tall man of greying hair and severe visage, the Baronet Épineux seems to take immense pride in the work of both himself and his household. He is a decidedly austere creature, his high expectations displayed in a strictness like no other. Those of his household are frightened of even the notion of failing him. He is not one to smile, only rarely caught twisting his lips into a grim expression of self-centred pride. He speaks firmly, his voice booming in a way that ensures it shall cut through even the loudest of conversations, and carry throughout any building.
✦ Clotaire is prone to outbursts of anger and dismay. He does not take disappointment or failure well, and will berate those who hold differing views to him. He is obsessed with his lineage.

Quote
NPC Name: Faustine Épineux, née Chaufourier
Relation to PC: Grandmother (62)
NPC Location: Maison Épineux; Chateaufaux, Dementlieu
Occupation: Accoucheuse, non-practicing
The matriarch of the Épineux household is nothing if not an extension of her husband. She shares in his pride, his disappointment, and his unforgiving, unyielding expectations. Nonetheless, where Clotaire demands attention in his conversations, Faustine is quiet and precise with every piece of her wording; speaking only when she finds it necessary. She believes herself an erudite, and thus her words are often laced with painful pity, as if she looks down on those around her. She wears her dark hair high, often in an archaic coiffure; sometimes powdered, sometimes not.
✦ Faustine’s ability to empathize seems incredibly off, stifled by the loss of many, many children. Much like her husband, she is terribly obsessed with her children carrying the bloodline.

Quote
NPC Name: Achille Épineux
Relation to PC: Father (43)
NPC Location: Port-à-Lucine, Dementlieu
Occupation: Medical Physician
The Épineux heir is a decidedly serious man. He stands tall and strong much alike his father, yet often lacks the severity in his expressions; he is a man softened around the edges. A medical doctor - even if one not often practicing - he dresses in smart, fashionable clothes often favouring darker teals, blacks, and creams. While loathe to display his personal sensitivities whilst lucid, the man is known to show his appreciation of his wife. For a marriage arranged, the pair seem to oddly enjoy one another’s company. It is almost as if they truly care for one another.
✦ Rumors flow about the heir’s less-than-admirable grasp on his sanity. He is prone to episodes involving intense astrological delusions and paranoia, during which his wife is his only solace.

Quote
NPC Name: Gervaise Épineux, née Benneteau
Relation to PC: Mother (39)
NPC Location: Port-à-Lucine, Dementlieu
Occupation: Alienist, non-practicing
A smart, hands-on doctoresse, Gervaise is a woman who makes do with what she has. She is overbearingly strict to the point of acting cold, dedicated to ensuring her daughters are focused on academia: not wishing for them to follow in their uncle's disappointment. Only her daughters, that is, as any sickly son born of her womb is coddled with overt favouritism and able to do as he pleases. She is the bearer of an encroaching difference, a softness that is a welcome change from the typical Épineux severity; a lively, spirited face marred by exhaustion, passed on through her children. Gervaise is the younger sister of Isabeau, as noted by their nearly identical resemblance.
✦ Nicknamed ‘the Moon’ by her ailing husband, Gervaise contrastingly seems to have a solid hold on her mind. She abandoned her alienist profession to care for both husband and son.

Quote
NPC Name: Clotaire Épineux II
Relation to PC: Brother, Younger (10)
NPC Location: Port-à-Lucine, Dementlieu
Not much is to be said about the beloved Épineux son, most likely due to a lack of public appearances. He is most often cradled by his mother’s side; the product of parental coddling, he is a slight boy of barely ten years. His mother dresses him in the best suits the modiste may offer, causing him to appear a smart little man despite his frailty. Clotaire is a sweet thing despite his spoiled life, quiet, kind and shy. The 'thing he enjoys most in the world' is watching the Port-city's bay, oftentimes begging for his elder sisters to sit with him - and his mother too, of course!
✦ Another victim of dreaded consumption, the poor boy is lucky to have made it this far. He bares plenty of scars from such an ailment; a soft hoarseness to both breathing and speech.

The beloved first child of Achille and Gervaise, born after a cacophony of increasingly troubled pregnancies. His birth was a cause of celebration for the bloodline-obsessed family - all of whom ignored how his birthing almost ended his poor mother. He was well loved; coddled and adored. Nonetheless, the unlucky thing did not make it past his sixth birthday, falling direly ill and passing slowly due to what is only noted as a disease of ‘consumption’. His death was not met with mourning, only succeeding in rekindling the exponential pressure on the heartbroken pair.

Even as a boy Angel was blamed for the death of his mother who had died giving him birth. A wagon broke down and needed to be repaired mid storm, and the mule pulling it would seldom behave being at unease. When they finally reached a doctor it was said that it was not likely Yasmin would survive giving birth, and she would not. With her dying breath she was said to have reached out ward uttering '...angel of Ezra...'. Vicente would name their second and last son 'Angel' as a reminder of what had been taken from him.

Quote
Name: Miguel Valdés
Relation to PC: Older Brother
NPC Location: Deceased
Occupation: (Formerly) Field worker later Soldier
Description of the NPC (less than 100 words): Miguel was the only one who truly stood by his brother. Despite everything, and the rumors that surrounded his brother; he was always there to pick him up, always there to stand up for him when no one else would, and in doing so would become a role model for Angel. When no one would hire Angel for work, Miguel decided to join a mercenary company with Angel so that he would not be alone. The one profession where not too many questions were asked and bodies were appreciated over superstition. When the two got their first skirmish however, things would go horribly as Angel watched his own brother be torn limb from limb by an ogre. Miguel's remains are buried in one of many of Invidia's skirmish grounds in an unmarked grave.

Brenna Wylie

Quote
Name: Armond Wylie
Relation to PC: Father
NPC Location: Deceased - Spring 773
Occupation: Street Busker (Illusionist)
Description of the NPC (less than 100 words): Armond Wylie was a clever old halfling with graying strawberry blond hair. His vibrant green eyes and charming smile were enough to gain the attention of many a passer by. His magic was simple and entertaining, and though he had the ability to swindle many of his customers, he preferred simply to entertain them and bring a smile to their faces. He was a kind and honest man who all to often shied away from conflict. A trait that left his unfortunate daughter often abused by those he loved. In his youth he took a lover outside of marriage and together they bore Brenna. It is something he's never spoken about publicly or among his own family.

Spoiler: show

Quote
Name: Zelda Wylie
Relation to PC: Adoptive Mother
NPC Location: Port-a-Lucine (Quartier Ouvrier, Halfling Grotto)
Occupation: Criminal
Description of the NPC (less than 100 words): Zelda was a cold and unloving mother to the illegitimate daughter born out of her husband's indiscretion. She had long dark brown hair and dark brown eyes to match. Her expression was usually grim and age had shown in her face. Her skin was wrinkled and her voice was coarse. She often chastised the young woman and beat her regularly for her mistakes. Additionally, she was quite vocal of her distaste for Brenna, especially in the earshot of her five biological sons. This created for a very tense home. As a poor halfling in the Ouvrier, Zelda had taken to a life of petty crime. She and her five sons lived the life of pickpockets and grifters. They had no qualms with stealing from neighbors who, like them, had to scrape and claw to make ends meet. It was enough to keep them housed in the tiny flat that was once afforded by the efforts of the late Armond Wylie. As Brenna aged into adulthood, Zelda began to pressure the young woman to find a more wealthy man to bring home in the hopes of "acquiring" some measure of wealth from outside the family.
Spoiler: show

Quote
Name: Katelyn Suillian
Relation to PC: Biological Mother
NPC Location: Port-a-Lucine (location within city unknown)
Occupation: Unknown
Description of the NPC (less than 100 words): A stunning halfling woman of red hair and ocean blue eyes. Katelyn carried a sadness with her, everywhere. She bore but one child, a daughter, whom she knew she could not support alone. And so she gave the girl to the only one she knew who could, the child's father, Armond. She left her at his doorstep, wrapped in a basket with a note, asking the man to care for his daughter and then disappeared from their lives forever. Where she is and what she is doing are a mystery. But one might imagine that she longs to meet her only child again some day, and make up for all those lost years and the regret that came with.

Quote
Name: Cecil Wylie
Relation to PC: Eldest Brother
NPC Location: Port-a-Lucine (Quartier Ouvrier - Halfling Grotto)
Occupation: Criminal
Description of the NPC (less than 100 words): Brown hair, scruffy, dog faced halfling man. He was his mothers son in both appearance and demeanor. He and his brothers work the streets of the Ouvrier taking coin from those just as unfortunate as themselves. The ringleader of their little gang of grifters and thieves, Cecil is always the first to point out Brenna's flaws and failures. He is responsible for more than a few of her many scars.
Spoiler: show

Quote
Name: Philip Wylie
Relation to PC: Second Eldest Brother
NPC Location: Port-a-Lucine (Quartier Ouvrier - Halfling Grotto)
Occupation: Criminal
Description of the NPC (less than 100 words): Thick mutton chops framed a pudgy face. His disheveled dirty blond hair was the lightest of Wylie men, but his hand was the heaviest. He was a bruiser, as far as halflings go. A stout young man with a mean disposition. He was the muscle in the family gang and wasn't afraid to show it. Not surprisingly, he was also responsible for most of Brenna's scars. His short fuse often lead to fits of rage, all of which were directed at his younger sister.

Quote
Name: Jorah Wylie
Relation to PC: Middle Brother
NPC Location: Port-a-Lucine (Quartier Ouvrier - Halfling Grotto)
Occupation: Criminal
Description of the NPC (less than 100 words): Bushy black hair and bushy black eyebrows were the most prominent features of Jorah's face. He was the quinticential middle child. Of all of the Wylie boys, he was perhaps the most gentle handed. Though he shared in the spoils and revelry of the other brothers, he enjoyed it the least of all. A reluctant accomplice to their dastardly dealings, Jorah never had much of a backbone. He just did what he had to to avoid persecution from the rest of his brothers. He had a soft spot for Brenna, one he could never show, but he was a follower and so he too was responsible for at least two scars left on his little sisters body.

Quote
Name: Dirk Wylie
Relation to PC: Second Youngest Brother
NPC Location: Port-a-Lucine (Quartier Ouvrier - Halfling Grotto)
Occupation: Criminal
Description of the NPC (less than 100 words): Prematurely thinning hair was the hallmark of the second youngest of the Wylie men. His brown locks thinning every year where the result of the incredible stress he placed upon himself, and the stress placed upon him by his siblings and mother. He was the sharpest of the men, cunning, clever, and most of all, cruel. It was his machinations that typically netted the brothers their biggest scores. While he was not directly responsible for most of Brenna's scars, he was responsible for the deepest and darkest of them. In particular, he was responsible for her feelings of worthlessness.

Quote
Name: Haymitch Wylie
Relation to PC: Youngest Brother
NPC Location: Port-a-Lucine (Quartier Ouvrier - Halfling Grotto)
Occupation: Criminal
Description of the NPC (less than 100 words): The youngest and wildest of the Wiley boys, Haymitch was a troublemaker. He revelled in drink and substance and the voilence that came with it. A party boy if ever there was one. While Haymitch wasn't particularly good at any aspect of the quintet's devious dealings, he was incredibly adept at creating the distractions that were so needed to pull off whatever scheme his elder brothers had cooked up. His wild streak, drunkeness, and intoxication lead to many a scar on Brenna's tiny little body.

VICTOR VIANU

Quote
Name: Alina Vianu
Relation: Mother
Location: Deceased, 768
Occupation: Seamstress, inn waitress

In life Alina was the light of any festival, the belle of every ball. Framed by her chestnut hair and light eyes, she had about her an endless optimism uncanny for the suffering endemic to Barovian life. She was raised in Krezk and through offering tailoring services to travelers on the Old Svalich met Cosmin Vianu. Slain by an intelligent, undead monster.

Quote
Name: Cosmin Vianu
Relation: Father
Location: Unknown
Occupation: Unknown

Cosmin was described by Alina as a man of few words, yet rife with conscientious action. It is from he Victor has inherited dark hair and hazel eyes; Cosmin claimed no homeland other than Barovia, his exact place of origin either abandoned or destroyed. Cosmin disappeared early in Victor's life, though his mother always said that he had no choice and that he would return. Assumed to have been a warrior of some station based on heirlooms left to Victor.

Quote
Name: Paul Vianu
Relation: Uncle
Location: Krezk
Occupation: Trader

Paul is a severe looking middle-aged man, frank and miserly. Allowed Alina and Victor to live in his home at Krezk when Cosmin vanished, making no effort to hide a blatant desire for her even if she insisted that Cosmin could not be dead. Expelled them both when a young Victor intervened against him during an abuse on his mother.

Quote
Name: Marcela Vianu
Relation: Aunt
Location: Nasaud
Occupation: Singer-performer

Marcela is a catching woman whose husband died of gout and their three children never having made it beyond infancy. She put her grief over the loss of her family into her work as a songstress, having earned invitations to perform largely around Vallaki including the Blue Water. Accepted Victor and Alina into her permanent residence at Nasaud north of the Lake Zarovich from Krezk. There she and Alina became close confidantes - her murder compounded with all else has left her despairing outside her work at last, work she performs today from obligation than for any passion.

Oliver Blumfeld of Mordent

Quote
Name: Francis Blumfeld
Relation: Ancestor / Spirit Patron
Location: Deceased, buried in Arden Bay, Mordent
Occupation: Scourge of Spectors

Francis lived and died over 300 years ago before the proliferation of the Ezrite faith in Mordent.  The problems with ghosts were just as bad back then and this sorcerer who settled in Arden Bay was up to the task.  His home, Saltview Manor, overlooked the Sea of Sorrows and had potent wards against incorporeal undead.  It was often opened as a refuge for those dealing with such terrible creatures to rest and prepare themselves for battles to come.

He lingered in the Other Side after dying, tethered both by the bloodline he started and Saltview Manor itself.  The family transitioned from arcane sorcery to their own secluded flavor of divine shamanism.

Much has changed over the passing centuries.

The Blumfelds are now generally spit on by the superstitious as terrible witches, and the Pure Heart Ezrites now do what Francis Blumfeld did -- for more people.  Quite a few recent Blumfelds who would have made excellent Shamans turned on their archaic ways and embraced Ezra instead.

Saltview Manor transitioned hands many times through passing generations and has existed primarily as an inn for over a century.  Warded as it was against the undead, the Manor was vulnerable to mundane attackers and was recently lost to arson.  Those Shamans who invoke Grandfather Francis carry a salvaged piece of the building and use it as an object of power in castings.

Only the living are listed here -- the dead are too many.  Their home is lost and so they wander

Quote
Name: Grace Blumfeld
Relation: Aunt
Location: Traveling the Core
Occupation: Shaman

Name: Alfred Blumfeld
Relation: Cousin
Location: Traveling the Core (under Grace's care)
Occupation: Shaman Apprentice

Oliver's Aunt, who was his mentor and who now mentors his young cousin, travels the Core and solves what problems she can without exposing herself as anything more than a healer.  Alfred, however, is more bold.

Quote
Name: Henry Blumfeld
Relation: Cousin
Location: Traveling the Core
Occupation: Anchorite of Her Second Revalation

Henry travels on his own, openly solving whatever problems he can as an Ezrite.  He is, like the rest of his family, specialized in dealing with incorporeal threats.  He loves the rest of his family, and grieves that they are so lost in backwards blasphemies.  He hopes to peacefully convert them to the Ezrite faith.

'House' Asmussen
"Kinship Bound; Our Strength, Our Own Accord"

Jørgen Asmussen

THE LEGEND OF HOUSE ASMUSSEN (As the family tells it...)
Quote
Once, the name Asmussen echoed through all the wealthy halls of Nova Vaasa like a hymn of prestige and power. Legends whispered of their founding patriarch, Lord Søren Asmussen, a warrior renowned for his valor in ancient battles that shaped the domain's destiny. With each passing generation, the Asmussens accrued wealth, land, and influence, becoming esteemed patrons of the arts, and revered for their mercantile intelligence.

However, the winds of fate can be capricious, and the family's downfall was as swift as it was unexpected. A series of ill-advised investments and political missteps eroded the Asmussens' wealth. Their coffers drained, their estates mortgaged, they struggled to maintain the façade of their former grandeur.

The final blow came when the Asmussens faced a formidable adversary in the form of House Mølgaard, a rival noble family with ambitions that rivaled the Asmussens' once unassailable position in Nova Vaasa.

Countess Margit Mølgaard, a cunning and ambitious matriarch, harbored a simmering resentment toward the Asmussens. She saw in their glory a shadow that eclipsed her family's aspirations for power and influence. Countess Margit devised a calculated scheme to undermine the Asmussens, weaving a web of deceit and manipulation that ensnared the last known lord of House Asmussen: Lord Harald Asmussen.

Under the guise of amiable diplomacy and cooperation, Margit orchestrated a series of false investments, urging Lord Harald to venture into endeavors that seemed lucrative but were, in truth, nothing more than elaborate traps. As the Asmussens poured their wealth into these ventures, believing they became fearful of forging new alliances and believed securing future prosperity was only possible by keeping family money within the family.

At the pinnacle of their financial commitments, Countess Margit orchestrated a meticulously fabricated expose, unveiling supposed evidence of Lord Harald's involvement in fraudulent activities. It was a masterstroke of manipulation, turning the noble houses and the public against the Asmussens in an instant.

The scandal that ensued tarnished the Asmussens' name irreparably. Accusations of treachery and deceit clung to them like a shadow, and the once proud House Asmussen found themselves isolated and ostracized by their peers.

Many generations have passed since House Asmussen's glory and those Asmussen's are now under the fealty of Count Valdemar Mølgaard working as one of the Count's many farmers. Pig Farmers they may be, but they hold a glorious legacy that will never truly die.

~The Asmussen Family~

Quote
NPC Name:  Thorbjørn 'Pappy' Asmussen
Relation to PC: Grand Father
NPC Location  The Asmussen Farm; Arbora Nova Vaasa
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words):  Thorbjørn or 'Pappy' has he prefers to be called is a toothless old man who has been living on the farm ever since he was small. The old mans life began here and it would probably end here. Pappy is a cranky old man but he is very protective of his family. After his wife had died he had become very ill and had taken to sitting in his chair for the rest of his life. Since then his body has atrophied and he very rarely leaves his rocking chair. The Asmussen's regretably admit that Asmussen life spans are not generous but Pappy is a unique case it would seem as he has lived a very long time. Pappy hold the 'Legend of House Asmussen' in a very high regard and oftn repeats the tale, he is hoping to one day be able to pass on this tale to his great grand children.

Quote
NPC Name:  Nadja 'Granny' Asmussen
Relation to PC: Grand Mother (Deceased)
NPC Location  The Asmussen Farm; Arbora Nova Vaasa - Buried in the family grave yard
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words):  Granny Asmussen was considered a kind and sweet old lady known for her culinary skills. A masterful sausage crafter; her kielbasa was one of the best that could be found in the smaller villages surrounding Arbora. Granny is talked about a lot among the current Asmussen family as she was said to be one of the kindest and sweetest old ladies around.

NPC Name:  Asger Asmussen
Relation to PC: Father
NPC Location  The Asmussen Farm; Arbora Nova Vaasa
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words):  Asger is the current patriarch of the Asmussen family who is knowledgeable in all things swine. Despite looks he is a master of his trade and knows well how to keep pigs: caring, cleaning, feeding, and of course killing and preparing for market. Asger a man who has seen a lot over the years and has taken to some strange quirks. Out of all the Asmussens, Asger is the most religious constantly trying to recite stories, psalms, and liturgy from Lawgiver books; while unfortunately failing or completely making them up to fit his own needs. Asger is quite the alcoholic but despite this he is able to perform his job even while drunk. Lastly, and strangest of all Asger likes to keep and collect his own urine in jars. The jars are kept in a make shift shed where he ages them and keeps track of them based on color. Asger seems to believe darker color samples produce a stronger fertilizer making a  better crop yield and so he saves certain jars for certain times.

Quote
NPC Name:  Elna Asmussen
Relation to PC: Mother
NPC Location  The Asmussen Farm; Arbora Nova Vaasa
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words):  Elna is Asger's wife and she has very big shoes to fill after the death of 'Granny'. Like an ancient art, sausage making was past down to Elna from Granny Asmussen herself. Elna dreams of having her sausage become core renown and coveted by all though she exists in the shadow of her mothers great legacy as a true expert in the sausage craft. A supportive and helpful woman overall, while it was mentioned she had very big shoes to fill, she also indeed had very big shoes. Elna's unusually large feet have unfortunately caused her to become very clumsy sometimes even tripping over herself. Years of falling and getting back up have made her a tough woman and as the current matriarch of the Asmussen household she commands a lot of respect.

Quote
NPC Name:  Lars 'Birdie' Asmussen
Relation to PC: Uncle
NPC Location  The Asmussen Farm; Arbora Nova Vaasa
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words):  Lars is the second eldest uncle, weathered by the elements with a long, thick, and messy beard. A perpetual squint from years spent in the outdoors. Lars is the cunning strategist of the family, always concocting dubious plans to get ahead in their secluded world. He's fiercely protective of the family, harboring deep mistrust toward outsiders. Lars' nickname 'Birdie' comes from his unusual choice of pets. It is said one day while sleeping underneath a tree after corralling the hogs he woke up to find a robins egg in his beard. It is believed a robin mistook his beard as a nest. Lars originally thought to eat the egg but instead had decided to incubate it with his beard during the cold nights. The egg miraculously did hatch giving Lars his pet robin he calls 'Rolf'. Rolf is often seen sitting in Lars' dirty beard kept so intentionally so Rolf can sit in it comfortably.

Quote
NPC Name:  Inge Asmussen
Relation to PC: Aunt
NPC Location  The Asmussen Farm; Arbora Nova Vaasa
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words):  Lars' wife and aunt to Jørgen, radiates an aura of vibrant energy that brightens the family's secluded dwelling. Her attire is a canvas of mismatched colors, reflecting her eccentric spirit. Inge is a treasure trove of peculiar advice and homegrown remedies, each suggestion as quirky as it is surprisingly effective. The family 'botanist'l; Inge has a knack and interest for herbal remedies and teas. Although barely literate she is writing her very own book on medicine and teas. Inge has absolutely no knowledge of medicine and her remedies only rarely work but she does know how to make a good cup of tea.

Quote
NPC Name:  Poul Asmussen
Relation to PC: Uncle
NPC Location  The Asmussen Farm; Arbora Nova Vaasa
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words):  Poul, the youngest uncle, sports a perpetually unruly mop of hair that seems to defy gravity, and his gap-toothed grin suggests mischief lurking within. His mind is an amalgamation of folklore and imaginative ideas. Poul's innocent curiosity has more often than not gotten him into trouble. Usually preferring to solve problems with elaborate and nonsensical plans rather than doing something more practical and intelligent. As a result he has became the families 'engineer' and is often tasked with making repairs to the farm and farm equipment. Because of this though, things end up becoming more expensive than more reasonable repairs would actually cost.

NPC Name:  Linette 'Dolly' Asmussen
Relation to PC: Aunt
NPC Location  The Asmussen Farm; Arbora Nova Vaasa
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words):  Linette is a woman of big dreams and aspirations. Linette is the wife of Poul Asmussen. Linette is the most beautiful of all the Asmussen women which unfortunately isn't saying a lot as the Asmussens are not known for their striking beauty but rather the opposite. Linette prefers to go by her 'stage name' Dolly and dreams of one day leaving the farm to become a ballerina. Of course, these dreams are always dashed by her husband Poul who reminds her firmly that she has to help out on the farm. Despite her big dreams of the world outside of the farm; the family does appreciate her greatly for she has a great talent when it comes to bartering. The milk monger from the cattle farm comes by every so often and Linette insists on privately bartering with the merchant named Otto Kirkegaard. The two barter quite frequently together for a lengthy amount of time. Poul is not yet concerned.
