Julia Weisz

Quote
Name: Lea Weisz
Relation to PC: Mother
NPC Location: Teufeldorf
Occupation: Seamstress
Description of the NPC (less than 100 words): Julia knows very little of her mother aside from the fact that she vehemently supports Ardonk Szerieza and the rebellion. Though she never did take up arms, she has supported through other means, taking in strangers to her home and hiding them, sending whatever supplies and provisions she could spare to Castle Hunadora, and other such practices. Whenever the subject of Julia's birth was broached, her mother would find some excuse to clam up. After many attempts, Julia gave up asking. As her mother has kept to their Gundarakite traditions and customs, Julia is left to assume that she is the product of either rape, or some trickery by the foul vistani man who is her father. The seedy truth is that her mother willingly and knowingly bed the vistani man whom she had become infatuated with in her youth. A secret she has done well to bury. A shame upon herself and her people.

Quote
Name: Pal Sitari
Relation to PC: Father
NPC Location: Wandering the Mists
Occupation: Horse Handler
Description of the NPC (less than 100 words): Pal Sitari is a vistani of the Equaar tribe. His deep connection with animals, particularly horses, has lead him to become one of his tribes horse handlers. While travelling through Barovia, he met Julia's mother, a very young woman at the time. He seduced her easily, as she was barely more than a girl, and the pair laid together on his last night in Teufeldorf. She bore him a daughter that he would never know. It is likely he still does not know as he wanders the mists with his tribe.

Quote
Name: Anton Czapek
Relation to PC: Mentor
NPC Location: Teufeldorf (Deceased)
Occupation: Traveler and adventurer (Retired)
Description of the NPC (less than 100 words): A whithered old man who spent many years travelling and adventuring. He was an uncommon man among the Gundarakite people. In his youth he worked farms and kept to the traditions of his people. Around the age of 30, he struck out to explore the land and it's people. In his travels, he learned of the Divinity of Mankind which he studied for some time. Around the age of 60, he returned home to find his country had been taken over by the forces fo Barovia and Invidia. Having little fight left in him, he kept to a quiet life of solitude within the city of Teufeldorf. The neighbors and children of the area regarded him as strange and reclusive. He lived a simple life adhering to the teachings he had learned abroad and admiring the many artifacts he had collected over the years. One day, a wild young woman stole into his home and tried to make off with one of those artifacts, a scroll case that was intricately adorned with gold and silver. He caught her, raised the guard, and upon hearing that she would lose a hand, took her in to begin teaching her a better way of living. He worked with Julia daily until the time of his passing from natural causes around the age of 80. While he could not impart all of his wisdom upon her, she regards him very highly to this day.

After that he worked in the same workhouse as his wife and wallowed in self-pity and resentment. Karine was headstrong though, and just became sly in her mixing with ne'er do wells. She ended up running off in 778, allegedly fleeing to Chateaufaux with her then boyfriend who was wanted by the Gendarmerie over some muggings. The first and last Renée heard of this was her farewell note. Gautier searched for Karine when he was staying in Chateaufaux this year, but found no sign of her.

He is like a little brother to Gautier and somewhat hero worships him, reading issues of La Cause and considering himself a devout revolutionary. His mother keeps a tight rein on him, however, and he remains in his job at the workhouse, although his health does not allow him to work so many shifts. Although Thibault did not discourage Gautier's exploration of revolutionary thought, he did keep him out of activism for fear of what would befall him. Alas, Thibault was messily killed when Hazlani terrorists blew up the Publique.

She contracted a wasting sickness and passed at home.

Quote
NPC Name: Simon Dalakis
Relation to PC:  Father

The Dalakis family is one of Barovian traders. Simon no longer travels and maintains the family business within Immol. Now that he is aging, he misses the livelihood of his home and hopes one of his sons will settle in to continue the family business and bring along a host of grandchildren.

A former trader, he found faith in the Lawgiver. He now serves as a Kunduktør and is bound by an oath of silence. He is a stern man, devout in his faith after the earlier unfaithfulness of his wife who had absconded with her lover some several years prior. He raised Rahela after the passing of her mother where Simon could not afford to take time from the business to tend to the youngest child.

A man in his early forties, he oversees the mercantile endeavors of the Dalakis family. He engages in the trade of textiles from Borca to Hazlan, often away several months out of the year. He prefers to winter in Krezk with his family when the passes become impassable, finding the town to be far more entertaining than Immol. He enjoys the thrill of a good negotiation.

Quote from: Miscellaneous
There are two other brothers older than Rahela, Marin and Matei. They assist with the family business though the brothers are wont to complain about the oppressive taxes of the Count while visiting the likes of Levkarest. Each of the brothers has a family and children of their own, a generous number as Barovian families are known to have. The brothers are ages 36, 38, and 41 respectively. There is a wide range of expanded family members but for the most part, they do not have much contact with Rahela after she became an Amanar.

Edvin "Vindhare" Czernin (47 y/o)
Father
Nova Vaasa, Bergovitsa, Avener's District
Brown skinned man with intense dark eyes, a mane of salt-and-pepper hair with a long handlebar moustache. Wields a scimitar with great fluidity and doesn't waste time drawing it when provoked, styling himself as a duelist. Has lots of swagger. Arrogant and extravagant, hedonistic, lover of drink and gold. Prone to unbelievable boasts, such as "having ridden from one corner of Core to the next in one night." Makes a living from participating in illegal horse races at night. Proud owner of a Wind-Mane horse named Lightning which he takes great care of, though some suspect he stole from a nobleman. At times has to avoid both the law and the church, so he takes jobs out in the steppes as a caravan guard where he practices horseback archery. Similarly, he has worked as a pioneer.

Vivian Aggersdatter (58 y/o)
Step-mother
Nova Vaasa, Bergovitsa, Traveler's Market
Madam of a small brothel which had terribly burnt some years back, and is now in reconstruction. Bard and poetess by vocation. She has Kartakan blood, with bright blonde hair, magnetic blue eyes and an inviting voice. Plays music to entertain and lure patrons. Her most prized possession is a beautiful lute with carved wolf designs passed down through the generations. Acts as both a mentor and a guardian. She teaches her girls how to brew herbal anticonceptives and other medicines; also secretely teaches occult magic to those who show prowess, it's rumored she casts terrible hexes on cheap and abusive patrons, some of which go missing.

Eva (40-ish y/o)
Mother
Nova Vaasa, Unknown
An enigmatic figure, little is known of her. Some say she was Vivian's sister or cousin, or just some blonde girl employed by her. Said to have vanished during one fateful Night of Dark Deeds some twenty odd years ago.

DAMIAN DRAGAN

Quote

Hedvin Dragan
Father
Krezk

A master cooper plying wares within the walled city of Krezk. Business has lapsed considerably in the intervening years due to barrels associated with the Dragan coopery being discovered among the affects of Gundarakite rebels. Though Hedvin has vehemently denied any willful involvement with rebels - a claim seemingly confirmed by Krezk authorities - pervasive rumors to the contrary has left the establishment bereft from all but its most loyal patronage. Damian had been the apprentice of his father, before an incident with one of these tainted barrels left him scarred from the collar down and into the flock of the Morninglord.

Marcalla Dragan
Mother
Krezk

A seamstress originally from Levkarest. Worships Hala in private, as she does not wish for the ignorant ire of Barovians. Impressed a respect for benevolent magic in Damian from a young age, although he does not understand his mother to be a witch.

Stanik Dragan
Uncle
Sanctuary of the First Light, Krezk

A follower of the Morninglord who helped Damian plead for his innocence, bargaining with the Krezk Watch to allow him to accept his nephew into the Sanctuary of the First Light. Has taught Luktar to Damian to better provide services for the Morninglord's majority Gundarakite flock. Sympathizes with the Gundarakite cause, though believes there cannot be independence for Gundarak without bloody retribution.

The Reményi-Draskovitch Family

Player Characters

Zádor Reményi (Colonic)
György Reményi (HouseofLament)
Lazlo Reményi (Adni)
Renicza Reményi (Limine)
Anasztázia Draskovitch (Vommymommy)

Alive

Quote
NPC Name: Irena Herczeg
Relation to PC: Sister of the deceased Iliya, Aunt to György, Lazlo, and Renicza.
NPC Location: Zeidenburg
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Twin sister to Iliya, Irena still lives at the Morninglord Temple where the two of them were raised. She is a devout Morninglordian priestess, no longer a traveling zealot. The three siblings traveled to meet her when Renicza came of age, and she is a further source of inspiration and support for Lazlo and Renicza’s faith.

Dead

Quote
NPC Name: Kimor Reményi
Relation to PC: Father to György, Lazlo, and Renicza. Brother to Zádor. Uncle to Anastasia.
NPC Location: Deceased
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Despite being raised in a quiet, sad home, Kimor had a great capacity for passion. Filled with energy from youth, he sought out anything he could to make this life better. To grow in power. To protect the people he loved. It’s unclear when, where, or how, but he became not only brilliant, but empowered by some kind of strange magicks. He kept them secret, and stayed in their remote village of the woods. But little things drew attention - the way he bought books from every passerby, the air around their house. He was discovered by Barovians, somehow, and burned alive for his “crimes.”

Quote
NPC Name: Iliya nee Herczeg Reményi
Relation to PC: Mother to György, Lazlo, and Renicza.
NPC Location: Deceased
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Iliya was raised, along with her twin, Irena, in an orphanage connected to the Morninglord Temple in Zeidenburg. Deeply devout as much as her twin sister, the two traveled “Old Gundarak” trying to spread the message of love, salvation, and hope. But having grown up just the two of them, Iliya longed family, to settle down, and find actual love in the world, not just in her faith. She met Kimor while traveling and chose to stay in his remote home after a whirlwind romance, though she was sad her sister wouldn’t stay. They loved each other deeply, and Iliya was a patient, kind, and caring mother. So loving, she tried to reason with the Barovian men who came to lynch her husband, and was burned along with him for trying.

Quote
NPC Name: Jolan nee ? Reményi
Relation to PC: Wife of Zádor
NPC Location: Deceased
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Jolan was a small lean woman in her middling years. She was a gentler sort, although had an air of sadness about her due to the loss of her children. She was said to bring out the best in Zádor.

Quote
NPC Name: Artur Reményi
Relation to PC: Grandfather of György, Lazlo, Renicza, and Anastasia. Father of Zádor.
NPC Location: Deceased
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Artur was a soldier in the war of annexation. He managed to survive by deserting before the end of the war, back to the plot of land his parents lived on before it all began, in a remote part of Southeastern Barovia. His wife, Kattya, remained there during the war with their newborn children, and they were relieved to see him return. Unfortunately, he came back defeated, bitter, and distant, and did not participate in the raising of the children. He worked as a lumberjack until dying of “old age” in his late forties.

Quote
NPC Name: Kattya nee Nagy Reményi
Relation to PC: Grandmother of György, Lazlo, Renicza, and Anastasia. Mother of Zádor.
NPC Location: Deceased
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Kattya was once a loving mother, but after the return of Artur after the war she became difficult to deal with, prone to bouts of anger, and often a drunk. She made sure her children had what they needed to survive, but provided little oversight or guidance, and with their father distant, they were often left to their own devices in their remote village. She died shortly after Artur passed away, of disease.

Quote
NPC Name: Hortenzia nee Reményi Draskovitch
Relation to PC: Mother to Anastasia, Sister to Zádor, Aunt to György, Lazlo, and Renicza.
NPC Location: Deceased
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): N.A.

Quote
NPC Name: Baltasar Draskovitch
Relation to PC: Father to Anastasia
NPC Location: Deceased
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): N.A.

Quote
NPC Name: Stefano Draskovitch
Relation to PC: Anastasia’s older brother.
NPC Location: Deceased
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): First born son. Oldest child. Stern, controlling. Stressed, always. Little time for games or fun. Protected his family and worked hard to keep them alive alongside his parents. Respected them for the blood in their veins, cared for little else. Managed the family farm with an iron fist. Literate. Death by fire.

Quote
NPC Name: Elfric Draskovitch
Relation to PC: Anastasia’s nephew.
NPC Location: Deceased
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Son of Stefano and Orzebet, twin to Boriska. Loud and mischievous. Liked building and farm work. Hated winter. Worked alongside his father when he could. Took the parental deaths very hard. Became a shell of himself, but slowly came back as he worked alongside Istvan.   Death by illness and disease.

Quote
NPC Name: Boriska Draskovitch
Relation to PC: Anastasia’s niece.
NPC Location: Deceased
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Daughter of Stefano and Orzebet. Twin to Elfric. Curious and outgoing. Never had a strong appetite. Disliked dogs and wolves, large animals in general. Made cheese and bread alongside Anastasia. Death by illness and disease.

Quote
NPC Name: Orzebet Draskovitch
Relation to PC: Anastasia’s aunt by marriage.
NPC Location: Deceased
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Wife to Stefano. Mother of Elfric and Boriska. Mostly worked with Vilhelmina in tailoring and weaving. Didn't get along with Baltasar Draskovitch. Didn't particularly get on with Stefano, either. Caring mother. Tried not to be so strict with the children. Death by fire.

Quote
NPC Name: Miklos Draskovitch
Relation to PC: Anastasia’s older brother.
NPC Location: Deceased
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Second born son. Second oldest child. Controlling, sloppy, lazy. Delegates work to everyone but himself. Manages the family finances and farm.   Never wanted to inherit the farm after Stefanos passing. A lot of trade secrets were lost with him, as Miklos never bothered to keep up with it all. Responsible for Stefano's death, including Stefano's wife. Gross negligence - left a loaded wagon in front of the barn doors. Threw away a lit cigar and engulfed the barn in flames. Death by liver failure.

Quote
NPC Name: Paszkal Draskovitch
Relation to PC: Anastasia’s nephew.
NPC Location: Deceased
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Non-biological son of Miklos. Believed to be biological.   Pain in the ass. Little respect for anyone, including his father. Also quite lazy - usually did half of a job and left it at that. Stole money from the family when he grew older. Resented Istvan for getting the farm over him, and selling it. Watched Istvan drown, did nothing to help. Murdered.

Quote
NPC Name: Vilhelmina Draskovitch
Relation to PC: Anastasia’s older sister.
NPC Location: Deceased
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): First born daughter. Third oldest child. Strict, tired, no sense of humour. Mostly raised Anastasia alongside their mother. Family tailor, weaver. Took in Stefano's orphaned children, alongside Miklos' son.   Saw to the care of their parents after the farm was handed over to Stefano. Death by illness and disease.

Quote
NPC Name: Istvan Draskovitch
Relation to PC: Anastasia’s younger brother.
NPC Location: Deceased
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Third born son. The youngest and final child. Fisherman. Sold the farm and other family assets after refusing to take it on when Miklos died.  Moved the (then surviving) family members to a smaller home by Lake Zarovich. Worked with the fishing lodge. Strong and caring. Nervous, generally. Clearly was not happy with the situation at hand, yet powered on. Did his best. Death by crushing and drowning (fishing barrels crushed him, then the boat toppled over.)

Please note: This is not an exhaustive list of the family of du Claire.  I have intentionally left it open ended so that other players whom wish to participate in the Noble House may do so at a later time.  This is the list of the family that is definitively NPCs, for a variety of reasons.

(NPC) Family of Nicole du Claire

Quote
NPC Name: Claude du Claire

Relation to PC: Father
NPC Location: Du Claire estate, in the countryside near Pont-a-Museau, Richemulot
Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): The current patron of House du Claire, Claude is a beleaguered man.  Losing his brother at an early age - rumour was they were taken by wererats, but the truth is much darker* - he retreated to an estate in the countryside to raise his current family.  He was a kind but withdrawn man, but there was constant friction between him and the family, especially a young Nicole when her mother passed away giving birth to Hortense.  This culminated in Nicole leaving the household with Hortense when he reached 21, and taking their own retainers with them.  This put Claude into a deep melancholy, and he regrets the loss of his younger children to such argument.

He would occasionally keep in touch with Nicole by letter, often begging her to return to their native Richemulot.

Quote
NPC Name: Ellenore du Claire

Relation to PC: Mother
NPC Location: Deceased - buried in the cathedral of Pont-a-Museau's graveyard, Richemulot.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): An aloof and disciplined woman, Ellenore was a well-respected middle-classwoman and formerly a captain in the military, prior to retiring to raise her family.  She was a shrewd tactician and shrewder still with intrigue, and was a lot of what kept the current house together.  When she passed away, it was a significant blow to the present family, especially Nicole and Jenna, both of whom looked up to her.  She was known as a charitible woman, often sponsoring promising outlanders as retainers to the family.  A firm believer in the Carte Blanche, something she hoped to instill on her children and family.

Quote
NPC Name: Jenna du Claire

Relation to PC: Elder Sister
Location: Du Claire estate in the countryside of Pont-a-Museau, Richemulot

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Known as a kind and magnimous woman, the family's current heiress, Jenna du Claire, is probably the most martial of the current generation.  An ordained Anchorite of Her Second Revelation, she has been known to protect the downtrodden and innocent of the estate and city, and has several outlander retainers also of the faith.  Her and Nicole were quite close, until Nicole's leave, but unlike her father, Jenna margnially supported it; she felt it was best to let the restless ones whom did not have immediate claim to the title make a name for themselves on their own merits.  She often ventures herself, though has not, at present, ever left Richemulot.  She has a reputation for bravery, and being a skilled healer.

Quote
NPC Name: Halani du Claire

Relation to PC: Eldest sister's wife
Location: Du Claire estate in the countryside of Pont-a-Museau, Richemulot

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Jenna's own controversial moment was the marriage to outlander elf Halani, whom obviously would not grant the family's heiress any children.  She is a withdrawn, mousey woman, though often given to want to help those she can, and isn't intimidated by.  Jenna and her are inseperable: where one goes, so does the other.   These anxieties are social though: she is known to be fierce in combat, and protective of her wife.
Currently:
Nicole du Claire - Richemulotoise noble duelist

Also:
Emmanuelle Skyshard - Ezran escapee from Hazlan

Portrait from year 763 of the Barovian Calender

PC: Mikhail von Striganov

Quote
NPC Name: Stefanu von Striganov
Relation to PC: Father
NPC Location: Farmlands of Vallaki

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): The older man in the portrait, a daylaborer from west of Vallaki, having married Marina to inherit the farm from her father, Bogdan. He embodies the typical Barovian worker: toiling in the turnip fields all week, only to spend his wages on frivolity in Vallaki over the weekend. By Monday, he returns to the fields, caught in a never-ending cycle.

He was formerly Stefanu Stefanescu, but was obliged to take his wife's name upon marriage by her father's insistence.

Quote
NPC Name: Marina von Striganov
Relation to PC: Mother
NPC Location: Farmlands of Vallaki

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): A spindly matron of advancing age, she dresses simply and hails from the area around Vallaki. By all accounts unremarkable, her ambitions never strayed far from home. Beneath this modest exterior lies a keen intellect and a studious nature, stifled by the constraints of marriage and societal expectations.

Once a potential scholar, she now leads a life of quiet resignation as a housemaker, haunted by the possibilities she lost.

Quote
NPC Name: Magdalena von Striganov
Relation to PC: Sister
NPC Location: Farmlands of Vallaki

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): A young, flourshing girl who's inherited all the good of her mother. Whilst in the portrait yet young, in the present she's keenly aware what captivity awaits her should sheremain - and would have ran was it not for her devotion to her mother. She holds a degree of resentment towards Mikhail for having left to find his own way.

Quote
NPC Name: Bogdan von Striganov
Relation to PC: Maternal Grandfather
NPC Location: Farmlands of Vallaki

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Old and infirm, this former member of the Vallaki Garda is the unquestionable patriarch of the family. Having spent most of his life in the guard, allowing the family farm to fall into ruin until he found a suitable match for his one surviving daughter. This wretched old man, blinded long ago by a notorious band of outlander-bandits, seems to know only resentment and alcohol as his two friends.

He, and the Striganovs, are known as outsiders, Bogdan's family having moved to the farmlands a mere three generations ago. He stubbornly clings onto their peculiar name, but refuses to speak of from whence the family's origin came.

Quote

Relatives of Private Mira Zovtovich

Quote
Nikolae Zovtovich (Father)
Age: 49
Location: Vallaki
Spoiler: show
A former Garda member, he served loyally until losing his leg on patrol while rescuing a child from a Neuri rat attack. He walks on a wooden prosthetic leg a testament to his time in the Garda. His left arm bears a long scar from his battle with the Neuri rat.

Since then, he has lived a quieter life, offering advice to his neighbors and helping where he can. He is known to visit the citadel weekly to collect his check, and see old comrades. Tall and broad-shouldered despite his injury, with a lean build that speaks of a life spent in physical service. His once-dark hair is streaked with gray, but his full beard remains dark and well-kept. His piercing gray eyes convey both authority and sadness, reflecting the weight of his past. He is especially protective of Mira but shows a reserved disappointment in his sons for not following in his footsteps.

Quote
Adelina Zovtovich, formerly Miklos (Mother)
Age: 49
Location: Vallaki
Spoiler: show
Very petite, standing nearly a head shorter than her husband. She has dark espresso-brown hair, similar to Mira’s. Her warm brown eyes exude kindness, matching the deep warmth in her voice. Despite her small stature, her presence feels substantial and commanding in her own quiet way. Her hands are rough from years of work as a homemaker, yet her smile is tender and comforting. She wears a simple silver necklace gifted by her husband when they were first wed at 15. She shows her own disappointment that Mira did not marry young, properly, and start a family, and believes her sons can do no wrong.

Quote
Nikolae Zovtovich II (Oldest Son)
Age: 34
Location: Vallaki
Spoiler: show
Tall and muscular like his father, with broad shoulders and a powerful build from years of fishing- his chosen vocation rather then the garda. His dark hair is often damp and disheveled. He has sharp gray eyes like his father, often observing the world with a calculating gaze. His hands are large and calloused, marked by small scars from fishing nets and hooks. He wears a tattered cap he’s owned for years. Practical and reserved, sometimes aloof, he is fiercely protective of his family. He shoulders responsibility without complaint, though he rarely speaks of his own dreams or frustrations.

Wife: Elena (32 years old) – A fishmonger who sells Nicolai’s catch at the Vallaki market, often bargaining hard to secure fair prices.
Children:
Vasile (10 years old): A curious boy who helps his father with the nets and dreams of becoming a fisherman himself.
Ilinca (8 years old): A spirited girl who enjoys helping her mother at the market and listening to her grandfather's tales.

Quote
Stefan Zovtovich (Second Son)
Age: 32
Location: Vallaki
Spoiler: show
Slightly taller than Nicolai, but with a wiry build instead of broadness. His espresso-brown hair, inherited from his mother, is kept short and tidy. His hazel-brown eyes are warm and reflective, a direct match to his mother’s, often betraying his emotions despite his quiet demeanor. He bears a small Ezrite tattoo on his forearm, a crude symbol of his faith that he etched himself during a moment of doubt. His boots are heavily worn but always clean and polished. He is quiet and introspective, with a melancholic streak. He has a strong sense of duty to his family but often struggles with the weight of his own choices. He works as a laborer on a wealthier villager’s farm, performing strenuous tasks for modest wages.

Wife: Sofia (30 years old) – An herbalist who gathers plants from the nearby forests, crafting remedies and teas to sell in the market.

Children:
Anca (6 years old): A bright child who enjoys learning about herbs and their uses from her mother.
Matei (4 years old): A quiet boy who loves playing in the fields and listening to stories.
Ioana (2 years old): A bubbly toddler who brings joy to the household with her laughter.

Quote
Andrei Zovtovich (Third Son)
Age: 29
Location: Vallaki
Spoiler: show
He is of medium height and build, with strong arms and broad hands shaped by carpentry. His unruly auburn brown hair stands out in the family, and his vibrant grey eyes match his father’s, twinkling with creativity and wit. He bears a small nick on his left ear from an accident with a chisel. He’s often covered in sawdust and wears a patched leather apron that’s always functional. Outgoing and cheerful, with an easygoing charm. He loves storytelling and bringing joy to those around him but harbors quiet insecurities about living up to his father’s legacy.

Wife: Catrina (27 years old) – A seamstress who contributes to the household by mending and sewing clothing.
Children:
Danica (5 years old): A creative child who enjoys drawing on scraps of wood with charcoal from her father’s shop.
Toma (3 years old): A playful boy who loves spending time with his father, pretending to build furniture.

Antoine Favreault

Quote
Guillaume and Eloise Favreault
Deceased

Antoine's parents, Guillaume and Eloise Favreault, were commoners in Chateaufaux when the Covenant rose to power. With the hope of getting a better life and new opportunities, they joined the Covenant side. They both died during the fights that followed.

Quote
Henri Favreault
23 years old
Location: Chateaufaux

Henri is the splitting image of his older brother Antoine. Hair falling pass his shoulder, he likes keeping a short beard to try and make himself look older. He is a man of ill-repute, doing small jobs for the underworld of Chateauxfaux. He never accepted Antoine's help and is quite resentful of his brother leaving him to go live in Port-a-Lucine.

Description: While betrothed to the mysterious "Sieur," a young Vivianne met Emilian Lovari and soon sacrificed her life of privilege to wed him after discovering that she was with child. Though she kept her practiced mannerisms and noble bearing, even teaching the finer points of etiquette to her son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren right up until her death from natural causes, she refused to reveal the name of her former family and rarely ventured beyond the Quartier Marchand except to visit La Grande Bibliothèque.

Quote

NPC Name: "Sieur"
Relation: ?
Location: ?

Spoiler: show
Description: After Vivianne Lovari passed, a faded portrait of this man and a letter written by him were found amongst her effects. The provocative contents established that the two were betrothed and already intimately familiar, though the tone soon shifted to one of aggressive disapproval of Vivianne's desire to pursue a higher education. After a lengthy, oftentimes vitriolic lecture on feminine virtues - during which the obedience of a wife to a husband and an expectation of subservience was repeatedly stressed - the missive was signed "Sieur," though at some point the rest of the name had been ripped from the parchment.

Quote

NPC Name: Jacques Lovari
Relation: Father
Location: Dementlieu, Port-à-Lucine, Quartier Marchand

Spoiler: show
Description: The only child of Vivianne Lovari, Jacques is a man torn between two worlds, having spent his life navigating the complex interplay of privilege and prejudice in Port-à-Lucine. His annual forays into Borca alongside his Lovari grandparents eventually led to him marrying Esmeralda, to whom he is utterly devoted in his own quiet way. Reserved and calculating, Jacques has built a reputation as a shrewd merchant with an uncanny ability to predict market trends, occasionally earning a modicum of respect from the upper echelons of Dementlieuse society. Since the death of his son, though, his proficiencies - and popularity - have waned.

Quote

NPC Name: Besnik the Brave
Relation: Maternal Grandfather
Location: traveling the Core, preference for Borca

Spoiler: show
Description: Known for his booming laugh, quick wit, and uncanny ability to discern truths others prefer to hide, Besnik is a legend among his own people. Despite his adventurous Vistani spirit, he holds a soft spot for Borca, often claiming that its dark charm and deadly beauty mirror the complexities of his own life. Besnik is a master storyteller and harbors a trove of tales, some so fantastical they might actually be true - such as the one that earned him the appellation of 'the Brave'.

Quote

NPC Name: Selva of the Orzani
Relation: Maternal Grandmother
Location: traveling the Core, preference for Borca

Spoiler: show
Description: Selva is a stoic matriarch with a sharp eye and an even sharper tongue. Respected as a seer among the Vistani, her prophetic visions have guided her people through perilous times, and she never shies from issuing cryptic warnings that leave others uneasy. Her vibrant scarves, jingling jewelry, and carefully painted hands suggest a woman steeped in tradition, and her gaze often betrays a deep and knowing wisdom. Though she prefers the wild, untamed parts of Borca, Selva - and her weathered Tarokka deck - occasionally ventures into Port-à-Lucine to offer omens and insights to select clientele.

Quote

NPC Name: Esmeralda "Esme" Lovari
Relation: Mother
Location: Dementlieu, Port-à-Lucine, Quartier Marchand / traveling the Core, preference for Borca

Spoiler: show
Description: Esmeralda is a striking mixture of Vistani heritage and Dementlieuse refinement, the latter learned from her late mother-in-law. After nearly three decades spent with one foot in each world, Esme is as comfortable orchestrating a salon soirée as she is navigating the winding roads of the Core, though these abilities have made her an enigma to both cultures. Known for her elegant manner and commanding presence, Esme carries herself with quiet authority. She frequently disappears for weeks at a time, returning with cryptic stories and artifacts for her husband to sell, fueling whispers about the true purpose of her travels.

Quote

NPC Name: François Lovari
Relation: Older Brother
Status / Location: Presumed Deceased, Amaranthe

Spoiler: show
Description: François was the golden child of the Lovari family - a perfect blend of Vistani and Dementlieuse cultures. Intelligent, witty, handsome, and physically robust, he had grand plans to rise through the ranks of the Gendarme Nationale after he came of age and enlisted. His disappearance during the Siege of Amaranthe is shrouded in mystery, with conflicting accounts claiming he fell victim to the Falkovnian soldiers or was taken captive by them. Though his body was never recovered, nor was any ransom ever demanded, he is presumed to be one of the many unidentifiable dead buried in mass graves.

Family Tree: Click for easier viewing.

Alive Non-Player Characters:

Spoiler: show
Quote
NPC Name: Baronet Almar Mercier
Relation to PC: Grandfather to Auria, Élisa, and Luc, and father-in-law to Coralie
Location: Azur Bay Home

Describe the NPC: The patriarch of the Mercier family, Almar was born into wealth and sea trade already, but with a keen mind and a sense of ambition untouched by the rest of his family. In the course of his life he took the family to new heights. An affable, social man, he spends a lot of his time politicking and leaves much of the business sense to his wife. He is deeply beloved by his family, reaching almost boisterous levels of happiness when he can be around a lot of them, and wishes to see them thrive. He hopes for their happiness, but knows better than anyone that sometimes happiness must be set aside for success.

Quote
NPC Name: Vasilia Mercier
Relation: Baronet Mercier’s Wife
Location: Azur Bay Home

Describe the NPC: The matriarch of the Mercier family, Vasilia is known for her intellect in the realm of mathematics, business, and finance. She is generally a rather detached woman, favoring science over faith and discipline over passion. She raised her sons to be honest and hardworking, while her husband spoiled them and encouraged them to follow their dreams (as long as they were beneficial to the family, of course).

Quote
NPC Name: Henrick Mercier
Relation to PC: Auria’s Father
Location: Azur Bay Home

Describe the NPC: The firstborn son of the Baronet and in line to inherit the title, Henrick is a hardworking, responsible, and often exhausted individual who has taken the troubles and management of his family upon his shoulders. He tries not to show the burdens of his role, and to see to his duties with humility, but at times he can snap and have episodes of anger. Like any Mercier son, he is an apt sailor, but has inherited more of his mother’s business acumen than his father’s political prowess.

Quote
NPC Name: Faris Mercier
Relation: Third-born son to Baronet Mercier
Location: Azur Bay Home

Describe the NPC: A younger son of the Baronet, Faris is the most like his father of the Mercier boys. He is willful, sociable, charming. He knows how to command a room, but he can also get anyone on his side in a moment. He is unfortunately also flighty, flirty, and hard to track down, but has been an asset to the family who tries to keep his worst behavior under check and under wraps. He is not as experienced as the late Narin in seafaring, but has spent more time than Henrick on the family’s boats.

Quote
NPC Name: Alana Mercier
Relation: Faris’ Wife
Location: Azur Bay Home

Describe the NPC: Hailing from a merchant family herself, Alana is respectable, careful, and cunning. She keeps her husband, Faris in check, quite well, managing his business and his social calendar. She is sharply disapproving of anything untoward or inappropriate, and can be easy to displease. She had a son as soon as she could to mold into a leader of the future house, and was delighted when Henrick failed to produce heirs. She is obsessed with the future and success of her son, Marian.

Quote
NPC Name: Marian Mercier
Relation: Faris and Alana’s son, third-in-line behind Henrick
Location: Azur Bay Home, though often in Port-a-Lucine to help Henrick and Faris manage business

Describe the NPC: Marian tries to be the perfect son. He is carefully reared by his mother, aunts, and uncles in the ‘image’ of the perfect Mercier. He has spent years on ships, years in training, and years in education, trying to ensure he has all the best gifts of the family. Clearly primed and set to lead the house in the next generation, Marian never complains about the expectations placed upon him and appears to perform every task to its requirements. It is hard to catch him off guard, unawares, or doing anything untoward. And he is even pleasant to be around. Many wonder what must be wrong with him - everyone has something.

Quote
NPC Name: Girard Mercier
Relation to PC: Luc’s Father
Location: Azur Bay Home, often travelling for business

Describe the NPC: The baby of the family, Girard is a mother’s boy who focuses on making the most of her business advice. When the lucrative deals have suddenly dried up and someone has been left holding the bag, that's where Uncle Girard steps in with his caravan that offloads whatever the Dementlieuse elites have moved on from to markets hungry for such things yet still in Richemulot's Pont-a-Museau.  Sometimes in trade, ill-advised gambles and guesses are made. Girard has served the family more than once by making entire warehouses of unwanted goods disappear.

Quote
NPC Name: Chrestienne Mercier
Relation to PC: Luc’s Mother
Location: Azur Bay Home

Describe the NPC: Chrestienne’s family had the pedigree but no longer held fortune. Chrestienne and Girard happened to frequent the same social circles in Richemulot, and she was excited to be courted by someone who could whisk her away to the Jewel of the Core. She enjoys poetry and portraiture, in addition to being a socialite. More shy and reserved than the other women of House Mercier, she is often sitting quietly when they are gathered.

Quote
NPC Name: Valéry Mercier
Relation to PC: Élisa’s Grandfather
Location: Azur Bay Home

Describe the NPC: While his brother took on the family business and building up the house, Valéry instead followed soime of their uncles in a tradition of service toward the Eastern side of Dementlieu. He started as retainer to a noble house, and eventually served in the Gendarmerie in Chateaufaux. His service shaped him as a man, and he acts much like other proud, militaristic, and strict Eastern men. He is now retired and has since moved his family to be with the Azur Bay branch.

Quote
NPC Name: Deline Mercier
Relation to PC: Élisa Grandmother
Location: Azur Bay Home

Describe the NPC: A Gendarme herself, Deline met her husband Valéry while in service. The two have mutual values and raised their children in a strict and proper home. A bit more ambitious than her husband who is happy just to serve, Deline has been in contact with the Baronet in decades since joining the house, helping to try and propel the family into status.

Quote
NPC Name: Régis Mercier
Relation to PC: Élisa’s Father
Location: Azur Bay Home

Describe the NPC:Deline and Valéry’s first and most successful son, Régis is an officer in the Gendarmerie, recently transferred to the Southwest from Chateaufaux. Though he tries his best to take after his parents, he has always had a temper and an impulsive tongue, which he tries to keep in check. Despite his nature, he does his best to come off as the well-meaning, honest, and calm man he wants to be, like his Father. His eldest child, Élisa, has taken after him.

Quote
NPC Name: Agnès Mercier
Relation to PC: Élisa’s Mother
Location: Azur Bay Home

Describe the NPC: Born to a wealthy Borcan household, her marriage with Régis was arranged by Deline and the Baronet in an attempt to strengthen trade relationships. However, the ‘match’ was not well-considered, as Agnès is a rather poor fit for this branch of the family’s strict ways. As much as Régis, Agnès has a sharp tongue and a blunt nature, and the two fight often. Their household is a bizarre one, as Agnès wishes to raise the children in her own Borcan image, often arguing with Régis and Deline over proper rearing and manners of the kids.

Deceased Non-Player Characters:

Spoiler: show
Quote
NPC Name: Cosia Mercier
Relation to PC: Auria’s Mother
Location: RIP

Describe the NPC: The late wife of Henrick Mercier, Cosia met and married Henrick at a pivotal time for the family, when they were still commoners but on the “upwards” motion. They fell in true love, and Henrick loved Cosia’s odd charms, obsession with plants and the outdoors, and her musical talents. But as Henrick’s family began to enforce a certain kind of lifestyle on their family, as required for the attempt for nobility, Cosia began to suffer under the weight of expectation. She passed away mysteriously; no one in the family will discuss it.

Quote
NPC Name: Narin Mercier
Relation to PC: Coralie’s Husband
Location: RIP

Describe the NPC: Narin was the foremost sailor among his brothers and by far the most arrogant. He trained exceptionally hard within his youth and as the years went by, he found himself gravitating to a more "hands-off" position. While he took a larger cut for doing less work, he didn't hesitate to spend it on his family or stow it away for a rainy day. He was a very attentive and strict father to his sons, and a somewhat meek, absent-minded husband. Over the years Narin  - particularly after achieving Nobility - became more accustomed to a softer life and found his end in an unfortunate chicken dish at the age of forty six.

Quote
NPC Name: Faren Mercier
Relation: Brother of Baronet Mercier
Location: RIP

Describe the NPC: One of the Baronet’s brothers, Faren was killed in a pirate attack on the Sea of Sorrows after a failed parley. His corpse was brought home after a lot of negotiation and payments, and he was buried on the family property.

Quote
NPC Name: Arner Mercier
Relation: Brother of Baronet Mercier
Location: RIP

Describe the NPC: One of the Baronet’s brothers, Arner was lost in an expedition in the mists by boat when he was very young. He was never recovered and is presumed dead.

┌──❀*̥˚───❀*̥˚─┐
Brooke of Tepest
└───❀*̥˚───❀*̥˚┘

Family Tree

Quote
Neasa of Tepest
Relation: Mother
NPC Location: Tepest, unnamed hamlet near the River of Tears, close to the border of Darkon.
Status: Unknown.

Brief Description
Spoiler: show
Quote
The daughter of Keira and Neil of Tepest, Neasa was a charming and beautiful woman - even by Tepestani standards. She lived simply, working as a farmhand on her family's land. Before falling pregnant with Brooke, she was meant to be trained as her hamlet’s bard. But the scandal of an unwed pregnancy by an unknown man ended that. She raised Brooke under the weight of the communities' shame for the girl’s strange, wild looks. Over time, bitterness grew, straining their bond. After the Inquisition came for Brooke, who fled with her uncle, Neasa’s fate remains unknown - though it is likely she was arrested under the charges of being a 'fey-consort.'

Kjartan Iglikowski
Relation: Father
NPC Location: Unknown.
Status: Alive.

Brief Description
Spoiler: show
Quote
The son of Magnhild Iglikowski and Siofra, Kjartan is a half-fey nymph of Nova Vaasa, born from the union of a mortal and a Shee. A wild, self-serving spirit, he is obsessed with his beauty and voice - vanity made flesh. Delighting in adoration, he charms both women and men; Neasa was one such person. Their union led to the birth of Brooke, a fact Kjartan is aware of, though he’s likely sired other unknown children. He has never met Brooke, and his whereabouts are unknown, though it’s likely he continues to seek worship through manipulation, charm, and whatever means suit a fey

Keira of Tepest
Relation: Grandmother.
NPC Location: Tepest, unnamed hamlet near the River of Tears, close to the border of Darkon.
Status: Alive.

Brief Description
Spoiler: show
Quote
The wise woman of her small community and mother of Neasa, she was trained - like her mother and grandmother before her - in healing and midwifery. She had hoped Neasa would follow the same path, but her daughter showed little interest. After the Grand Upheaval and the rise of the Inquisition, she became a target like many women of her craft, suspected of dark sorcery. Despite Brooke’s wild and unusual nature, she loved the girl dearly, treating her as her own. Now, however, that love may draw suspicion, especially after Brooke’s attempted arrest and escape, leaving her fate uncertain.

Neil of Tepest
Relation: Grandfather.
NPC Location: Tepest, unnamed hamlet near the River of Tears, close to the border of Darkon.
Status: Alive.

Brief Description
Spoiler: show
Quote
A typical Tepestani man, Neil took joy in life’s simple pleasures: hard work, song, and devotion to the gods. Originally from Viktal, he met his wife Neasa through an arranged marriage between families of equal standing. He relied on Keira’s wisdom as she did on his love and dedication - a truly fitting match. Neil shared a warm bond with Brooke, often praising her musical talents. Yet he feared a fey taint in her, a fear intensified by the Inquisition’s arrival. Though simple at heart, Neil is deeply afraid for his family, especially knowing how fearful and paranoid the Inquistion can become.

Magnhild Iglikowski
Relation: Grandmother.
NPC Location: Nova Vaasa, Liara.
Status: Alive.

Brief Description
Spoiler: show
Quote
Raised in thin and strangling middle class, Magnhild married into the Iglikowski family - wine merchants clawing for status in cruel Nova Vaasan high society. Like many of her lower class, her marriage wasn’t for love but for advantage. Yet that didn’t stop her from seeking romance. When Siofra, a Shee, began appearing in the vineyards by moonlight, she fell for him. Their affair lasted but a season, and from it came scandal - Kjartan, a child far too strange to pass as normal. In the eyes of the Lawgiver, he was a punishment for past sins, and the shame has lingered over the family ever since..

Siofra
Relation: Grandfather.
NPC Location: Unknown.
Status: Alive.

Brief Description
Spoiler: show
Quote
The beginning of the fey line in the family between Kjartan and Brooke. Somehow he was led astray from the Shadow Rift for a time and seemingly into a season-lasting union with a mortal.

Patrick of Tepest
Relation: Cousin.
NPC Location: Tepest, unnamed hamlet near the River of Tears, close to the border of Darkon.
Status: Deceased.

Brief Description
Spoiler: show
Quote
Son of Neil’s own brother, living in the same hamlet. He was the community’s bard and mentor to Brooke of Tepest. As typical as any Tepestani, he was even more fearful and superstitious than most. For a time, he believed he could help Brooke become less wild, curbing her tendency to sing about nature and the fey. His lessons worked briefly before everything unraveled. Feeling obligated, Patrick informed the Inquisition during a routine patrol. This led to the attempted arrest of Brooke - which failed - but also to his own, as he had consorted with a suspected ‘fey consort.’ He was found guilty and burned.

Rosaleen of Viktal
Relation: Cousin.
NPC Location: Tepest, Viktal.
Status: Alive.

Brief Description
Spoiler: show
Quote
Daughter of Neil’s brother and sister to Patrick, she left the hamlet she was born in to pursue a holy path in service to Belenus. She began as a priestess, though like many who now serve Belenus, she became part of the growing Order of the Belenus Inquisition and was radicalized by its ideals. She now wages a personal crusade against the fey. It’s likely she has learned of Brooke’s situation by now, though how she has reacted remains uncertain - though, given her convictions, it is likely with a burning hatred.

Quote
The remainder of her family consists of three uncles and two aunts, alongside a handful of cousins who mostly live within the unnamed hamlet or reside in Viktal.
