PC Name: Felise Engels

Quote
Georges Deschamps
Father
Mortigny - Richemulot

58 year old industrial merchant. Born dementlieuse, he moved to Richemulot for it's class permeability and married a local woman in Mortigny. He is intelligent and loves his children equally, but expressed this in his very high expectations to their respective skills, pushing them to ambition and a better life since an early age. He indebted himself to the Lavigny family for 20.522 scandals and to the maison des Cent Papillons for 120.000 scandals to pay for their respective educations, before his weavery business failed.

Quote
Cecile La Berche
Sister
Port-A-Lucine - Dementlieu

27 year old classical beauty. She inherited her looks and temperament from the dementlieuse side of the family and is moderately clever. She spent much more time at home with her parents while Felise was at the maison des Cent Papillons for her arcane education. She despises Felise for being their father's "favourite" because he paid so much more for her schooling. Cecile was expected to play her socialite skills well and save the weavery through a beneficial marriage into a minor dementlieuse noble house in the dye trade; the marriage was a success but instead of saving the weavery, Cecile moved to Port-A-Lucine with her husband.

Quote
Thibaud Engels
Husband
Mortigny - Richemulot

42 year old barbier. Though diligent and talented in his field, he is indebted to the Lavigny family for 44.695 scandals in living costs and supplies of trade. A traditional man struggling to find a wife up to his mid-thirties due to his debt, he married Felise out of desire to sire a son and have a seemly family. He considers her mouthy. He was the only one to take her off her father's pocket after his business went bankrupt.

Quote
Jacques Engels
Son
Mortigny - Richemulot

8 years old. His parents sold him into the debt to the Lavigny family as a stable boy in exchange for Felise's permission to work elsewhere. Since his parents worked at the noble's court for as long as he could remember, the change in his life was merely formal – he considers the court's cook and the stablemaster more of a family than Felise and Thibaud.

PC Name: River "Riverstrider" Caladon, AKA Nico Arvid, Born 748BC

Biological Family:

Spoiler: Sonja Arvid, Mother • show
NPC Name: Sonja Arvid, Born 731BC
Relation to PC: Birth Mother
NPC Location: Skald, Kartakass, currently missing.

Describe the NPC: Sonja lost her husband shortly after Nico was born to a wolfwere attack. After becoming stricken with grief and suffering from postpartum, she became convinced her baby was a changeling and refused to care for it. She abandoned the baby near a river in the Rodskoven for the fey to return her baby for the changeling, though soon after no baby was brought to her, she succumbed to sorrow and faded into obscurity, likely a hermit if still alive, giving up her life as a flutist. Appearance, she is average height, brown hair, hazel eyes, and fair skinned.

Spoiler: Soren Arvid, Father (deceased) • show
NPC Name: Soren Arvid, Born 728BC
Relation to PC: Birth Father
NPC Location: Skald, Kartakas, presumed dead.

Describe the NPC: Soren worked as a carpenter and made bridges, laid roads, and took odd jobs with some of the logging camps in the Rodskoven. He was called away to help with some transport of wood from the Ulvskoven, when his party was set upon by wolfweres. All that was found of his body was his severed forearm and hand, and he was declared dead. Soren was taller than average at 6'2'', with ashy to dirty light brown hair, blue eyes, and olive skinned.

Foster Family:

Spoiler: Nemetranee Caladon, Materna Figure • show
NPC Name: Nemetranee Caladon, Born 655BC
Relation to PC: Foster Mother
NPC Location: Rodskoven, Kartakass

Describe the NPC: Hailing from Har-Thelen, Nemetranee is a cynical poet who left Sithicus to the neighboring Kartakass to raise her family outside for a little while the same way human families summer in the country side. She had been with child and nursing twins only four months old with a three year old boy when she was walking by the Kiloven River with her children to collect truffles. When she found Nico floating on the river, she rescued the babe and, much like a mother cat takes in a stray kitten, decided to keep him. She is tall and elegant with amber-green eyes and dark silver hair that coils like crawling ivy.

Spoiler: Silvanas Caladon, Paternal Figure • show

NPC Name: Silvanas Caladon, Born 653BC
Relation to PC: Foster Father
NPC Location: Rodskoven, Kartakass

Describe the NPC: Hailing from Har-Thelen, Silvanas moved his family Temporarily into Kartakass in order to appease his wife who was with child and feeling the fleeting whimsy to do so, although he was apathetic regarding the notion. When he was presented with a human child, his first instinct was to take it back to Skald and leave it there, even so much as trying to find the exact mother through rumors and heresay about any who lost a child. Whatever he discovered, he came back with the baby and they decided to extend their vacation a few short decades to raise it, much to his own chagrin. Despite his contempt for humans, he minded the logging villages in the Rodskoven convinced that humans were over deforesting, and spent much of his time teaching rangers the balance and lore. He is tall and regal with a plain expression, hook nose, gray eyes and dark silver hair.

Spoiler: Foster Siblings • show
NPC Name: Heian (eldest, deceased), Lia & Ielenia (twins), Enialis (youngest)
Relation to PC: Foster Siblings
NPC Location: Rodskoven, Kartakass

Describe the NPC: Heian was an adventurous child, who was the first to spot Nico floating on the river as a baby when he was only 3. Sadly, his curiosity was his downfall, and only a few short months later, he was turned to stone in the woods by a cockatrice. Lia and Ielenia are the same age as Nico, 26, although they are still children as elves age much slower. Enialis was not born when Nico came to join the family, and is the youngest. They grew up visiting the statue of their curios older brother, forever a toddler, deep in the Rodskoven, and playing together all sorts of children's games. As they realized Nico would age much faster, they started to call him Big Brother. They have dark silver hair, amber-green eyes, and still look like children.

PC Name: Beve Eslinger

Quote
NPC Name: Luann Eslinger
Relation to PC: Mother
NPC Location: Nartok, Darkon. Eslinger Manor.

A gregarious woman who often keeps her knowledge at hearts length, Luann has ever been a mystery in the eyes of her community. Numerous rumors abound about her supposed hobbies, and as rumors go, many aren't too kind due to the way she keeps her private life barred to most, even her own daughter. The most striking of these rumors is the fact that she has never been married.  Not once.  Yet, one day, she began to show.  And in time?  She was immensely gravid with her first and only child. During these days, a young woman had visited the Eslinger Manor on a weekly basis. Considering the two's overly fond reactions to one another, the rumors only continued.

As Beve grew older, Luann pressured the young Eslinger to learn the Arcane, and so set her on the path by tutoring her with a local arcanist. Later, she would see her daughter off on a caravan bound for Demeneltieu, to learn from Port-au-Lucine's arcane "scientists." It all came together quickly, lending her daughter to believe she was sent away for a reason.

Quote
NPC Name: Rolagan the Wiser
Relation to PC: Former Tutor
NPC Location: Nartok, Darkon.

A middling wizard of little renown, but a friendly demeanor, Rolagan taught Beve the basics of arcane magic to give her a leg up on other students at the university in Port-au-Lucine.

PC Name: Balthazar de la Rochenoire

NPC Family Members

Spoiler: show
Quote
Bernard de la Rochenoire
Father
Residing in Charbonne, Dementlieu

The old baron of the small demesne town of Charbonne. He is the reclusive head of the de la Rochenoire family, hardly interested in communicating with other nobles after the controversies done by his predecessor, Guillaume de la Rochenorie. His only interest is to maintain his family holdings and assure that it survives. His obsession to his family’s success has come with the pressure for his heirs to marry and provide the family with children. When Balthazar was wed to Valentine Bonacieux, the pair were stressed to provide an heir, for his older brothers had been incapable of doing such at the time.

Sylvie de la Rochenoire née Mercier
Mother
Residing in Charbonne, Dementlieu

A woman of similar years to her aged husband, Baron de la Rochenoire. She is a skilled painter and noblewoman from a minor family. She is the mother of five of the Baron’s children. She is a polite, creative and calm woman. Balthazar has always been closer to his mother than with his father, preferring her talents over the family’s industrious side.

Augustin de la Rochenoire
Older Brother
Residing in Charbonne, Dementlieu

The middle-aged Augustin has adopted Bernard’s industrious side, however resents what he calls his father’s “inaction”, criticizing his reclusive nature. Balthazar and Augustin do not share any interests nor do they interact much, the pair only accepting one another’s existence. Currently Augustin is married to Claire Brosseau and has a son called Gabriel.

Olivier de la Rochenoire
Second Older Brother
Residing in Charbonne, Dementlieu

Olivier is similar to his older brother, Augustin, and often supports him in his trade expeditions for the family. Balthazar’s relations with Olivier are similar to Augustin, the pair hardly ever speaking to one another due to a lack of common interest. Unlike his brothers, Olivier remains unmarried.

Charlotte de la Rochenoire
Older sister
Residing in Charbonne, Dementlieu

Along with both his mother and younger sister, Charlotte gets along with Balthazar very well. The pair often growing up together and sharing their artistic works. Any matters personal, the pair would always trust one another. Throughout their lives the two have supported one another when in distress.

Lambert de la Rochenoire
Uncle
Residing in Port-a-Lucine, Dementlieu

Lambert is a scholar at heart. He respects members of his family and even has been supportive of his nephew Balthazar. Lambert was married to the now deceased Marguerite Dupin.

Quote
Josephine de Verley
Father’s mistress
Unknown

A maid servant that served in the family estate. It was later revealed that Josephine was impregnated by Bernard himself, resulting in the birth of Balthazar’s younger half-brother, who was recognized as a mere bastard. Years later she disappeared without a trace.

Deceased Family Members

Spoiler: show
Quote
Guillaume de la Rochenoire
Grandfather
Deceased

Guillaume was a controversial figure and responsible for the family’s drop in popularity due to open comments against the lower class and open support over the ruling of Lord-Governor Foquelaine. Balthazar never had the opportunity to meet Guillaume for he passed away prior to his birth.

Gaston de la Rochenoire
Son
Deceased

Gastion is the child that was not meant to be. The complications of the birth produced an offspring that did not survive its first week in a loss that took a great toll on the couple. It resulted in years of seclusion from both Balthazar and Valentine, with rumors spread that the young woman required additional care to acquaint herself with the death.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): She was known as an extremely atypical Barovian; long, silken blonde hair and striking blue eyes. It's well known that this woman met her end violently, rumored to have been stabbed close to twenty times in her own home.

Quote
NPC Name: Tomas Lacusta
Relation to PC: Son
NPC Location: Resides in the Lacusta residence in the Vallaki Residential District.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Tomas takes most from his Father, a sharp-tongue, narrow green eyes, and wind-swept auburn hair. With endless energy, as a youngster should have, Tomas is often found cheering and playing around the streets of Vallaki's Residential District.

Quote
NPC Name: Virgil Lacusta

NPC Location: Resides in the Lacusta residence in the Vallaki Residential District.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): A taller, if not incredibly muscular Barovian man. He appears to be leering on his fifties but doesn't look a day older than thirty. Much like Vali, he takes to the woods and the forests of Barovia as if they were home. Now, a retired huntsman, he houses Vali's son, Tomas in the Lacusta residence.

Quote
NPC Name: Anca Lacusta
Relation to PC: Mother
NPC Location: Resides in the Lacusta residence in the Vallaki Residential District.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Anca, unlike many of the archetypal Barovians, is a sweet older woman. Only at the age of fifty-five have the grey hairs begun to tarnish her youthful features, she appears to be in excellent health and is most often seen tending to her garden in the Lacusta residence.

Lavinia Iphigenia Peregrinus

Of the House Peregrinus:

Spoiler: show
Quote
Moulded from humble beginnings as Wine sellers, Peregrinus' were initially simple merchants in the Wine industry, having little to their name aside from a sweet, yet clear vintage of Wine that came from vineyards close by the city of Karg. The founder of the house, Secundus Valerian Peregrinus was the son of a simple merchant who, due to his exceptional skill with book-keeping, caught the eye of an affluent Baron in Ualle, one of many stops for the caravan his family operated. Through his skills, the Baron of house Vociferor became wealthier by the day. Upon Azalin's disappearance, Baron Vociferor grew proud and more dangerously, ambitious, starting a feud with a neighbouring baron in hopes of taking their lands and increasing his own holdings.

The bitter feud went on for five long years where many from each hamlet died at the behest of their lords. Upon Azalins return, seeing the damage the two nobles had wrought, he got rid of the two nobles. To the rival neighbouring land, the barons son took over the house, in the case of House Vociferor, the war he had with his neighbour had not been kind to him and he had lost his sons. Azalin instead noted that despite the destruction, the Vineyards, run in Baron Vociferors stead by Secundus had not only continued their sales, but nigh doubled them. In recognition of his efforts, and his affiliation with the previous house non withstanding, Azalin appointed Secundus as Baron of Ualle and it's holdings, tasked to continue the work he had already wrought. Seeking to establish himself and seeing potential in the youngest daughter of the late Baron Vociferor, Secundus had his layabout son, Pelagious marry , cementing both houses in marriage and later, children.

House Peregrinus Emblem:

Spoiler: show
Quote
A black Falcon clutching an equally black rose upon a escutcheon of wine-red. The Falcon symbolises the Peregrinus name, the black-rose a symbol once belonging to the Vociferor family, now clearly held by the Peregrinus House. The wine-red escutcheon points to the families vineyard roots.

PC: Arthur Shuttleworth (born 3rd October 754)

NPC Name: Alistair Shuttleworth
Relation to PC: Father (deceased)
NPC Location: Mordentshire

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): The younger brother of Graham Shuttleworth, Arthur's father was a Lamplighter and Ezrite of the Second Revelation.  He died when Arthur was a boy, while on duty one night, allegedly scared to death by spirits (his body was discovered, hair turned white with fright).  His father's death had a profound impact on Arthur, motivating him to want to prevent others from falling to Old Night's harms.

NPC Name: Isla Shuttleworth
Relation to PC: Mother
NPC Location: Mordentshire

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): The family matriarch. Intelligent and tolerant, her main priority is the good of her family. Despite being a Halan, Isla married Alistair Shuttleworth, Arthur's father, out of love;  and while the local Pure Hearts huffed and puffed about a non-canonical marriage, ultimately they tolerated it on the principle that it would divide and weaken their community to oppose themselves to the marriage utterly.  Arthur learned much from his mother, particularly having a distaste for religious zeal or inflexibility.

NPC Name: Graham Shuttleworth
Relation to PC: Paternal uncle.
NPC Location: Mordentshire

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): A member of the Lamplighters and a follower of Ezra's Second Revelation, Graham Shuttleworth is a devout, decent, law-abiding officer, whose main flaw is a limited imagination.  He never approved of his brother Alistair's marriage to a Halan, but nonetheless supports the family, especially after his brother's death.

NPC Name: Will Shuttleworth
Relation to PC: Brother (2 year younger than Arthur)
NPC Location: Mordentshire

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Sports a moustache to make him seem older.  Will is a promising carpenter, and soon to marry the daughter of a local shipwright.

NPC Name: Charlotte Shuttleworth
Relation to PC: Sister (3 year younger than Arthur)
NPC Location: Mordentshire

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Encouraged by her mother, Charlotte possesses an intelligent and quick mind; what some locals deem "too clever by half".  This has contributed to an air of aloofness that has kept potential suitors at bay, to the dismay of her uncle and indifference of her mother.  Unknown to her family, even her mother and sisters, she has been studying the Arcane in secrecy.

NPC Name: Abigail Shuttleworth (Now a PC!)
Relation to PC: Sister (5 year younger than Arthur)
NPC Location: Mordentshire

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Twin of Tim Shuttleworth; and the elder by half an hour, a fact of which she never fails to remind him.

NPC Name: Tim Shuttleworth
Relation to PC: Brother (5 year younger than Arthur)
NPC Location: Mordentshire

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Younger twin of Abigail Shuttleworth.

NPC Name: Elisa Shuttleworth
Relation to PC: Sister (8 years younger than Arthur)
NPC Location: Mordentshire

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): A young brown-haired girl who remains innocent of the world's greater woes.  She is too young to remember her father.

It is unclear what happened to this once charismatic, promising young man, as he went on a downward spiral long ago, but since the failed revolution his fate was sealed and he never touched his cherished piano again. Whatever coin he makes from bouncing between jobs that doesn't go to paying rent, goes to poison his liver.

NPC Location: Quartier Ouvrier, Port-à-Lucine

Describe the NPC: Fallen for Jerome's charms, Emmanuelle was a bright-faced girl that quickly became embittered with her fate. She works the loom, selling simple tailoring goods to her neighbors, whenever she is not cussing out her husband or throwing a shoe at her children.

Quote

Relation to PC: Older Brother

NPC Location: Cimetière des Âmes-Sereines

Quote
NPC Name: Robine Mimieux

Relation to PC: Twin Sister

Describe the NPC: The estranged (and technically youngest) Mimieux, Robine does not get along with any member of her family and has left them behind for promises of a brighter future serving in the household of a southern aristocrat. She does not write nor send back solars to her struggling kin, and since 771 B.C., no one back home has heard word from her.

Curiously, even though she is without a doubt Brigitte's twin, the two look nothing alike.
