Native PCs - Family NPCs

Attention Mistdwellers!  This space is reserved for Native PCs to list significant characters from their background and can/will be used by DMs in an attempt to enrich the setting.  Native PCs offer a unique opportunity in that they are from the areas we play in and unlike Outlanders, who have been ripped from their homes and families, Natives have a lingering background that can be used to enhance our storytelling.  If this were PnP this would be a resource we could draw on, so as an experiment we're going to try and compile a list of potential NPCs we can use to populate our adventures who have some ties to current native PCs.  If you play a Native PC and want to list some significant characters from your characters background, this is the place.  Who knows, you might see them in game or have a plot revolve around them.

Anyways, there will be some ground rules here, we don't want to bog this down:

• Natives ONLY!
• For this experiment, limit yourself to family that live in areas that exist in the module (Krofburg, Vallaki, Barovia Village, Port-a-Lucine,'etc..)
• Please avoid grandiose NPC occupations.  Try and keep them somewhat simple (ex: Farmer, Hermit, Local Drunk, Maid, 'etc..)
• Currently, limit this to immediate family (father, mother, siblings, 'etc..)
• Cannot add new named villages or locations; must use existing ones or unnamed ones.
• This is not restricted to current PCs, if you had a past Native character with surviving family feel free to post them.

By submitting an NPC, you are agreeing to and understanding that:

• DMs retain total creative control of the NPC and will use (or not use) them whenever and however they see fit.  Horrible things COULD (probably will) happen to them.
• You may or may not be present during an event that a relative NPC is used.
• Do not bog down the DM channel with requests to interact with your family members unless requested to do so.  These NPCs will be used as a tool for the DMs, refer to the first bullet.
• Once posted, these characters are restricted from being created by a player in game.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): A slums rat, who used to muck stables for richer families until he hurt his back which lead to his daughter working the streets to provide for the family. Married to a Vistana woman who died when Serafim was 14.

Describe the NPC :

Petru - was formerly a garda of Vallaki until he moved his family to the village of krofburg after the death of his youngest child Luminita who was trampled by a horse. A Stern man with a rigid sense of honor who excels at the use of the Halberd due to it being something of a family tradition for fathers to train the men of the Arcos line with the weapon. He now works as a grizzled old warrior alongside his peers as a Krofburg garda. He and his Son have something of a strained relationship for a number of reasons, most recently having arranged a marriage for Gavril which ended badly.

Daciana Is a Rope maker that has a somewhat protective nature over the men of her family, often placing herself between them when the two would quarrel. It's said she is known to make all manner of meals with the ample supply of goat meat and goat milk that saturates the small village even trying out extremely unorthodox recipes. Whether this is out of creativity or boredom is left up to interpretation however. Her Rope's are said to be well made and fulfill a basic need that the small village has.

Carina - Carina was formerly Gavril's wife of seven years having been roped into a marriage with the large man that was arranged by their fathers. She was an unfaithful wife who in the end ran away with a rich vineyard owners son causing something of a scandal in the small village.

NPC Location (ex: Village of Vallaki slums disctrict, 'etc..):  Morninglord Hospice, Vallaki.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words):  The mother of Cosmin Sollomovici, Ex-Garda.  She is heavily mentally disabled after being beaten near to death by their neighbors masquerading as caliban.  Her husband died in the attack.  Cosmin has since been funding her stay at the Hospice.

She is only capable of simple functions.  Near vegetable status.

description: The Benoit family is by and large a consertive and wealthy noble family in Dementlieu. Jacques her father was a stern, tough and incredibly strict father figure. He was the head of the house-hold and he made sure that his family knew it. He arranged a marriage between Josephine and Henri for political reasons.  However as Josephine knew how to fight, her uncle taught her how to fight.During the most recent war event with falkovinia, her father disowned Josephine from the Benoit family. Josephine had ran away from home disguised as a man in order to fight in the Dementlieuse army against falkovinia.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): A poor fisherman from Krezk. He's a widowed husband and the father of a single child. The death of his wife caused by his daughter caused him to harbor hidden spite towards the child. He soon became a drunkard and hardly raised Izabela right. It wasn't long before the child grew up enough to leave his side. Now all alone, his days are spent drinking and wasting away without any knowledge of what became of his daughter. He is the only living relative to Izabela.

NPC Location:  Unknown (could be dead)

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words):  Nicolai was a hard working Barovian rope maker who settled in Krofburg in the early days to escape the dreary existence of the Village of Barovia.  He married and had two sons but one fateful winter he slipped on the ice and was lsot over the edge of a cliff.  Attempts to find the body were fruitless in the cold months and no signs remained come spring.  Those who knew him considered him a kind enough soul, though hardened like most from hardships.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words):  Isabella was wrought with grief at the disappearance of her husband, and struggled for a time to provide for her two sons on the meager earnings of a rope maker.  When all seemed to be at its worst her brother-in-law showed up, coming to take her and her children back to Vallaki as his own.  While she does not love Ivan, she is grateful for the things he provides, her only regret was letting Bogdan have his way in choosing to stay in Krofburg.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words):  Ivan is pretty undesireable as far as men go, ugly as dung and completely lacking in social ettiquette.  When word came of the passing of his brother Ivan almost left the family to its own devices when he realized he could benefit from having his brothers widow around.  Asides the obvious comforts she could provide, he could put her to work mending nets and sails for the fishermen.  He spent a good year setting things up and has lived in relative comfort as a result.  While he tolerates the younger child living with them , he is defineitly pleased to not have to live with his idiot nephew Bogdan.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words):  Your average barovian child raised in the mountains, currently relocated to the confines of the city under the thumb of a less than loving uncle.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words):  Emilian is a full blooded Vistani who was outcast by his tribe, and the details of the Vishnadd were never spoken of - especially not by Emilian. Whatever crimes caused him to be exiled resulted in his tongue falling out.  His giorgio wife died with Ovidiu's birth. Emilian was last seen 4 years ago in Western Barovia living like an outlaw, haunting the homestead of his former wife's family, who he never knew while she was alive.  He is violent, mute, and a predator of women.

Describe the NPC: A man from the upper class with his own dark secrets, made cozette promise to not return to Port-A-Lucine due to her dark obsessions and her natural talents as a sorceress, he deemed them a shame to the family.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): The only maid who Cozette got along with. A souragnian woman who indulged Cozette's fondness of dark stories and dark magics.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): These two maids are dead because Cozette played a prank that resulted in them thinking the house was haunted. She moved items around to the point it frightened them, this led them to seeking a priest to bless the house, leading in the end to her mother murdering them while Cozette hid in the closet and watched.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): 5 Year old daughter of Dartov, bright and extremely smart. Lonely due to this always waiting for her workaholic father to come home. Spends most of her days reading and being tutored by her nanny. Regardless of their poor location and her fathers long absences due to working many jobs shes a content girl. Unlike most can read, write and work with numbers as much as a 5 year old can.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): 85 Year old tutor to Nikita and house keeper, her income in meager to alright, paid for by Dartov as he works his many jobs, her duties involve teaching the young Nikita and over seeing hr day to day, she lives with the two and has become much of a surrogate mother to them. Possessing a foul tempered exterior she seems harsh but really is just as caring for them as they are of her.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Chiara's 36 year old mother, who never met her daughter. Lost her mind after giving birth to Chiara and disappeared, became somewhat of a lunatic homeless woman, a stranger to her child.

Describe the NPC: Radu is the younger brother of Mihail, working in the Village of Barovia as a Potter. Radu is a quiet man, devoted to his craft. Mihail and Radu are on good terms, Mihail always having looked out for his younger brother.

NPC Name: Emilian Banciu

Relation to PC: The man who called himself 'father' to a handful of girls under his employment. Scarlet's previous boss.

Describe the NPC: An overweight and greedy man in his mid fifties, Emilian owns a tiny and run down 'club' in the slums of Vallaki. While he says 'club', what goes on behind closed doors is all but public knowledge. The girls were abused and treated poorly, to the point where it was more of an ownership than a proper job. Too afraid to try and leave, they accept their existance and go on with life as usual. Scarlet however did not, and after making her escape changed her name, and her appearance.

Scarlet has a deep grudge against this man, and any man like him. She'd be more than happy to see his end.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): A kind and caring woman, she helped get her daughter the job of maid in hopes that she would not live as hard a life as she did.

Describe the NPC: She is your normal barovian peasant, with a dark secret. Cheated her husband with a very handsome outlander sorceror (Thomas Reagan). She begged her husband to not chase Irinuca away, when they found out about her powers.

Describe the NPC: The struggling native farmer. He knows of his wife's miss-step but chose to forgive her. When he learned that his daughter posssesses vraja, he chased her away. He never fogave himself for that.

Describe the NPC: An outlander from Faerun, sorceror coming from a line of dragonh disciples. He seduced Ioana Apetrei. The result was Irinuca, who inherited his powers and continued his bloodline. When he met Ioana, he had no features resembling dragon disciples. He started getting those features as Irinuca reached 14 years old. Irinuca met him only once, when he gifted her a book and a dragon egg, from which Irinuca got her familiar (a pseudo-dragon).

Describe The NPC:

 Sarina and Orthello share a close bond to eachother, albeit some heavy differences. Being a devotee to the Morninglord Sarina often spends much of her time in prayer in the morninglord temple within vallaki. She has a reputable hatred for -varja- and undead, often saying she will one day pick  up a weapon and fight such, yet she has never gotten the nerve to do so instead being the simple merchant she is. She and her brother Orthello recently had an argument in which orthello struck her (and regrets it dearly) over her zealous faith to the morninglord. He inquires that her zeal will be the death of her and since then has not spoken to her since and ignores her whenever they see eachother. Her main reason for her faith is because of her love for a morninglordian alcolyte named Ivan Bedrilui who Orthello hates with a passion and can often be heard muttering about the blithering idiot.

Describe The NPC: A lowly alcolyte in the church of the morninglord the man has a strong faith for his god and a strong attraction for Orthello's sister infecting her with his faith as she has fallen completely in love with him. Orthello hates this man viciously and has often gotten in heated arguments with the man whenever they cross in which Orthello threatens him each time before storming off. The alcolyte truly does mean good and truly does love Orthello's sister but he like her has a zealous hate for undead and has often spoke about his desire to hunt the evil forces, in which though he knows he endangers Sarina would love for her to accompany him so that they may bring -glory- to the morninglord together.

Describe the NPC : A Nobleman who once held minor political power in Chateaufaux and used his position to force himself on numerous women of the peasantry instilling fear of legal ramifications should any of them decide to 'Talk'. Rémi's mother being one of his unfortunate victims. She had never told her son he was a product of rape though did warn him to be wary of Gérard, confessing the wrong's he had done to her when Rémi was but a boy. Rémi always operated under the assumption that the man who inflicted this malice on his mother and his father were two different people. they are not. Gérard is a typical member of the gentry, arrogant and narcissistic thinking himself beyond reproach and having no regrets to the various ill's he's afflicted over the years, likely thinking he has some rights to do such given his high birth.  He eventually left Chateaufaux and Moved to port-á-Lucine for reasons unknown.


NPC Name: Claudette Durand

Describe the NPC :  Claudette Durand made the decision to keep her baseborn child and came to resent it not long after it was born, having little material wealth and no trades to speak of she was forced into the oldest profession, selling her body in exchange for coin. As her son grew older and became more independent she became increasingly detached from him and fell to the use of opium developing an addiction to the substance which saw her further estranged from her young son though they shared the same living space, at some point in his late teens she disappeared and her whereabouts remain unknown to Rémi, though he often tells people she's dead.

NPC Name: François Sèverin (Age: 33)

NPC Location: Port-a-Lucine

Description: Ten years ago, Constance and her family heard the gang François was part of had been wiped out entirely by bounty hunters. Since then, Constance has assumed her brother dead. They both came from what would be the closest to a middle class Port-a-Lucine has. François became part of a gang in the Quartier Ouvrier largely due to boredom, but became increasingly active in that gang as time went on. My concept for him for the present is that he escaped the bounty hunter assault, and seeing the chance, cut all ties with him family, letting them believe him dead in order to rise up further in the ranks of Port-a-Lucine's underworld.

Relation to PC: Sister (Age 18 (Three years younger)
NPC Location: Krofburg
Description: Serghei's only younger sister, out of the four sisters. The only one who treated Thorn like a brother,
 in the sense she would look to him for protection, and treat him with more respect than the other three.

NPC Name: Elizabeta Ureche
Relation to PC: Sister (Age 23 (Three years older)
NPC Location: Krofburg
Description: Married to her fathers bosses son. A stern sister, less than amused the majority of the time.
Elizabeta though a loving sister is the one who growing up gave Serghei the most hastle.

NPC Name: Clara Ureche
Relation to PC: Sister (Age 24 (Four years older)
NPC Location: Krofburg
Description: Clara was Serghei's closest friend within the family, always looking out for him as they grew up.
A classically beautiful woman she married early and is a mother of two. Married to another farmer in the
village against her own will originally, caused much ire between her and her brother.

NPC Name: Andreea Ureche
Relation to PC: Sister (Age 26 (Six years older)
NPC Location: Krofburg
Description: The eldest sister that never married, too head strong she works the farms alongside her father, putting in
more effort than is expected of her. A protector of all her siblings, especially her only little brother. Andreea is also
the only sister that knows Serghei's secret, that knows about his sorcery.

Description: Recovering from a serious ailment, Sofia tends to stay within the village confines. A loving mother and
the most heartbroken about Serghei's 'disappearance', when he left the village without a word but to one.

Description: Mostly a good man, if inknowingly too harsh on his son. Serghei feels rejected by his father, a
failure in his eyes.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words):  The merchant father of the nut that is Lucille, this man became unfaithful to his wife when word reached him that their daughter went missing on a trip out of Dementlieu.  He forced his wife from his home, where she now lives in the Savant.  Pepe lives within the Savant as well, albeit in a separate home.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words):  Forced from her home by her unfaithful husband, she has grown bitter from mourning and anger.  She currently resides in the Quartier Savant.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Ashamed of her only daughter being born a Caliban, Marie gave up her study of magic. She refused to acknowledge that she has a daughter anymore, wanting to forget her. Ever since Sybelle was born, Marie became distant from the rest of the family, frequently talking to herself.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Jaques is Sybelles father, a kind and caring man, the only thing that matters more to him than his farm is his family. Since word of their daughter sends his wife into a fit, he played along, pretending she didn't exist, but doing his best to care for his only daughter aswell. Even if his wife didn't love her, he did.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): Possibly the only one who would acknowledge Sybelle, Sebastien took after his father. He took care of his little sister as best as he could, sneaking left overs into the cellar, spending time with her to teach her to read and write. That was until his mother began to beat him everytime he would visit his little sister. Eventually he stopped entering the cellar, becoming bitter towards Sybelle, and his mother.

Location: Small farm in Ziedenburg, Barovia. Lives with his wife, his children having grown up and left home. He is a kind, helpful man but easily manipulated. He had an affair and child with another woman. The mother died in childbirth, leaving the daughter in his care.

Relation: (Step)Mother
Location: Living with her husband in Ziedenburg. She is a hard-working seamstress who did not wish to suffer the shame of her husbands tryst, so accepted the child born of it as her own to save face. She made no connection with the child, keeping the girl at arms length.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): A quiet, burly man, that looks much like his giant of a father, Petre is a silent, sullen man who is happy tending his family's potato farm and milking the Savu farm goats. Unmarried at the ripe age of 26, despite his impressive physique, he is both proud and ashamed of his father Barbat, for his courage to follow his heart when it comes to choosing the worship of the Morninglord and the fact that he has stained their family name with rough comments about the "Son of the Dawn cultist". He has recently taken to heavy drinking and secretly fancies one of the serving girls of the Blood of the Vine. He misses his recently deceased mother, Rumina, greatly.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): A loud-mouthed, sassy Barovian housewife. Velucia is short, muscular, and typically spends her time criticizing people. Nags Damien about being like his father.

Describe the NPC (less than 100 words): A quiet and dour Barovian elder. Geovi is skinny, a bit tall, and overly pale. Usually in the Market District, shopping for food and/or avoiding his wife. Usually tries to make idle conversation to pass the time.
