Ambassador: (noun)

A pity title, usually given to Pure Hearts and other Ezrite Wardens with more integrity than political aptitude.
“Moral wounds have this peculiarity - they may be hidden, but they never close; always painful, always ready to bleed when touched, they remain fresh and open in the heart.”
― Alexandre Dumas, The Count of Monte Cristo

The local leader of an Ezrite congregation, and therefore either the most politically capable, or a sucker set up for a fall.

Faith: (noun)

That desperate and sparse resource that the Church (amongst others) contrives to test in its followers through diverse ingenuous, cruel, hypocritical and devious means, by nature rather than by design.

Home Faith: noun

That original part of the Church that germinated in Borca, therefore earning the entirely justified reputation of being as poisonous and insidious as all other things that grow there. They espouse the virtue of Duty while transpiring to do as little as possible that does not benefit themselves.

Pure Hearts: noun

Useful naïves, to be expended whenever the Church must masquerade some grotesque pantomime of nobility, and then dispensed with. Mostly beneath notice, they find solace from their insignificance in the virtue of Compassion. (Yes, even Inquisitors publicly sneer at this hapless attempt at pathos.)

Erudites: noun

Perennial navel-gazers whose aloof detachment in the pursuit of Knowledge conceals a putrescent apathy and necrosis. Also mostly beneath notice.

Zealots: noun

A rapacious instrument of Zeal and fury wielded by hate-consumed mad men; a paradox of cynicism and faith; those who would burn the world to save it. Never turn your back on a Zealot.
“Moral wounds have this peculiarity - they may be hidden, but they never close; always painful, always ready to bleed when touched, they remain fresh and open in the heart.”

Free Will:

The peculiar philosophy that concludes that all monsters are so by choice; a persistent Pure Heart fallacy.
“Moral wounds have this peculiarity - they may be hidden, but they never close; always painful, always ready to bleed when touched, they remain fresh and open in the heart.”

Pre-destination:

The notion that salvation can be earned by immolating heathens; a common Zealot insanity.
