Experimental command "@seatme"
« on: October 21, 2012, 05:59:44 PM »
(I'm pretty sure a player suggested this somewhere, but can't find the post right now.)

This new command allows you to dynamically create a seat anywhere in the module and have your character seat it, effectively allowing you to run the being seated animation anywhere you want.

Obviously, this is open to abuse and immersion-breaking behaviour, which is why we have it implemented only as an experiment for now - but if we can all manage to exclusively use it where it's appropriate and won't look odd, it allows for sitting on most things in the module with the right height - like fallen logs, piles of bags or firewood, beds, etc. etc.

To use the command, simply stand right in front of what you want to sit on, facing directly toward it - and type out @seatme.

Please report back experiences and other feedback in this topic.

Thanks!

Hrm, it seems to me like there is no way to direct which way you'd be sitting, other than that I think it's a good idea, there are plenty of seats and such on the module without a mark to be able to sit on them.

This could be interesting! Do preset seating positions eat up server resources? 'cuz this could do wonders.

Tested it out. It's great! You can sit sideways in a chair, or sit in a stool facing whatever direction you want to face. Can sit on seatless logs, rocks, ect..

Great stuff Soren thanks!

You can direct your facing, simply put your back to the direction you want to be facing.  When you @seatme you will turn 180 and perform the seat animation

Oh, didn't have very much of a chance to test it becauase I was in a populated area while doing so, that's great, considering there are some places which force you to sit in the wrong direction (looking at you Vallaki Jail)

They often do, so yes, would be nice in that regard as well.

Can you add to the rest menu, that can be accessed by pressing R, something similar? An option that makes you sit like @seatme and also works like a resting section, though, for RP reasons, once the player choses to rest the dialogue box disappears, and the character "rests" (recovers hit points and spells) but still remains sitted wherever he is.

Tried it today. Loved it.

Great for sitting in those pesky drain chairs.  :D

I hope this command stays for good. Great work Soren.

This has been great so far. You can sit on palettes on various docks, the edge of beds, propped on massive toadstools and rocky outcroppings and my personal fave: dangling your legs off the side of 2nd story floors in Har Akir.

I haven't seen it exploited once so far... which is always good, although that may be just because only those that constantly snoop the forums know about it, and those that snoop the forums are generally very appreciative of staying immersed
