Throwing Weapons and Leathers
« on: August 06, 2012, 06:55:28 PM »
Darts, Throwing Axes, and Shurikens all are void from the crafting system, as well as Slings, Craftable Monk Gloves (Or more!) and Whips

Slings, Gloves/Gauntlets, and Whips Should be added too, I think.

I'm going to suggest this as a loose template for what I feel is balanced, just to have the idea fleshed out.

Darts/Shurikens can be a crafting template sold by the vendor.. Throwing Axes a "Throwing Axe Shaft" crafted by woodworking

Bronze Dart/Axe/Shuriken     1 Copper Ingot, Template      - Generic Copper Perks
Bronze Dart/Axe/Shuriken     1 Bronze Ingot, Template      - Generic Bronze Perks
Iron Dart/Axe/Shuriken     1 Iron Ingot, Template      - +1 Piercing
Steel Dart/Axe/Shuriken     1 Steel Ingot, Template      +2 Piercing Damage -% Weight
Silver Dart/Axe/Shuriken     1 Silver Ingot, Template      +1 vs Shapeshifter, +1d4 Piercing vs Shapeshifter

Leather Sling     2 "Easy" Leather Patches (Mink, Wolf, Deer..)      -
Heavy Leather Sling     2 "Medium" Leather Patches (Dire Wolf, Gargoyle, Crag Cat..)      +1 Mighty, Massive Critical 1
Leather Sling     2 "Hard" Leather (Scrag, Ebon Tiger, Dire Bear, Dire Crag)      +2 Mighty, Massive Critical 2

Unarmed Combat Gloves wouldn't be a bad idea either.. and maybe some to let you get some lesser skills (Influence, Appraise, Discipline?)

Make them and they will be used!
We need something for a throwing based char apart from varnishes :)

No, no they are not. I want +12 throwing daggers with a DC 400 fort save or die.

No need to make a special shaft for throwing axes, just have them use the existing "wooden shaft" that all the other weapons of that sort use.

Also, I'd throw weight reductions on every throwing weapon that's player crafted.  Copper, bronze and iron could be 80% and steel 60%.

As for the slings, I'd like to see more specialized ab's than just mighty and massive crit across the board.

Dire bear and dire crag could give +1 vs animal
Scrags could give +1 vs giant.
Gargoyle could give +1 vs monstrous humanoid
etc

Have all the better slings give bonuses against the type of creature they were made from.
