Vallaki - Warehouse District
« on: June 03, 2006, 07:08:05 AM »
Durring the night, just at the break of dawn, screams of bloody murder could be heard comming from one of the alleys in the warehouse district.

Bloodstains covered the sidewalk, yet there are no corpses or witnesses. The only mention of the disturbance was made from people hidden safely inside their homes who only heard the screaming.

Some paesants pinch their noses from the forgotten stench the stable had as effect in their everyday lives...while some rejoice, some cannot ignore the smell ...

coming of next dawn, peasents speak wildly in the streets about what happened last night.

many woke up for the terrible racket sounded near Murnu's shop. They claimed to see three people, one woman and two men, helping a man who had fallen to those gigantic wererats.

one of the men were literally glowing and he was shrouded in some black swirling material, he was fighting against the huge wererats with the woman while the other man drag the wounded man away. there were few bright flashes of light and the wererats were dead, they came in fast, and left even faster without causing any further commotion or damage

The night air is broken by the squeels of rats, followed by the distinct shriek of a single woman before the silence of the night resumes.

A short while later the rats sound up again, followed by the alarmed sounds of horses, and finally the sounds of flesh being torn from corpses.

Dawn comes, revealing the bones of a pony, picked clean in the yard, and a small trail of blood leading to aleksei's shop.

Word has been making the rounds of the warehouse district about the wandering dwarven smith, Toli, seeking to ply his steel goods and wares to both the local populace and the transient population of outlanders.  He has been seen to fulfill several orders for delicate as well as ponderous weapons and several sets of sturdy suits of steel armor.

Whispers abound among some of the guards near the south east gates. They speak of a group of people Ezrites from the looks of them walking out of the gate near night fall. One of the other of the group was a was the guard daeros and another a halfling wearing a kilt. As they group approached the gate a roar was heard up near mt ghakis the sound echoing all the way to the gate.

The group paused as they heard it but soon set out in that direction.

For more then almost two days their was no sign of the group then nearing evening they finally returned one of the ezrites carrying the body of a shievled man his clothes ripped and torn. Ice and snow hung amonst the group all seeing quite beaten, worn out, tired, and quite cold. They passed through the gates without a word and entered the Nobles district where they were seen entering the Ezrite catherdrel.

Talk spreads among certain people in the warehouse district of a young pale barovian man, clad in black who holds aloft the symbol of the morninglord. He does battle with the rats of the night with a cold determination and skill. There are also rumors his sword begins to glow at the height of battle, but these are usually scoffed at, simple ramblings of people who wish to make the story bigger then it is.

After hearing about his little sisters demise in the jaws of a wererat, the young Barovian, Cristian Florea got
into heavy drinking and was later found dead at the tanners shop, drowned into the tanning pool.

Locals shake their heads at the loss of an honest hardworking young man who wouldve made fine husband some day but continue their every day lives.

Late in the afternoon, guards arrested Ciprian Murnu, taking away most of his inventory in boxes towards the Citadel. Rumors that the Merchant was caught selling copies of Illegal Van Richten books are on everyone's lips.

The shop has been closed until further notice.

Despite the cold weather, Ciprian Murnu himself is seen taking personal interest in several wagons with the Thernadier & Co. engraving on them that were loaded into his warehouses with the coming dawn. Fellow merchants comment amongst themselves about what new deal brings the Richemulot merchant to Barovia ahead of schedule.

a tall Barovian man has been working the Forge day and night. committed to his craft, spending an unhealthy amount of time devoted to furthering his profession. Smoke rises from the Shop, a clear indication of its consistent recent use. As he hammers and shapes multiple weapons and armor, amber sparks illuminate the dim lit room. The burns and bruises on his hands and arms are a clear indication of the sweat and discipline he continues to Pour into his new found trade.

Each day he can be seen heading into the Southern Mountains with his Pack Ox, returning each evening with a large shipment of ore to work into the cold winter nights...

The body of  a Barovian peasant is found just outside the maintenance enterance to the Sewers. It has the look of absolute terror on his face with wide bulging eyes and gaping mouth open in a scream. The wounds seem shallow, as if done with a small blade, and while well placed, to the trained eye of a doctor or soldier, they themselves should not have been fatal. Yet the man is very dead and whatever kiled left the frozen visage of the horrible death upon the mans pale and haggard face.

The same body appears to have been spat on later, probably by some Gundarakite or even Barovian kids that passed.

As of late the Kelemvorite paladin Magdalena Frost has been seen spending much of her time in the Undertakers, offering last rites to the deceased that make their way to them, casualties of the horrors of the night.

At dawn, a crowd of peasants stopped to watch the execution of a wanted caliban criminal at the dias next to the leatherworking shop. This was quite clearly in response to the slanderous flyers left all over town accusing the Vardo of harboring caliban. The Vallaki Vardo branch captain, Vasco Silivasi, gave a speech making it very clear that the caliban was impersonating the Vallaki Vardo, and that the Vallaki Vardo would never hire a caliban. He then executed the caliban, and the Garda burned the corpse afterwards.

~The Festus horse breeding stables have recently suffered a terrible loss. Several Horses have been attacked in the dark of night and feasted upon by what could only be a pack of creatures. The Wounds are consistent with some large predator's malice and it's likely whatever fell creatures visited such harm on the docile equine inhabitants remain at large~

There was gossip about Natasha Orlov, hero of Vallaki, walking into the warehouse and taking two short swords out of storage.

"I had to confirm it was her to give her the weapons" Said the warehouse clerk. "She had one eye and the other covered with a patch, with some old burn scars on face, had to be her. She looked real serious, must have been through the 9 hells and back."

A middle aged woman in a black priestly robe has been seen in the drain.
Perhaps this new inhabitant of the drain is a healer of sorts.
The name "Guta" floats around as being hers.
