Edit: I rambled, Let me fix my thoughts.

Basically the idea I'm seeing here is that when you use a trap kit, you create a generic item at the source of a trap that can be recovered if the trap is used. You can use this salvaged remains and other ingredients to rebuild the trap. I'd consider adding this as a profession for just rogues and rangers, to give them a nifty little perk.

As for the generic item, It would be variabled and renamed depending on the trap used.. So..

Blobs could be acid varnish + resin, to make it stickier.

Sonic could just be magical essences?

Well, if Soren adds in gunpowder (black powder is probably a better name for the setting) you could always use that as the primary component for sonic traps. It's not ideal, but other than thunderstones, I can't think of anything else that's really fitting. An amount of gunpowder combined with paper and resin maybe? Technically modern fire-crackers use flash powder instead of gunpowder but total realism isn't possible in this game. The sound and animation of the sonic traps wouldn't really fit a gunpowder explosion but its effects would be similar.

If such a system where implimented, I'd agree with Rhymo to consider limiting it much as "Enchanting" is, something like 6 Rogue / 8 Ranger or something... give a perk to those whom put some focus in these seemingly lesser played classes (while not rewarding those with only a few levels in them).

Anyone with Set Trap can buy/set traps already,  reward those whom actually take the rogue / ranger levels to actually be one whom excels at it.

And they called me mad when I put points into set trap. They said I'd never use it.
I'll show them. I'll show them all.

Hahahaha... that would repel any creature with intact hearing and a sensible taste in music. What's the PotM equivalent of Justin Bieber?

Hmm, I can't really make up my mind about the black powder part - mainly because it feels a bit unorthodox compared to the classic portrayal of DnD traps. Alternatively, it could be using metal springs to generate motion.

Yeah it's a little tricky... do we have thunderstones in the game then? Other then those, it would have to be purely magical in nature because anything else that could generate sound of that magnitude likely wouldn't be easy to conceal, let alone carry around. Mind you, I could be wrong... but I'm thinking of something that causes a sound and then a large funnel-like contraption like you'd see on a gramophone. That's not exactly subtle.
