Vampires, turning to mist, & coffins
« on: April 28, 2012, 04:03:15 PM »
Some of this may already be in effect and i dont know it.

This is for NPCs as well as MPC vampires

What if when vampires are physically damaged to 0 HP they turn into a fast moving mist. They then have to go back to their coffin to regenerate?

While in this mist form they would be invulnerable.
This could lead to exciting tracking and chases

Perhaps also allow the MPCs to conduct some sort of dark ritual to make more coffins?

Something that would require a lot of rare things and would be clues alerting the player base (that know about such things) that this is underway

It allows the MPC a hard-earned reward- an additional coffin, plus it drives different sides into conflict and alliances.

Another idea is for vampires (NPCs as well as MPCs) to turn into rats

3 for very weak ones, 4 for moderate, 5, for strong, 10 for very strong.
The vampire/ player would be the lead rat and the others would follow.

overall HP would be divided up by # of rats
so 3- each would be 33%
4- 25%
5- 20%
10- 10%

Attacking the lead rat or one of the others would drop the PCs HP overall

don't know if its possible and don't know if it would be a lag drain. just an idea

The mist form on death is in effect for MPC vampires- and they have to return to their coffins to 'regenerate', hence how to permakill one of them.. Is kill they're coffin before they do.

do they teleport to their coffins? or you can see them move along on the board and can follow them?

The massive stealth bonuses to mist form make them incredibly hard to track.

well then when they are knocked to zero hp my suggestion is they are mist with no stealth capabilities

also for npc vampires .. so when you knock them down to zero you would then need to track them to a coffin and end them permanently like with a stake or fire

i never really liked when you stop them they fall where they are and thats it :P

that seems fitting for spawn but not fledglings or greater

That's already the case; and the stealth is because in canon, the mist can be almost invisible since it can turn into any shape and pass through any hole.

Oh, no, not anymore. Initially, the NPC vampires did return to their coffin in mist form, but it caused major lag and they would clog up hallways unfortunately. They would then reform and come back to attack, but it was more grievance than anything. It was eventually disabled.

Imagine 12 or more mists clouds of AI. Also, how would you stake one? I can seen NPCs doing that causing a lot of problems besides lag.

Which mist where you using, the laggy mist from the toolset? I once played a module that used PRC and there was a low level spell that turned the caster into fog or mist which wasnt laggy aat all, it was more like a smoke animation but when you moved it left a decent thin trail behind you, but Ive just installed the latest PRC into a module to track it down and its not there, so I wonder was it PRC and was removed or was it another custom spell :/
