Vampire domination
« on: March 12, 2012, 08:26:49 PM »
Since vampire domination is suppose to last a very long time, why not make a special feat just for vampires that gives them an extended Domination ability. I think this would fix alot of the issues. Since its suppose to last till dawn or untill broken by the vampire make it last alot longer and this way you dont have to mess with the spell duration.

You mean for use on NPCs or what?

No for the use of MPC, so they have a longer duration.

"for use -on- NPCs", because a longer duration on players can just be roleplayed.

I tend to RP out still being dominated until something actually happens to break it be it the vampire releasing it or dying, etc..., the actual duration is a joke from my experience.

For example a vampire dominates a weak minded individual the NWN rules makes it that the domination effect will last not even a minute, not enough time to properly RP any actions, where as in Canon, and if you spam the domination gaze button (which we do not do) you will get dominated by the vampire for a long time, this normally happens until the dawn when the vampire rests thus breaking the domination, or of course the vampire intentionally drops the domination for example when about to feed to feel the fear also or distance / outside factors like priest spells...

With the NWN engine set as it is the domination is so short a single command is not even possible somtimes when in full RP... i think due to the non-party rules this is an impossibility to have but it is a nice thought.

For myself it would save the discussion in tells during the scene as to as and when domination can drop... (Go into the inn and remove all the garlic, or ask me to enter this building, these are all classic actions done under domination, but if you go by time period of spell a person wont even get past the first command).

I heard someone talk about a bug where dominating a player character can result in corruption of character files if the server crashes, so I'd really rather if it's not extended.

Why can't people just agree in tells about the domination beforehand? We just had a big thread about this.

well if you put a feat in it resolves all arguments in tells and you dont need tells other then a MPC saying dominate coming. Secound not heard about the whole corrupt issue, can a DM, Dev or anyone confirm this?

Dominating a player results in a daze, why would an extended daze help any RP?

well if you put a feat in it resolves all arguments in tells
Yeeeahno, not really.

Oh, just something saying "You're dominated.", I thought you meant the actual dominate effect. Several mins of Daze would piss people off.

I guess a sort of dominate timer or whatever would be nice, but it seems more like a script thing than a feat imho.
