Divine Favor change
« on: February 21, 2012, 04:33:01 AM »
*Puts on protective gear*

There is no way of arguing around this - we are going to nerf a spell - divine favor.

The change is done mainly because the spell has proven excessively powerful at higher levels, allowing +5 attack bonus at level 15 that allows penetrating more or less all DR, while only being a level 1 spell.

What we will do is change the spell to cap at +3. This is what was done in WotC's own update to the 3.5 rules, which confirms the conception that the spell is too powerful for it's level.

Sorry for all the negative feelings this may invoke.

I could just run into the room and punch you in the balls; sure, that's scary. That's entertainment. But it isn't horror...

Wooooooooohooooooooooo!

Two things I love in this: It only affects mid to high levels, so no one can say that early levels were made harder.

And for the other thing, it affects both of the most solo able classes we have: Cleric and Paladin. My paladin just lost 2 damage and 2 AB for big fights, but it's totally worth it.

I'll see your excellent & Woohoo! & raise you a Hell yeah!

Still a very power tool in the cleric's arsenal of spells.

Nice. Out of curiosity, has the damage type been changed from magical to physical (which would also be in line with the p&p version)?

Awww. And I was rocking my +4 DF. :(

But in fairness, I see where this is coming from.

It wont affect me for another level or two, but I'm fine with it.  Its still a good spell to use even if nerfed to +3 imo.

Well as much as I hate mechanics changes, at least this one does not derail any themes I was trying to set up.

And for once it's not a non combat utility spell like Trueseeing or Knock!

Ouch :(

Oh, well, its been long overdue.
I wanted this done instead of Vestment progressing slower, and now we have both. Clerics will soon be pretty average at fighting, good thing I am a skilled enough to overcome it.

Lucky me i have a backup plan, guessing after Mage class now slowly turn to Cleric, but what is spell progression ? +1 every 5 level to max level 15 ? at +3 ?
