Bowstring, Bow

Is there anyway you can make the "bow" emote animation not apply to bowstring?

It's one of those "what the..." moments when you emote anything with the word "bow" in it.

I don't know maybe these animation emotes should be put in quotation marks or something so you don't get your characters doing silly animations when the alternative meaning of the word is used. Either that or start using two * symbols instead of the two [ ] symbols to encase your emotes when you don't want any animation to occur.

Don't think Bowstring is that frequently used in emotes that this is a huge problem ;)

Also I believe the correct spelling is bow string, maybe that doesn't trigger the emote?

It does, heck I've done [strings her Bow] and then promptly bows to who ever :P

I could be wrong but I think the emote system, far as I can tell anyway checks for the letter order string. For instance when ever "b o w" is detected and in that order will perform the emote regardless if there are words or letters before or after it. You can stick an extra letter or word in it though and not have the emote activate as [Crosses her arms] doesn't work but plain [crosses arms] does ;)

Rather than having to change a whole script it is possible to fix this problem on your own if it is a large bother to you. If you change the way you denote emotes to *this* or ::this:: or something else you can think of then the action will not activate. What I do is use the ** and then when I want something to happen I add the [] inside of the emote:

*looks around for a moment and then [sits] down in the grass*

This solved the problem for me, I hope it can help.

Carmilla Lazarovici - slightly self loathing scholar of history
Suzette Lachance - full of whiskey and ready to shoot her bow

Yes, that's how i avoid such situations as well.
'Ever tried to emote how your character [slips a coin in his purse]? Every time i see someone typing that is like watching "dinner for one".

Almost every wedding any of my characters have been to on POTM, the groom goes [slips the ring on the bride's finger] and falls down. It's hilarious and never gets old!

Oh I'm just now returning to this, I was using the word Bowstring to try to avoid the emote I just think that the script should look for just the word "Bow" and if there are extra articles then it shouldn't do the emote

Although I do agree that I should just use another symbol when emoting
