Suggestion: Forum section, Player written guides.
« on: February 10, 2012, 03:12:36 PM »
Just an idea, i've seen lots of guides written hat get lost in the shuffle and figured if they had their own dedicated section they'd be easier to review and people would have more incentive to put up or create guides relative to different aspects of roleplaying.

Just an idea, but i'd like being able to find guides with more ease personally.

Especially for new players trying to pick up crafts, had to ask someone and as a new player that can be intimidating. I agree that this should be implemented.

There should be no guides. The fun is in exploring and discovering everything. Guides are just spoilers! A guide is good for what? How to level up fast? How to get rich? The powerful build? Munchkin's guide? The only guides that I find useful are the ones covering RP suggestions, IMO.

The Society of Erudites welcomes manuals. One may approach some PC or NPCs dealing with the faction, it can be a good RP. So not just forum, but also in-game dynamics.

I like and support this idea.

I think a Child Board beneath Roleplay Resources would be easy to implement.

i think some of you are missing the point of this post. 90% of the guides on here are things that would fit brilliantly into the roleplay resources section. not crafting guides beyond the pure mechanical of things like 'arrows don't need feathers to make' (which i think would be usefull as I've had to tell more than one person what tool to use on what item).

guides like:
  • Background on X race
  • Background on X location
  • Psychological information on X situation

at which point doing IG guides (which TBH even I have no idea how to access asides from becoming a society member so we certainly cant expect new players to know that) for things like society of erudites is redundant.

but yeah +1 specific forum would probably encourage more people to write up guides.

But as a specific topic perhaps guides should need to be read over by a DM/DEV/MOD/CC before being posted to make sure their relevent and don't go too far into things they shouldn't though.

Doing something to have something available in game myself.
