Does size modifier count toward Hide rolls
« on: January 14, 2012, 12:58:43 AM »
The size modifier is supposed to count toward the hide skill in DND.
I am quite sure it is not occurring currently.
It won't come up much because most PCs are medium therefore don't have a bonus or negative to it.

I have just wondered if some of the familiars that are tiny or diminutive had this taken into about in NWN, or whether you had to add a feat to every creature to account for this. I searched for my own answer on the web, but no luck. Anyone know? If a pixie is trying to be hidden for RP purposes I am quite sure the hide rolls are not taking the size into consideration, an example.
I survived the Blue Water Inn Massacre and all I got was this t-shirt.

I think it hasn't been taken into account and is instead represented by bonuses to Skills.
“Moral wounds have this peculiarity - they may be hidden, but they never close; always painful, always ready to bleed when touched, they remain fresh and open in the heart.”

wouldnt it just be a matter of comparing a halfling to a human ?

It wouldn't because halflings have this feat:

+4 size bonus to standard stealth and detection checks (modifies hide, listen, move silently, and spot

Which I think is to mimic,  which means it would have to be added similarly to other things.  Which would be a mess, its a shame its not part of core rules of the NWN engine.

Well that feat doesn't really do anything, it just tells you what small creatures do.
It's the Size modifier.

A runted Caliban will get the same benefits as a small creature.
It won't show you the bonuses you get on your card through.
But you get'm, trust me! Look at your AB rolls next time and you'll have an extra AB from being small.

All size modifiers such as AC and Hide are dealt with behind the scenes (though as Bato suggested you'll see the AC/AB changes in your combat log) and are reliant on whatever model is being used by the PC (or NPC). The size-based feat halflings and gnomes get is actually just a description, it doesn't offer anything in itself.
