What if a character is trying really hard to maintain a different reputation in different areas or with different player groups? If players can see other peoples OCR, isn't that going to help metagame a little bit? It could change someone's reaction to a perfectly well played, disguised and acting, high ocr character, that no-one knows what class or level they are, into "OMG ur ocr = ova 9000! U R EBOL MONSTER. KILL!"

There in lays the problem, I could murder a Garda in Kroffburg wearing a chicken suit and everyone in Barovia would know who had done it. NPC metagaming.

Outcast rating can be determined by a lot of things, but it's primarily based on how your character looks and acts.

In Barovia, magic-using characters will have a higher outcast rating
In Dementlieu, characters who wear heavy armor will have a higher outcast rating
In Hazlan, a character who openly worships a deity other than Bane the Lawgiver will have a higher outcast rating
In Sithicus, a character that is not elven will have a higher outcast rating
and so on

Not to mention in Hazlan if you're not a human there is a big, big problem as well. And you still get OCR if you're not Mulani ethnic group. Rashemi can have a higher OCR than non-mulani humans from outside hazlan in certain cases. lol. Bunches of factors in certain domains.

OCR in Dementlieu should keep people out of the 'nobles' areas. Poor/ugly/miscreants should be kept in the ghettos.


Are we going to get any sort of system for the domains we can visit, so we can have characters from there that get bonuses to their OCR for being there? Like having Barovian, Gundarakite, Thaani in Barovia. Rashemi, Mulani in Hazlan, etc etc etc.

Maybe even give some bonuses for being native demi-humans, where you have 1-2 points better OCR than an outlander one because you'd have knowledge of the land and customs?
