The musty, aged leather of this worn book at first glance looks rather plain and insignificant aside from a single chipped, gold line neatly painted around border. Seared into the center of the small brown leather cover of the journal is the blackened phrase "Darkest Dreams" beautifully scribed in Abyssal. The soft leather barely holds its form, and loose singed pages poke out around the golden edge. The outside of the book has scars as well suggesting its own perilous journeys, and a separate less worn black leather strap is securely fastened around it like a bandage protecting an open wound. As the book opens, an aged scent of stale opium smoke and stench of decay leaks from in between the pages. Crude and grotesque paintings framed in liquified drow's skin are randomly slipped between the belonging blood drunk parchment, all subtly signed with a lonesome symbol of the undead suggesting the same demented artist. Similar cruel and vivid drawings litter the pages of the journal, giving further animation to the horrific nightmares within. The whimsical, childlike pen strokes seem to be tainted on select pieces of parchment and radiate a cold, unnerving energy as if the dark magic flowing in the veins of the writer seeped it's way to the page, trapped forever in the ink.
