Another stupid question-About crafting rolls
« on: December 02, 2011, 02:54:32 PM »
Hello all. I am just asking where I can find the explanation for what all the numbers in the crafting rolls represent.  Thank you.  Have a good day!

Most crafting rolls are based on ability scores. In the case of Alchemy, this is your Constitution and your Intelligence. I don't know what the others are based off of, off-hand. If you see a -5, that means it's a recipe you don't know yet. Once you do know the recipe (have succeeded at making whatever it is your crafting), the -5 goes away. The last number is crafting level for that particular trade.

So, if I was a wizard who had 12 CON and 18 INT trying out a new recipe for the first time, I would have something like X + (4+1-5+Y), where X equals my roll and Y equals my crafting level in alchemy.

if you see a -5 it means you have not learned the recipe yet. (you will after 1 succes then it turns to 0)

the last one is your level in crafting.

and the first one is your ability    like when you smith  your strength comes into play and that can be a +2    other crafts other ability points.

craft item XX
roll
3 -5 5        means 3 points for your ability score    -5 cause you dont know the recipe yet  and 5 for the level you are in that craft.
