« on: November 23, 2011, 09:10:35 PM »
Atari is selling every published game and module of the Neverwinter Nights series (1 and 2) for $29.99 now. The collection is appropriately dubbed "Neverwinter Nights Complete."

Which is coool! And thus persi-servers should as well launch a marketing program around the same time, so folks realize NWN lives!  :)

NWN Complete? They mean Complete Rubbish.

Half of the collection is junk (the mentioned half being the sequel, NWN2) and I like how they included the "Kingsmaker" which isn't even an expansion but actually a module that I never heard of till now since I don't pay for modules, it's like paying to play a server with custom haks in it.

Why do they include one of the premium modules and not the other two anyway? They would be better off including CEP on a CD than "Kingsmaker" because CEP is actually USEFUL and is required to play nearly every server these days, not easy to know if you're a new player.

i agree with dutchy for a change, this is a good thing! it will bring people into the community. though I do dislike their price, considering it is about $10 on gog.com, of course it took me a while to get my unique multiplayer cd key, hopefully this box set does have unique online cd keys.

I am doubtful they optimised the game for contemporary operating systems. The package is worthwhile if it works.

so the game box is 30 yes?

current disc alone costs ??  6?   all 3?  if so thats 18

now downloading packs or extra content   0  BUT your internet connection costs???

compared i dont think its that much.

I couldn't even properly play Mask of the Betrayer.  Damn thing has cut scenes that sped by so fast you didn't have a chance to read more than a few words before the next scene came on.  So I never looked for any other expansions, like Mystery at WestGate.   :?  I enjoyed NWN2, but it was buggy.  Very buggy.

Yeah I think it's a bit much, even when I got this game like five years ago it was $8 total for the base game and both expansions.
But whoever wants to buy it, sure that's all fine. But if I'ma refer someone to the game I would send them towards Good Ol' Games.

I saw a copy of this today, got to open and see the contents.

- It has unique CD Key for all thee parts of both games.
- An actually pretty decent map for Forgotten Realms' Savage Frontier/North Sword Coast
- The whole of the two games comes on 2 DVDs, not sure how installation goes.
- It includes Mysteries of Westgate for NWN2, which is really a quite well made story and is sort of a nice bonus in addition to the 3 official expansions of NWN2.

Weird that they included Kingmaker like in the Diamond Collection. That was one of the worse modules. Pirates of the Sword Coast and Wyvern Crown of Cormyr were far better. Sounds like a trick to make at least some money before xmas out of the very bad NWN2 and bad extra modules like Kingmaker.

Platinum Collection (NWN1, SOU, HOU) is the one one might wanna go for.

The installation is probably on DVD, strait of. No Steam, Origins or GoG engines to install.

Also, NWN2 is underrated and on par if not better then the shitty Dragon Age 2. Shame on you Macabre for calling NWN2 very bad! Shame on you!

I kind of liked Kingmaker.  It was fairly short, had some good fights.  I liked the character interactions.  Kind of forgotten a lot of the details, though.

"After ShaDoOoW's patient assistance, we have determined that the (English) edition of NWN, packaged with NWN2 as NEVERWINTER NIGHTS COMPLETE, does NOT include the latest official version of the game (1.69) in the installation. It currently retails for $29.99 in the US. A picture of the edition in question can be found here:
http://www.wackychaco.com/shane/pics/nwncomplete.jpg

This is significant because after you install the game, the launcher and the updater both say 1.69. Even worse, if you try to update the game, it will not only tell you that the game is up to date, but will also try to get you to install an add-on for Mass Effect and Sonic Chronicles. Below is a link to a set of "Critical Rebuild Patches" that you can use to rectify this problem.

The following is a list of ways to verify that you have 1.69 installed:

1. Check the toolset (second down on the launcher) and see if you have access to the following tilesets:

--Barrows
--City Interior 2
--Fort Interior
--Castle Exterior, Rural
If they're missing, it's likely that you are using an out of date version of the game.

2. Go to your NWN installation folder and open the "data" folder. Once there, find the file "xp2patch.bif" and check it's size. Installing the game from the "Complete" package results in a file size of 124MB. A 1.69 updated (English) version of this file is a whopping 351MB - a difference of about 225MB.

Considering the enormous difference in sizes for the 2 versions of "xp2patch.bif", I think it's safe to say there is likely a considerable amount of other game pieces that are missing. At the link below, you can find the "Critical Rebuild Patches." I strongly recommend you make use of them before playing the game using the "Complete" edition. Specifically, you'll want the one labeled "NWN + SoU + HotU" if you installed the 2 expansion packs.

http://www.neverwinternights.info/players.htm#critpatch

I hope this information helps anyone having strange issues while using this edition of the game."
