More or upgrade dungeons
« on: November 07, 2011, 07:52:52 PM »
With nerfing of dungeons, we need dungeons that satisfy high level as well. Currently everyone is hitting same spot same dungeon for XP and it get rather tired it become compete whom get to it first. High level need XP TOO !!! Barovia is full of dungeons, is time for other domain to get more.

Define: high level.

Currently sitting around lvl 11, I haven't seen / haven't dare to enter half of the PoTm dungeons., if not more. Even with a good party I had the courage so far to visit the following (mind me, some is already too low level and i am not visiting it):

1. caves along the lake zarovich (2 )
2. fire beetle hive
3. caves along the western svalich road (3)
4. sullen woods (if not ogres or vampires)
5. ML crypt
6. Zeklos crypt
7. southern forest terg ruin
8. southern forest monastery
9. sewers, were-rat hideout
10. under the market district, tunnel system
11. treant grove
12. Village mausoleum
13. [gasps] were-fox grove
14. Dvergheim mines, 1st level
15. hobgoblin tin mines
16. bandit crypts.

hrm.... it's actually not that few,,,but meh, some of these really need a good party. And never dared to solo the mid-lvl dungeons. Not sure, so what you mean under high lvl dunegons and how many are there actually, but pls keep in mind that not everyone can solo dungeons, and those who can will get an extreme advantage over the others.  If dungeons would be upgraded, I'd kindly ask to make them more deadly against certain solo-like classes. For instance: some monster that feeds purely on monk-essence?

Yes Barovia have lots of dungeons, but most are for low levels, my definition of high level is 16 to 20 if you don't have one you don't know what am talking about, dont have to make new dungeons but incress the difficulty on some of these dungeons including XP wise i dont understand why nerfing Jezra and Zalaph but do not have alternative to fill the hole for balance sake. Even Perfidus yield no XP for level 17 and up except bosses.
.. and this is not a thread to bash a class make new one if you need to.

There is a bit of a lack of things that take the old shadow caves and old Jezra's place and old Alhoon's place . There is really no reason whatsoever to go to any of those places unless you're lower level.  BUT on the flip side, there is much more likely chance to find a dungeon if you have a lower level, which is certainly a good thing.

Well winter those are all mostly Low level dungeons. What Mayvind is looking for, are things like Forest Fane [Darklings near Barovia] Mountain Fane [Chenvog and his demons], Tomb of Sobek/Hotep, the older version of Elketh's Tower[I mean not the last one, but the oe before with teleports], and Alhoon's lair [before it was rebalanced for lower level] same with Coal Mines. Namely things between the difficulty of Perfidious, which needs a well functioning team, and the low level dungeons.

i thought they are purposely moving those type of hard dungeons out of Barovia on purpose to split up the high level characters?

personally i still remain convinced that a hard cap at 15 is the way to go then just evenly scale the larger dunegons from there, allow starting characters to start in other domains and have dungeons scale out from hub areas suited to them as we have in valiki.

yes he should be capped at 5

and other parts of the core could get a high lvl place  or just 1-3 in barovia   barovia isnt a tiny area like bleustein so theres plenty of space or options for some of it.

I'm beating a dead horse here but I still think that spawn rates should be increased. I havn't seen a decent spawn level in a dungeon for over a year.

Edit: I'm exaggerating, but it's still incredibly rare to find a dungeon worth bothering with.

that and more mid-high level dungeons would solve alot of the issues with bored, attention starved players

Personally, I find that most mid-high level dungeons are often just too small to really satisfy anyone, or so long and tedious they're boring. Pretty much every one I know of is either a fifteen minute mow through the mobs or a several hour long dungeon crawl.

Which basically comes down to, most people opt for taking out several short dungeons and thus leveling half the mid-level areas in a single sweep. This pretty much leaves people to take on the long dungeons they don't want to do for xp, or just abandon their attempts and do something else (like play Skyrim).

I think that Bleak House would make for a particularly awesome pocket-domain, if done correctly. Madame Corvara McStupidface would make for a nice boss battle, and and there can be mini-bosses as well in the form of Erasmus van Richten.

Hazlan, was never finished, and the version ingame is a DM only area.

But it does sound like you mean Har'Akir, the desert domain
