you convince a DM it is a special pet rock and ask them to rename it.  A few months later you pass it off to someone else as some special cursed item you found in a DM event and watch that piece of quartz gain a thousand times more attention than any other before it.

you hope, and if you are lucky....than get something super for yourself(not even needing a dm:P)....I wish the village had some quartz crystals somewhere as well, where you could find quartz to ...:)
