The [grins] emote
« on: May 18, 2011, 11:22:21 PM »
Very minor issue, but it's always been a little odd when I type [grins] and my character does the animation as if he were laughing.  Any chance on removing that action with the emote?  Not sure if this is a quick fix or not, but just wanted to throw it out there.

[slips] should be removed as well. <_< I've seen more people use it when removing items than actually 'falling' <_<

I feel a [grin] is one of the most essential expressions.  Having it make a character laugh for several seconds makes me stop using it.  Please do remove the animation from this, [chuckles] and [laughs] are great for when I want my character to actually laugh!

That's why I (and probably others) use other symbols for describing emotes. I use asterisks and put brackets around active emotes I want to see be activated.

Such as *grins wildly* (which won't fire off the laughing thing) or *leans against the pillar and [crosses arms]*. Accidently firing off an emote you aren't expecting is always off-putting. Slips is always kinda funny though...

I love the sound of the [slips] emote when you're possessing a flying monster or animal, try!

It should be a quick fix, yes. I'll toss it in my list of updates to the emote system.

I've removed the grin emote. It was only there because of grin in Danish has connotations more similar to laughing than I think it has in English.

That makes a lot of sense.  Learn something new every day.

[Slips] is amazing! I love slipping a ring off my avatars finger and having her fall on her butt. So much humour for the people around me.

I would like [slips] to stay in. I think [falls] puts you on your face, while [slips] puts you on your back. Just stop using the brackets for enclosing your entire emote.
