I really would like to play Ravenloft...

But I can't figure out how to log in- I keep getting the "missing ravenloft.tlk" message.

I have no idea if I have the right CEP at the moment- in my folder I have a cep updater but if I click it it says I have to go through the NWN directory- what is that?

I tried to download the new CEP 2.whatever from the vault but its a zip file and now I'm struggling with this 7zip to unzip the new cep downloaded... do I even need to do this if all I am missing is the ravenloft.tlk?

Sorry I've been at this for two hours- I'm tired- had really been stoked to try a new server but looks like I'm going to have to give up for the night....

if you downloaded the ravenloft files, check in your hak folder and if you see any tlk files, you should move them to the tlk folder [if you dont have a tlk folder you might need to make one]

How do I download the RL files?
Where are my haks files located on my computer? All I have are CEP files. I search for "hak" through my comp search engine- there is nothing on my computer like that
No tlk folder/files either- if I made one where would I put it?

I can play a few servers so I know that my CEP works but anything that needs "specific haks" I don't have I guess

Ok I did it! Phew!

But now I am getting the "missing cep2_top_23... something" message so i'm guessing i need more

Can't I just use the cep updater? I have like three floating around but when I click them adobe reader pops up and says the file cannot be read for this reason or that. Adobe reader shouldnt even be popping up if I'm right

sounds like something is wrong with your CEP files, try downloading a manual installer

Each one goes in their own specific folder:  Haks to haks, mods to mods, etc. 

If memory serves, when you download the CEP, you will see folders.  You will have to open up those folders and put those files contained in the folder in the correct NWN folder. 

BTW, you may have to create a "tlk" folder in your NWN section and put the "tlk" file in there. 

Good luck.  If it's any consolation, a lot of people have had the same problems you're having.  Just hang in there.

for older ones yes but i have yet to see an auto installer for the latest 2.3+ versions pity too as those were so nice and easy for installing

also the update was a nice addition

Not to confuse the issue, but as of March 14 2011, there is also a CEP 2.4
