Ravenloft - Prisoners of the Mists - 5-year anniversary this Halloween!

Halloween is drawing near - and what better place to spend it than in the very land horror calls it's own?

To celebrate our five year anniversary as a public server, we at Ravenloft - Prisoners of the Mist invite all roleplayers to take part in a serverwide Play-A-New-Character-Week event, running from October 25th to 31st (Halloween). During the event, only new characters will be let into the core areas*, allowing us to bring back some reminiscence of our founding days when the world was brave new to all. It will be a unique occasion to experience loads of enthralling gothic horror roleplay in a perfect setup - all being on level terms, the imposing dangers of the world seeming equally daunting to all, he fear of the unknown more genuine than ever. And while it occurs, plenty of new alliances and friendships will be formed, making it an even more ideal occasion to visit the mists if you are new or have been out for a while.

Expect a lot of DM events and special occurrences to appear in game during the week, but we also invite you to come by our forums and join up in pre-planning things with other players to run your own initiatives.

* (In this context, new characters imply having been created within the period of the event. Core areas are all west of the Svalich Pass near Castle Ravenloft.)

Useful info, hints and tips for the event:

- You can create your character pre-event and still use it for the event, as long as the character hasn't passed through the intro-cutscene. All other characters will however not be able to access the zone of the event for the duration of the week.

- If you've created a character before the event that you've scarcely used andl want to utilize it for the event, we recommend that you simple recreate that character.

- Remember that while finding people to revive a friend or the sufficient gold to have an NPC do it will be hard during the event, the XP loss of using the shaft of light in the Near Ethereal to restore you to life is very small at lower levels.

- For the duration of the event, Daniela's Weapon Shop in the market district has a few silver weapons in stock. They might be expensive, but can make all the difference when fighting creatures of the night.

Our Play-A-New-Character week event has now begun, and we hope that as many as possible will decide to take part in it and contribute to it being a success.

Without question, braving the world with your life in hold during this week will be harder than usual, but keep in mind that you have the option to respawn if all else fails - the XP hit at low levels will be minimal.

On the other hand, we also encourage that you use this opportunity to form new alliances and friendships - for your survival and for the benefit of the roleplay.

Keep in mind that this server is about gothic horror roleplay. This week will hopefully bring it to you in abundance but please help us preserve that atmosphere in your roleplay, and take your part in building it.

And lastly, thank you for choosing to be a part of this community and server and making it a success - without you, we wouldn't have lasted five years.
