Perhaps it's something to do with restricting nwn to single core that might help, there is a command line you can modify in your .ini file but I cannot recall.

I've a quad core with WIn7 too... I must admit NWN ran better with my dual core and XP...

I -think- it may be a matter of RAM, since Win7 uses more of it and it could lessen the overall speed, graphic card included. Have you same issues with other games too or just NWN?

It's likely a video driver issue.  The newer drivers often give older games fits, like NWN.  I myself play on Win7 64 bit, but I do not update my Nvidia driver from the one I found most compatible through trial and error.  That driver being over a year old now.

Think you're right. I too noticed a quality decline when switching over to Win7, quad core too.

The gigantic memory usage of Windows 7 is a myth really - it's just better to utilize the memory not used elsewhere. I doubt most would notice a difference between 2 gb and 4, unless running the most recent games, and then only slightly.

That aside, try to open your nwnplayer.ini and make sure it has the line "Client CPU Affinity=1" under "[Game Options]".
