Arcane Archer "Imbue Arrow" Ability Change Proposal

First, there's nothing systematically "wrong" about this ability, so this isn't a bug report.

What it does:  Allows the Arcane Archer to fire a single arrow at a target (creature, player, door, headstone, herb, anything highlightable).  It will then explode for fireball damage with a DC that scales with AA level.  Use: 3/day.

What I propose changes:  Allow the ability to also target open space, much like the actual fireball spell.  It's relatively difficult to make use of this ability aside from the initial "pull" of a group of mobs, due to friendly fire.  I've more often been making use of doors or random herbs as an anchor for the fireball spell.

That's pretty much it.  Weigh in whether you agree or disagree ;)

I really wish it would work as the PnP version, where it allows you too cast a ranged spell through an arrow....


But yes, it makes sense that you could shoot it at none targets

Hell yeah, please. That's simply dumb I can't shoot an arrow on the ground.

it wont be changed any time soon, it affects a very small population, and is far from a necessary change

Also, I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it would require a hak since it would need the client altered.

Yes... and you always can try a level 2 of rogue to take the evasion feat.

I spoke with someone who did some scripting(Not RL), and he says he believes all you'd need to do is change a variable for targeting (much like RL has done with potions, for example).

It's great for the initial pull, don't get me wrong.  I was just wondering if this change had the possibility of being in the scope of things to change.  It'd open up more uses for the ability.  An AOE ability that's targettable only on interactable objects, mainly NPCs, limits its practical use aside from the opening pull.

But, as I said, it's not broken, and just wanted to see what others thought :)
