Leatherwork
« on: May 15, 2010, 03:02:58 PM »
Any chance we could gain the ability to craft cloaks, gloves, and boots?

It would be awesome to be able to make bearskin cloaks or gargoyle skin gloves.

Also would be nice to have more skin types.  Perhaps zombie, wight, or even werewolf or vampire skin.

It would really add to the craft.

Agreeing with this. Also to get a variety of leathers people use. I mean in my opinion at the end people use mostly sturdy-patched ones with either fortitude, negative energy or hide bonus. Maybe something different could be thought, according to different materials.

Plus, it's some time I haven't crafted leathers since I've reached a good level, no one asks me for them, so simply stopped. This is why I don't remember actually the kind of skins, but I could not help noticing there are some leathers which, combined, give a final result which is basically the same, but the DC varies consistently. And maybe I'm the only one pondering about this: bodaks are very high DC but the result is NOT that useful...

Yes please.
Three kinds of armor are nice, but boots, gloves and cloaks would add some much-needed variety to the craft.

Then basic stealth boots might not be such a hot item!  Sounds good.

Struggling with leatherworking... I cure all my hides, boil etc... then assemble it all and craft and this is what it reads....

Quote
Lost Item: Pattern for Leather Armor
Lost Item: Leather Patch
Lost Item: Leather Patch
Lost Item: Boiled Leather Patch
Lost Item: Boiled Leather Patch
Lost Item: Boiled Leather Patch
Lost Item: Boiled Leather Patch
..... uses item's special power.
Crafting initiating
Crafting check (DC17) - Roll:25 (20 + (1+0+3+1)) - *success*
Crafting experience gained.
Crafting completed.

Now, call my crazy... this would lead me to believe I successfully crafted leather armor.  Then... where is it? Cause it's not on the table or in my inventory.....

I know it may sound offensive but sometimes it's just a matter of distraction. It happens that the final object goes in some further page of the table inventory. Might have been there. After a while it's not used, though, it disappears so no point at rechecking after a while, just check as soon as you made a successful attempt.

8 hours later was still there.  Another question... does this system at all take advantage of the 'craft armor' skill points you can alot?

You earn levels in craft just by crafting... craft weapon or armour are not put in any count.

Thanks, we were running all over the server trying to find it, but didn't think to check there.  We thought it might be devils in Perfidous or something.  If you add more in the future, demons, yetis, or zombie skin would be cool.

So has anyone found anything else to make besides armors? Just curious.

There's a branch of items with a description saying it is usefull for embedding in armour, helmets and shields. Well, from what the description of the end result of armour made with it says, it seems to be the same as the one mentioned in the spoiler earlier.

Armour: found out, works. But i wonder if there's a difference between the lesser and greater type for metal armour. Maybe the difference is again relevant only for leather armour?
Shield: found out, works. Sidenote: Transfering shields from smithing to woodworking makes sense. Interesting that the shield-recipe is still known
Helmet: Seriously - is such a recipe really implemented yet? Whatever i heap on the anvil - sooner or later the result is always the basic metal helmet. Or did you implement one template to be useable with different crafts, depending on the used basic material? That would be quite innovative, but quite unfair for finding out, since it abandons the rules of the known systems.
Currently playing:
no characters, will eventually be back

Characters in stock:
- Darian Eisenhand        - Ansgar "Frettchen" Ostvent
- Thorben Eibenfinder    - Einar Falkensang

If you make it into backing for armor it adds +1 to antagonize. I was hoping for something more but that's what it does.

Hah, yeah, I'll admit I was a bit unfair there. But yes, there are a few unique helmets you can make by leatherworking.
