Reminder about multiple alts
« on: October 18, 2009, 07:39:17 PM »
There's been some concerns lately in the way some players have shared stories between their alternative characters; directly or indirectly cooperating in achieving common goals with said alternative characters.

For example, Steve the player has two characters, Bob the fighter and Joe the cleric. As Bob, Steve discovers a plot against Joe's church. He has Bob tell a character Joe knows about it and has them pass the information on to Joe. Steve then logs in as Joe and goes straight to this other PC to get the information to save his church that Bob had learned.

Needless to say, these practices are frowned upon and against the rules, falling under "Tag Teaming":

Quote
-If you have more than one character on the server, remember they are two different people. Don't let what occurs to and involves the one character transfer to the other.

If you have more than one character active in the world, please do not get them involved in the same storylines, there's always ways to avoid this; if you are in a faction or need a factionized character, choose a character which the player isn't already involved with you on the same plot line with another character.

To sum up: If you as a player have more than one character, do not get involved or affect in any way, the flow of a story with alternative characters, or cooperate with them directly or indirectly.

I'm bumping this. Seriously, don't do this. Don't have your friends make a character that's one of your alts' friends/family just so you can overlap the stories of your characters, either.

I'm going to bump this.

Everyone, while it is difficult, given the small size of the server, please try to avoid story-crossing in this manner. I've been seeing it happen a lot recently. Try to keep your alts in different social circles; this lowers the risk of a conflict of interest.

On a similar note, do not give out items or other rewards based on OOC friendships or relationships with other characters played by the same player. This should go without saying (it's in the rules) but again, the team has been seeing a lot of this lately. We will be paying especial attention in the weeks to come.
