Summary:
The Asterism is a collective of native and outlander PCs focused on community building, resource sharing, mentorship, and helping those new to the Core acclimate to Barovia and the surrounding environs. The Asterism features space for commerce, study, healing (mundane and divine), divinations, and more. The Asterism aims to provide material and social resources to new PCs as they navigate the inherent hardships of the Core. Those seeking an adventurer's guild eager to charge head first into the Old Night might be disappointed with the focus of this group.

Alignments: Good and Neutral.

Themes and expected challenges:
Themes around the roleplay of the Asterism including healing, commerce, community building, resource gathering, crafting, discussions of faith, and mentorship.

The Company of the Silver Star

"A just war is waged not for conquest, but for the defense of the righteous and the protection of the weak.
Strength without virtue is tyranny, and mercy without courage is surrender."

Summary:
The Company of the Silver Star is a mercenary brotherhood devoted to justice, honor, and service to a noble cause. Its members are warriors, knights, scholars, priests, mages, and free men, and women, who uphold the ideals of chivalry. They stand as swords against oppression, shields for the innocent, and steadfast keepers of their oaths. Each member is bound to their own conscience, guided by virtue rather than by greed or selfish ambition.

While they fight for coin, the Company does not take any contract that would bring harm to the innocent or serve a wicked master. Honor, loyalty, and righteousness define them, setting them apart from lesser sellswords who trade their blades to the highest bidder.

Races: Any are welcome within the Company of the Silver Star, though those with monstrous or outcast heritage may face greater scrutiny. The Company is based in the noble land of Dementleiu, and those who do not fit its customs may struggle to earn trust.

Classes: Any class is permitted, so long as the path they walk is not one of wickedness (evil).

Alignments:
Good: Those who fight for righteousness and justice will find themselves at home within the Company.

Neutral: Those of neutral alignment may struggle if they do not hold to the ideals of honor and virtue, but pragmatic warriors who uphold the Company’s values may find a place.

Evil: The Company does not suffer the corrupt or the cruel in its ranks. Those who serve only themselves or seek to exploit others will find no welcome.

Lawful: Those who value order, honor, and sworn oaths will thrive within the Company’s structure.

Chaotic: While the Company values freedom, it also swears loyalty to just causes and noble lords. Those who refuse discipline or scorn the bonds of duty may find life within its ranks difficult.

Notes: While the Company welcomes all who prove themselves worthy, new recruits are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the customs of the noble lands they serve, as well as the traditions of chivalry and knightly conduct.

Themes and expected challenges:
The Company of the Silver Star takes on a variety of roles, including:

  • Defending noble causes and protecting the weak.
  • Clashes with rival factions, both political and supernatural.
  • Embarking on perilous quests against the evils of the land.
  • Mercantile endeavors, ensuring the Company’s survival through honorable contracts.
  • Diplomacy and courtly intrigue in the service of just rulers.
  • Warfare against brigands, tyrants, and dark forces.

As a martial order, the Company often finds itself in conflict with those who would spread corruption or oppression, and skirmishes against wicked foes are inevitable.

Getting involved:
Those seeking to join the Company of the Silver Star should seek out one of its members or send a written request to Maren Jarreau in Port-A-Lucine. The Company’s warriors are often found on the road, on the battlefield, or within noble courts, their silver star pins standing as a beacon of honor and strength.

                                                                                                     Vigil Noctis

Summary:
At the heart of the Night Watch is a singular purpose: to uncover the secrets of the world and ensure the safety of those who walk in the Night. Whether it is slaying ancient beasts, deciphering cryptic texts, or unraveling the most esoteric knowledge of long forgotten realms, the Night Watch is dedicated to the pursuit of truth, no matter the cost. We believe that understanding the unknown is the only path to mastering it.

Races: All Races, No Orcs, No Drow.

Classes: Monster Hunters, Paladins, Clerics, Loremasters, Wizards and Druids. Other classes are generally accepted, if they fit the theme of the faction

Alignments: Lawful, and Good, No Chaotic, No Evil. Neutrals will be vetted.

Notes: This is intended to focus on learning, lore, and  RP around creatures of the night, and otherworldly threats. Demon hunting, or AMPC hunting may happen, as well as potential investigations of the recently deceased, spirits, supernatural phenomena, superstition and the overall search for understanding(PC, Setting, Lore). Dungeon RP is encouraged, and done.

There is potential for conflict, as Evil Roams the land, the Night Watch(Vigil Noctis), intends to uncover true evil, hiding in plain sight.

Themes and expected challenges:
Moral quandary, and philosophy will be heavy themes. Potential for PVP, Hunting. Pact breaking. Exorcism.. Supernatural.

Getting involved:
Those with natural implications to the above will be approached directly. Others will be able to join at their own decisions. Just ask around for the Night Watch(Vigil Noctis)
