Help with wild shape
« on: June 24, 2009, 06:13:10 PM »
Hi
I tought that wielding a magical weapon and activating wild shape would allow me to hit things with damage reduction. It actually doesn't.
Was that supposed to happen? If yes, then wild shape is close to useless against most of the toughest foes?

I'm not complaining or making a request. I'm just asking for help.

Only magical properties of armor, helmet and shield merge into wild shape.

Just wait until you get Stoneskin and its line of spells.

Warning: Don't provoke the high-level Falkovnian wizard. He bites. (And not in the good way.)

They give you 10/5, 20/5, and 30/5 respectively.
Which means you can hit anything that requires a +5 or less.

Until the shield break.

Stoneskin makes me able to hit things with DR?
Nice! I didn't know that!

No, it dosen't.

Sadly, I think your best hope is carrying a Wizard or Cleric around for Magic Weapon every time you need to fight something with DR.

Which is... Just about everything.

Gonna test and see if you can use a Polishing Cloth whilst in Wildshape...

Your only hope otherwise is your animal companion and Magic Fang. Yeah, it sucks.

Yes, it does.
It lets druids hit things with wild shape and wizards/sorcs hit things with polymorph.

As Zedrik said, when you have DR and are using natural weapons (fists don't count, so creature weapons bascially), you can pierce DR equal to your own DR.

Magic weapon doesn't work on natural weapons.

Thanks! the stoneskin stuff makes me feel better.

And since we already have this thread, do weapon focus (unarmed strike) and improved critical (unarmed strike) help with wild shape?

No. You need weapon focus (creature).

Can we actually GET the Weapon Focus (Creature) feats? Or are they pinned to skins?

I always thought that a lot more could be done with the switching skins done in Wildshaping than is done at the moment....

Wolf skin gets faster movement speed.... Badger gets Small Stature.... Panther gets some Sneak Attack... Dire and Elemental shapes get Weapon Focus, Specialisation, or Improved Critical...

As for Stoneskin giving Enhancement bonus: Woah. Very handy. I did not know that.

improved crit (unarmed) works while wild-shaped.  My druid Lilindi has it, and has the extended crit range shifted and unshifted.

same goes with weapon focus and weapon specialization. At least, the weapon specialization granted from magical items does work *winks* Hence monk/druid in shapeshifted form can use flurry of blows, circle kick etc :)

Wait I thought monks cant multi class....

Circle Kick is a General Feat, not a Class feat. And monks can multiclass to a prestige class.  :P

Caterina is the perfect example of a multi-classing monk.

Nobody said anything about a Druid/Monk, we said a Circle Kicking Badger.

A Druid with 15 Dex could get Circle Kick.

On another note, going to test the DR Stoneskin thingy next level. I can't believe I never heard of it. I'm so out of it.  :NotHappening:

Since the visual effects of Stoneskin have been removed, it's a bit harder to detect.   Good luck.
